There will be a Pokemon Direct on June 5th, at 9:00 AM EST, which will cover new information about Pokemon Sword and Shield. In addition, tomorrow there will be a Pokemon Press Conference presentation at 9:00 PM EST.
I'm kinda surprised that we're getting a Pokemon Direct so close to E3. I would still expect Sword and Shield to at least get a brief mention at E3, and perhaps even some live gameplay during the Treehouse portion of the stream, like with how they did with Sun and Moon.

At least we'll know the exact date that Sword and Shield will be released with the upcoming Direct

Poke-thoughts in spoiler because people. I like that you have random encounters (from what I can see) + Pokemon walking around! That's all I ever wanted!
The Kaiju battle thing is a bit... Odd to me. I like it, it doesn't change to much and some of the giant pokemon are going to look funny or awesome.
The Raid thing. Yeah I don't like it. And the fact they said that some pokemon won't be catchable until completing the raid... Even worse.

The new pokemon look good. I especially like the Raven one Corviknight. Good to see old ones back, including some Alolan ones.
Also, I'm seeing spoilers all over the web right now. Especially that sheep, it's been plastered all over Facebookf or me XD Sooo yeah, good luck keeping this stuff spoiler free until November.

Sword/Shield Direct spoilers Some quick thoughts Wild Pokemon wandering around on the field = yay That's one of the mechanics from Let's Go that I think should be a standard from now on. It's so much more fun than oldskool RPG style random encounters. Makes the world feel very alive and full of creatures.
Dynamax gimmick looks dumb. No more rando gimmicks every generation plz - Especially when they lock species out and force multiplayer function. Or at least if you're gonna have a gimmick just pick one gimmick and fully commit to it. (not half-effort like mega evolutions that only a tiny % of mons have access to)
No real big comments on the new Pokemon. I think they're cool, with the corvid being my favourite so far. Every gen always has a few stinkers, so I'm sure there will be designs revealed later that I won't like. XD

My thoughts Yeah, definitely not fond of the the gimmick, Dynamax. The fact that some Pokemon can only be caught via Raid Battles with said gimmick is a major turnoff. Fortunately, those that have Bank will probably have a bit of a head start with Pokedex completion

There was a little bit of news regarding Pokemon Bank/Home at the end of the Pokemon Sword/Shield segment of Treehouse Live, which leaves me a bit peeved. Only Pokemon that appear in the Galar Pokedex can be transferred to Sword/Shield via Home, effectively stranding those not in the dex. While we don't know which will be eligible, the announcement also does ruin Bank's purpose of cross generation compatability

You aren’t the only peeved person. I think most of us are peeved that effort wasn’t put into allowing Home to transfer back into older games. I guess they only have one way conversion of the old data format for Pokémon to the new format and didn’t bother to implement the other direction. Is it because Game Freak is understaffed? I mean I can’t imagine it would be that difficult.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think this information should really be in a spoiler-tag, since this could be a deal-breaker for a lot of people and is something they should know before they decide on getting the games. (Plus, it's really not spoiling much about the actual gameplay anyways.)
That said, this development barely affects my style of playing Pokemon games, but that doesn't stop me from being pretty angry about it. This is not something that we should have been informed of at the tail end of a Treehouse presentation that could easily slip past the radar of many fans. They should have been upfront about this possibility a LONG time ago, and not allow the fans to think otherwise as recently as two weeks ago with their announcement of Pokemon Home.

Sword and Shield axing hundreds of Pokemon is a huge dealbreaker for me. As I haven't been able to play any of the gens past 4, I was looking forward to starting fresh in the shiny new game that finally takes a mainline Pokemon generation to console. I was excited to re-create all of my favourite teams from my old games...
but with a massive chunk of the critter pool not even existing in the game, I won't be able to do that. A sizable portion of my favourite Pokemon are not "popular" mons and most likely will be absent. 8I
It's just massively disappointing for me. (and apparently a lot of other people, from what I've been reading online XD)

It feels like something doesn’t add up. Is Game Freak so understaffed that they did this to reduce project scope in order to deliver a minimum viable product? Sorry, I put my project management thinking cap on for a moment.
I feel like we are all generally forgiving when they delay a project in order to make it right. They did that with BotW and it was an amazing game. Would you accept a six month delay for them to get all the Pokémon assets redone for this game? I would.

From what I hear, Game Freak has a staff of about 140 people. Considering that Pokemon is the second best selling video game series of all time (Only behind the Mario franchise), as well as the biggest media franchise in history, that's... not a lot of people. Now, simply throwing more people at a project in of itself isn't going to solve all their problems, but something like Pokemon really should be working with a much bigger team. Personally, yes, I would gladly accept a delay if that meant we get a more complete game. We've all heard Mr. Miyamoto's saying about delays by now, right? Honestly, I think Pokemon really needs to slow down its release schedule. We do not need to have a main series game every year. A main series game every two years, with an off-year focusing on spin-offs would be ideal in my eyes.
However, with Sword and Shield specifically, a delay would be next to impossible at this stage. Remember that the anime, TCG, and various merchandise are all riding on Sword and Shield releasing on time. There's no way that The Pokemon Company would be able to bring all of those to a halt to allow for Sword and Shield's delay. (Especially considering that the anime is likely already producing Sword and Shield episodes as we speak)
This all, however, indicates a bigger problem in my eyes. It seems that the franchise is now stuck in this loop of pumping out games as quickly as possible to pump out merchandise as quickly as possible to make money as quickly as possible. And I'm sure this is all very profitable in the the short term. But this has all lead to a series of baffling game design choices on Game Freak's part, and I feel this latest incident has finally snapped the Camerupt's spine in the eyes of long-time fans.
The National Dex problem isn't a total deal-breaker to me personally. I'll still get the games, and I'll likely still enjoy them. But my hype has dropped considerably from the news, especially compared to how excited I was after the Pokemon Direct just last week. Heck, up until Masuda's announcement at the end, I was liking what I saw in the Treehouse presentation itself!
But I'd be lying if I said that I haven't been concerned about the decisions made over the past few years. Something seriously needs to change with how Pokemon games are produced, because if this continues, it's only going harm the franchise in the long run and alienate the fans that have stuck with it throughout the past twenty years.

I just hope they see the reaction and take it into account. There’s nothing much they can do now to correct the course of this current project. It’s too late to throw more people at the project; that’ll just cause a “Mythical Man-Month” problem.
I do agree, the release cycle is a problem, especially with the number of people they have. It almost seems like it was unreasonable to move to a new system and new style of play and expect them to immediately adapt and get a game out.
Hopefully this can all be identified and resolved when they evaluate this in retrospect.
