((dude, they're in the empty hallway and practically in the basement. Cain can't hear them from his bedroom.))

(( Elcy, keyword, empty, there would be echos. Unless now, you've decided there is an anti-echo machine hidden in the facility.))

((First of all, they're not just standing out in the hallway. Hidden staircase, Cyborg, which means it's not right out in the open. There will be normal doors and hidden panels in the way, besides the fact that they're underground. (Feel free to correct me on this OG, but I'm fairly sure they're either on the stairs or at the foot of them, right? That was the impression I got of your character's timing.)
Yes, there would be echoes if they were just standing in one of the hallways, but not where they are now. Any echoes they're making now would only be heard by anyone who is already in the basement. Also, Cain is in his room, with a closed door... and the residential hall is separated from the empty hall by the isolation wing, courtyard, and dining area. This is why I drew a blueprint, guys.
You HAVE to have an impression of the size of this place. It's not small. If you're standing in a room right off the residential hallway, you can probably hear a loud commotion in the same hallway, and you might be able to hear a commotion in the dining hall or isolation wing if you're on the adjacent side of the hall. Courtyard, possibly. Empty hall, probably not, and in the basement or the mazelike system of rooms which is off the empty hallway... definitely not. That's final.
As an example, my school is probably about the size of the Asylum. It has two hallways which converge on a central common area. There are no doors or physical barriers between the two halls, but you still can't hear someone being loud in a classroom in one hallway if you're sitting in a classroom in the other hallway. And that's on the same ground floor with nothing physically separating you except the doors of each classroom; there are a lot more doors and thick cinderblock walls in the Asylum. (You can't even hear the timer in the gym from the other hallway, and that thing is very loud and echoey and, again, only separated by a couple doors and a lot of space.)
This is not a formal D&D style roleplay, but I still said in my opening posts that I want you guys to consider me your GM. And part of the GM's job is to make the setting consistent, which is what I am trying to do now. Sorry if this comes off as a bit harsh, but I really must make sure the logic of the game stays consistent.))

( Okay, have fun without me, you keep adding more rules as we go along, and it seems every single flipping thing I do is horribley wrong, don't use this colour, you're using two characters, change your post structure, this isn't possible. So I am leaving this roleplay.)

((Sorry you feel that way, then. I'll cover for your characters' disappearance with... well, exactly that - having them disappear. It happens to patients from time to time, after all. It might cause a stir, but it won't be terribly out of the ordinary. Best of luck.))

Hope approached the spot where Fallon, Simon and the new patient were standing. She heard the new man ask somebody if they'd felt it. Hope had no idea what 'it' was, and wondered if there'd been a scuffle. Perhaps the noise of that had been what wakened her. "Did they feel what?" Hope asked. "I'm Hope, by the way."

"Did they feel what? I'm Hope, by the way."
Taliesin, never one to forget his manners, held out his hand for Hope to shake.
"I'm Taliesin," he replied, "and I'm not sure what it was but I felt a, sort of like a 'quake' for lack of a better term except it all seemed to be in my head. I thought at first I was ill but then I heard people out here, someone yelling and then running and more voices."
He paused to gage the reactions of the people around him. He hoped that the scream of rage he had heard before had not come from any of these people, they all seemed so nice. He was fairly certain, however, that the owner of that rage had moved to another part of the Asylum. He had heard running footsteps.
"Did any of you feel something like I did?"

((I wrote my scenario to be said for a few hours later, but would it be easier if I went back and edited it so that Miri would immediately jump out of bed? Cause most of the action is coming from immediately after the quake, and I'm otherwise without much to post...))

((Yeah, that's fine, GLQ ^^))
Zander choked, gasping for breath, and struggled wildly, clawing at his attacker's face and hands. Gathering his strength with a breathless snarl, he kicked out hard at G's stomach, trying to knock the wind out of him. The lack of air was already making his vision fuzzy and his head pound harder.

Hope took Taliesin's outstretched hand and shook it. She was glad that he seemed nice enough; there were enough nasty patients here. She thought about what he had said. A quake, a quake inside his head. Could that have been what had awakened her? It hadbeen a jolting sort of wakening. Hope figured that a quake would jolt a person awake. And her head... Hope held her hand to her forehead. It had gotten slightly worse. It couldn't be a head cold. Head colds did not suddenly appear in the middle of the night. "I think so," Hope replied pointedly. "I think it woke me up. My head feels really funny." Hope shook her head, hating the feeling. "Is anyone else up?"
((The aftershock of the Rift quake has her in this state. She'll feel somewhat better in the morning. ))

((okay, guys, I'll be gone for roughly four days beginning tomorrow. So yeah. Please carry on in my absence - this shouldn't immediately affect anyone but OG since Zander's only interacting with him at the moment. ^_^ And I might get internet access on my vacation, so we'll see.))

"I think it woke me up. My head feels really funny. Is anyone else up?"
Taliesin looked at Hope with worried eyes but had little enough room in his mind to be too concerned. He glanced around the hallway.
"I heard a few people running and someone was yelling before but I think everyone has either gone back to bed or moved off somewhere else. Do you people normally get up in the night?"
Being new to the asylum, Taliesin didn't want to take any initiative or authority upon himself. He was a good leader but would only take up that role if no one else was there to fill it. He decided to stay back as much as he could, at least until they had some idea of what was going on. Besides, this could all just be a coincidence.
((sorry, short and rather useless post but I was hoping Amnei would say something))
