I always thought no matter where I went, No matter how far you strayed, We'd always be Best friends.
I would have given to you The world, and the same I thought was true for You to me. Laughs we shared and Secrets so deep never From my lips did they pass But to yours. Things only a Friend could say, Those things were said.
The love was there I thought, Once upon a time. It’s gone now, washed ‘way by the rain. Broken pieces Clutter the floor, burnt Wilted stems. The friendship if a flower, Would lie wilted in the vase, Crumbling to ashes in the fire, A smear, a stain, washed By your hand.
I guess there's a lot Of things you want to say, and I want to Say those things to you, the ones that Matter most. But there's just no time, And I'm running out of time. It feels like just yesterday, You left me standing there, still wet from the rain, Ddripping on your porch step. Cast away like shattered glass, A worn-out shoe, Dusty leaves swept Away.
And how can I tell you Just how much you always Meant to me? 'Cause there just ain't time, B'lieve me, to tell you all those Things I always wanted. And I can just look back And think of you, back when we were still Best Friends.
