Not sure if this is the right place to post the thread...but it was the best I could find. Does anybody know somewhere or somebody that I could learn how to write about working on a pirate ship? I have a scene coming up in one of my stories where the characters are on one (and another pirate involved story still in the planning stages) so it would be an awful lot of help if I could find out more stuff about ships.

I would PM Hunty about this. She knows ships like you wouldn't believe .

*drops in through the ceiling* You called? =3
Well, Wikipedia is an awful lot of help, and you can always check the Pirates guild, there're a few threads with more technical stuff. But do feel free to PM me with questions x3 I'm no expert, but I've picked up a few things here and there over the time.

Silly me, I've been in a pirate play too... Thanks for the help (what's the pirates guild called? Just that?) Anyway, I have a thread for my current series in the Advice place, so if I get anything wrong you can just drop in and say a few words...

Well, most pirate-related stuff out there is horribly twisted >>; Know that whole thing with peglegs and eye patches and drinking rum and burying treasure and singing yohoho songs? All exaggerated, if not completely fake. (Pirates of the Caribbean wasn't completely off the mark, though. Curse of the Black Pearl, the scenes with the cursed crewmen on the deck? That was pretty close to the real deal.)
The Pirates guild is just that, yes ^^ The Guilds board down there, and there are subboards for different guilds, left from the crossroads and straight ahead, can't miss it.
And I'll be sure to go and check ^^

My band/drama teacher (I'm not in band) loves Pirates and he's watched Pirates of the Caribbean several times over... especially when he was writing the play I was in... I remember this one scene where the captain was shouting out orders... There weren't really any people with eyepatches I don't think.
Thanks for the info again, it took me a moment to figure out that the Pirates Guild was here in the NTWF... Thanks!

Good luck, if you haven't had any experience with ships you are going to need it. I think everything that I used in writing about ships has been said. When I was writing The Quetzal Ring (even if it is about merchant ships) I found Wikipedia very useful as well as random sites a Google search gave me. You will have it easier as I am sure there is more information about pirate ships than merchant ships. XD Hunty also helped me a lot, for which I thank her. Again, good luck with the story! I look forward to reading it!
