I often listen to music when I'm writing, but I find it impossible to do the same when reading. The music tends to distract me from the story Interestingly enough, it often happens that, when I'm listening to music and writing, some of the lyrics in the songs may come out in my writing, without me even realising it until I look back

I thought I posted here already... lol. Umm, sometimes! I've discovered that I only listen to music with series. If I'm at a very important part of a case I'm working on, I don't because it distracts me a little. If it's very basic dialogue and easier stuff, I put on something calm, usually classical or alternative.

[shadow=purple,left,300]...as we type this, I am listening to music. XD
Anyhow, it all depends on what I'm reading or writing and whether I have access to music or not. Usually, when I'm writing a very dramatic part or something with a lot of characterization, I would prefer to listen to something that suits the mood of what I'm working on.
In fact, sometimes I can't study without music, and my parents wonder how the heck I can manage. XDDDDDD[/shadow]

I must have complete silence when I write because I am very easily distracted. With music, I believe the problem might be that I'm completely tone deaf. I can't really hear the music (it mostly just sounds like noise to me), so I tend to focus on the lyrics of a song.
