" Hey I thought it was you who was supposed to fix the leak!" replied Cyborg. " And Ikkin's right it does give me a bad feeling too." added the kougra. " I guess I'll go fix the leak. " said Cyborg remorsefully. " Even though Goosh was supposed to." he added in a whisper. Cyborg left to fix the leak.

Huntress nodded with a scowl. "That's the problem with curses. They're nothing but a harmless bunch of words on paper but as soon as someone speaks them, poof, we're up to our knees in walking souffles or something like that."
((*shameless Pratchett plug'd*))
"How can words have that much meaning?" asked Bloody Mary, ears perking up again as curiosity overrode nervousness."
"It's not so much talking than thinking," grunted Bob. "Straightforward thinking of the spell gives the power. Human brain is a strange thing, you know that."
((*shameless Eragon plug, or was it Eldest?*))

" Oh so true Bob." said Cyborg returning from fixing the leak.

"It depends on the spell, though," Ikkin cut in. "My form of magic depends on will rather than thought. Though it doesn't use words, either, so it's probably not the best example to use."
She paused for a moment, then said, "There are way too many different forms of magic out there. And I'm saying this as a mage myself. But, in any case, since forms exist that only require thought or speech, it'd be best to treat all unknown spells as if they act that way."

"Well Ikkin your right, but are'nt you at all curious of what it could be?" questioned the kougra.

"Well Ikkin your right, but are'nt you at all curious of what it could be?" questioned the kougra. "Yeah, I'm curious... but, curiosity killed the kitsune, and I'd rather stay alive, thanks. Even if I can have Sev revive me, dying's not pleasant."

" Is Chikkin chicken?" Cyborg teased. * Pokes Ikkin and laughs * " Just kidding. I know it's not good to die even if Sev can revive you." stated Cyborg.

Fenrix sat back and pondered all of this whilst everyone bantered back and forth. "Can't kat just conjure up some code-breaker thingy and figure it out, that should be harmless enough." She twiddled her tail rings in thought, a nasty habit. "Now I wish I had become a spell caster instead of learning pyro and thief magic." She muttered half to herself, her eyes scanning the scroll.

Meanwhile, a small plank drifted along the steady rhythm of the vast ocean. A lone White Weewoo was sprawled on the plank, unconscious. The tide and wind rocked and swayed the plank about, but the bird stayed stationary. The Weewoo seemed to be being pushed backwards, as the waves flowed in the opposite direction. In between the rocking, the salty ocean water splashed against the Weewoo. It slowly became alert again, struggling to open its eyes. Again, the ocean struck it, leaving a sharp sting in its eyes. It rubbed its face against one of its pearl-white wings, and gave a short whimper. Blinking a few times, the Weewoo looked up to scope its surroundings.
It was a typically bright day, and nothing but ocean could be seen through every direction. The bird sat up. The plank seemed to match the wood used on...
The Weewoo suddenly groaned, cursing in its mind. 'Why does this always happen to me? What can a lass like me do to deserve this kind of karma?' She stumbled to her feet. A silent sigh escaped from her, as she fell back down. 'I'm not even going to bother. This time, I'll just let the sharks...' A figure in the distance caught her eye.
A ship?
She gazed at the increasingly bigger object until it came into clear view.
A ship.
She leaned back and rested on her plank, contemplating the outcome of her investigation. If the ship was that of Meridell or Mystery Island, they would capture and sell her. If the ship was that of a pirate's, they would capture and sell her. If she didn't go on the ship at all, she would die. Big incentives. Though, you can never tell what pirates will do with their live loot. The outcome may turn out for the better, the outcome may turn out for the worse. And what if it has a Yellow Jack? Yellow flags mean yellow fever, and yellow fever means an even worse end. And she doubted anyone had been sent to rescue her. Those who knew her most likely had no knowledge of her journey...
The Weewoo cringed. 'Stop thinking about it.' She looked up at the ship. Sails of a pirate crew. And from the looks of it, the massive ship was going to crush her if she didn't get off soon. The bird sighed one last time. "At least I'll feel at home." She threw herself off of the plank mere moments away from collision. She fluttered around, trying to keep herself in midair. Her wings were still tired. After establishing equilibrium, she zoomed up to the starboard side. She flew along side the moving vessel and landed under the railing. It seems the hands were busy making a circle around some piece of parchment. While they were distracted, she quietly hopped along the wooden floor and climbed her way into a dark corner, watching and listening.

Goosh watched Ikkin and Cyborg argue. The Kougra wanted to read the scroll, but Ikkin was firmly against it. "I dunno," he muttered, "we'll be at that island soon enough." But it seemed the decision was out of his hands, as everyone had a different opinion. This could get ugly.

"I'd invent a codebreaker if I knew the entire language," said Kat, scanning the scroll. "Having spent more than half my life dabbling in magic, I've sort of learned how to decode my share of ancient scripts. Still...while I recognize a few characters here and there, it's not enough for me to decipher the entire thing. I can make out words like 'fire', and 'hole' and 'ship'...but the rest is all gibberish to me."

"Well, that dosen't sound to promising to me. I mean, I'd much rather our ship did not catch fire or get a hole in it. I vote we leave the scroll alone or toss it overboard." Keng said, now looking at the scroll with a great deal of distrust.

Kat shrugged, squinting at the rest of the scroll. "Well...maybe there may be much more to this than some random words. There's even something here...I don't know if it means 'fire will burn you' or 'sire, until soon'. I wish I knew what everything else said...nothing's making any sense."
She scanned the rest and when she got to the end, she held up the paper for everyone to see. "Is that a smudge of dirt, or is it part of whatever's written on this thing? 'Cause if it's just a bit of dirt, I might have some vague idea as to what this scroll is about."

"Fire...hole...ship?" Goosh repeated. He squinted into the distance, the island fast approaching. If something did happen to the ship, at least they'd have someplace to go. He looked up again at the scroll. "Looks like dirt to me," he muttered. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Hunty," barked Bloody Mary. The pirate returned to the wheel and the meepit jumped down. He trotted over the deck, rocketed through the air and landed on Kat's arm, his nostrils twitching.
"Dirt," he said. "As dirty as dirt can be." He sniffed again. "A bit like red clay, but I ain't that sure. In three parts, to be specific," he reached out his paw to poke the scroll, "here, here and this long line here. The rest is ink."
