(Apologies for the double-post, but it's been two months, so eh) If you didn't already know, today is the Avatar franchise's tenth anniversary! How long have you guys been with the series? From the very start? A total newcomer? Or somewhere in between? Me, I've been a fan since almost the beginning - I think it was around The Warriors of Kyoshi that I started watching? Hard to remember; it's been ten years, after all. XD Also, FYI, the Legend of Korra Book 4 DVD/Blu-Ray will be coming out on March 10th. I've never been terribly excited about episode commentaries, but I'm actually looking forward to it this time around. Especially the last episode. For obvious reasons.

Heeeey, I've finally seen all of LoK. Which means I can now post here, yippee! Not sure if I have much to say really, but I might as well make my presence known and reply to the old questionpost above. =P
I don't remember when I started watching. It might have been late Book One of Last Airbender? I went back and watched the earlier episodes later on a DVD we borrowed so it's kinda blurry and I can't remember what episode I saw first or anything, haha. I wasn't the most dedicated fan, I watched it each Sunday morning when it was on, but sometimes I would miss the first few episodes after the end of a hiatus because I hadn't seen it advertised.
That said, the friend whom I watched Korra with is getting the Aang box set when it's released here, so I'll probably try and borrow that to refresh my memory since I'm out of Korra episodes now but want more. ;-;
(I will miss my Tuesday cookie-and-feelz sessions =( ).

(Moving the discussion from the 'bloids to here, 'cause this thread really needs a resurrection. ) EDIT: Dangit, Thorn , you beat me to it! XD Okay so I finished season 4 of Korra and will just post a few small thoughts here, before moving to the actual dedicated fan thread thing: That villainous conference call made me laugh so hard I felt a little sick. It's one of my fave things ever.
Kuvira is my favourite villain in this whole show, by a long shot. She's just awesome.
Lin's outfit in the Varrick/Zhu Li wedding scene actually made me gasp with delight, and my friend totally got where I was coming from.
The end bit with Korra and Asami was really sweet, and I look forward to the comic which there will apparently be! Apparently some people thought that relationship was kinda just thrown in to please the shippers, but I didn't feel that way at all. Their connection had been developing throughout the entire series.
Book 4 is undoubtedly my favourite book- then one, then three, then two. I don't feel one is necessarily better than three, but it's what first grabbed me and dragged me into the whole thing, so that gains it several extra points.
That conference call was the most surreal thing ever. It even seemed like the voice actors during that scene were struggling not to laugh. XD I know I said the Red Lotus were my favorite villains, but honestly, I do find myself trying to decide between them and Kuvira every now and then. Unfortunately, I think the thing that lowers Kuvira a bit for me -and I realize this is slightly unfair- is because she gets the Draco in Leather Pants treatment big time, which has kinda soured me a little on her. I agree with ya. Back when it was airing, I saw the hints that were being dropped and I remember thinking to myself that Bryke had to have been doing it on purpose, that they were deliberately framing many of Korra and Asami's scenes together in a way that could be interpreted as romantic. But at that point in time, I was of the mindset of, "It would be nice if Korra and Asami got together, but Nickelodeon's never going to allow it." So I kinda lowered my expectations so I wouldn't end up disappointed. Then after the finale aired, I realized that if everybody thought like I had, nothing would ever change. Despite the naysayers, it really can't be understated how much sheer joy there was at Korrasami actually happening. (Myself, I was pretty much bouncing up and down in my seat while screaming "OH MY GOD") There are a ton of live reactions to the last scene on YouTube, and it's incredible just how much the ending visibly meant to a lot of people. If you haven't seen it already, here's Bryan's confirmation post that he posted a few days after the finale, which goes into detail about how Korrasami came to be. (And as a bonus, here's some official Korrasami cuddles for your viewing pleasure) I feel like Book 4 would be higher on my personal favorites list if it had gotten the budget it should have. While I still enjoyed it immensely, by the end I did find myself thinking stuff like, "It would have been nice if [CHARACTER] got more screentime or if [VARIOUS PLOT POINTS] got explored more." Again, though, I'm hesitant to judge too harshly on those points, because the reason why such things didn't happen was beyond Bryke's control. But y'know, that's what comics are for. The artist (A woman by the name of Brittany Williams) was just announced last month and all we know about the content thus far is that Korra and Asami's relationship and the rebuilding of Republic City will be the focuses of the first few volumes. And that it'll be out sometime in Fall 2016!

Varrick constantly calling Bolin 'Nuktuk. Bolin's face on spirit-Korra and then the dragon bird.
I watched those reactions and I had read that thread before, but hadn't seen the fanart (which is so much squee da'aww!! Turtleducks, yay!). I sort of wish I hadn't known about it in advance but, then again, knowing that ending was a thing was part of what helped me deal with all those terrible awful failed relationships in the first two seasons. xD I hadn't known exactly how it would play out though, I'll admit I loved the moment where they turned towards each other, and even moreso when I read the explanation of how that deliberately mirrored the same pose Zhu Li and Varrick took at the wedding just a few minutes earlier.
I will admit, I was a little saddened by the lack of screentime both of Korra's parents got in the second half. And Izumi seemed cool but I'd been warned in advance that she didn't play a very big role in the series. I knew there were budget issues though, and I thought that clip show was a really nice and clever way of dealing with that (as opposed to, y'know, firing half the animation team). And all in all, I loved the final series. ^_^
I'm guessing that's Northern Hemisphere Fall? So that's almost a full year away, awww. xD Never mind, I can wait. =P

Omg, that was incredible. XD Now, honestly, if the entire episode was basically Varrick retelling the whole series with some... "artistic liberties", I would probably have a much higher opinion of Remembrances. That's thing, though. It's not fanart. It's official art drawn by one of the creators himself. 8D I haven't done a rewatch of Book One in quite a while, but when I (inevitably) do, I imagine that the messy love triangle will be much easier to sit through while keeping in mind how it eventually ends. XD Oh yeah, that is actually one of my major gripes with Book Four and -to an extent- the whole series: We barely got to see any of Izumi or much of the Fire Nation in general. I have the Book Four artbook, and one of the things they mention in it is that they did have plans for Izumi to have a bigger role, but unfortunately they had to be cut. Whoops, didn't realize you live in the Southern Hemisphere. ^^; (Australia, I'm gonna assume?) But yes, Northern Hemisphere Fall. Which -actually- is much sooner than anybody expected. Most of the fandom assumed that we were gonna get Korra comics at some point, considering the success of the A:TLA comics. But nobody thought it would be in the foreseeable future like it is.

I loved it already, but I think I would enjoy it more also if it had just been Varrick! I liked Mako's as well, but that last was easily the best of the stories.
Whoops haha, would you believe me if I said that was force of habit? I did read the bit where you said it was official art. It made me happy anyway , very sweet.
It's so much easier. xD Except for the Bolin part. I felt so incredibly sorry for him when he brought flowers for Korra and found her kissing Mako! At least he got over that pretty fast though.
Yeah, I guess some things did have to be cut...but at least not giving Izumi much screen time is better than adding in extra plot points and character arcs which have to be rushed or cut short, if that makes sense. And her one line was pretty cool, I could totally see where she was coming from in her reluctance to join a war against Kuvira.
I'm from New Zealand, actually! I'm going to Aus for the first time in a couple of years, for my uncle's fiftieth. Apparently it's really warm and also all the wildlife wants to kill you. That's about all I know haha. I'm super excited about seeing the beautiful reefs and Australia Zoo, though.
I forgot to address the bit about Kuvira leather-pantsing: I can assure you, that's not why I like her. xD Nonetheless, I don't think I would appreciate her as much if not for her discussion with Korra at the end- I like characters whose motivation I can understand, even if it obviously doesn't justify their actions.
EDIT: I also finally managed to find that Villainous Phone Call online. Now I am content.

Haha, no worries. XP If it helps any, when I first saw it, my thoughts were, "Aww, that's some cute fanar- WAIT BRYANKONIETZKO WAIT WHAT"
Oh gosh, I remember feeling the same... then I started laughing a bit with how over-dramatic he was about it. (At first, at least) Good lord, what were they putting in those noodles?! XD
No, that totally makes sense. Back when I wrote for the NT (Which I feel like I should get back into) I found myself having to shelve a lot of ideas in the process of writing a series, since I felt like including them into a story with a lot of things already going on would end up watering it down and thereby being presented in a way that would feel less than satisfactory. 'Course, nothing says I couldn't use those ideas for later when they could be elaborated on in a better way, which is what I hope the comics do with Izumi and the Fire Nation.
Lol, that's about all I know about Australia too. XD
Naw, I wasn't trying to insinuate that you were. XD I liked how the show -I think- did a good job showing how charismatic she was to the public and (most) of her army, thereby demonstrating in a believable manner how she got so many people to follow her in the first place. And I liked just how appropriate of a threat she was as the show's final villain. But like I said concerning the Red Lotus, and like you just said, you can appreciate how a villain is written without condoning their actions - which is again the case here.

They were probably just really good noodles! xP ...and, y'know, more appropriate to the setting than copious amounts of ice-cream and/or chocolate and/or potato chips.
If they had plans for Izumi which they had to put aside, then I don't see why not! It would be cool to see more of the Fire Nation- as you said, we saw so little of it in LoK.
I think I would be able to appreciate the Red Lotus better upon a rewatch- as I said on the 'bloids, this time around the poisoning and the violent head exploding death what even this is a kids' show shocked me out of my ability to examine much else. =P Kuvira did have quite a lot going for her in terms of charisma. And presumably she was keeping the rank-and-file in the dark about a lot of things, as she did with Bolin, which would certainly help. And taking on the Avatar one on one- if I was one of her followers, I'd definitely be impressed (even if it did turn out that Korra didn't yet have all her combat skills back).
I also appreciated her as a mirror to Korra, or however you would phrase that. That was fairly neat.

Dark Horse Comics just announced that there will be a Legend of Korra comic for next year's Free Comic Book Day! (May 7th, 2016) It'll be written by Mike and the art will be done by Heather Cambpell - a.k.a makanidotdot, a rather well-known fan-artist in the Korra fandom. The cover page is shown in the link. Everybody, all together now. One. Two. Three: AWWWWWWWWWWWW

There's an Avatar fanclub? O: That was, like, my favorite series on T.V. when I was a kid. So many memories and costumes of me being Toph and trying to hide the fact that I actively watched the show from my classmates in the seventh and sixth grades. I even drew fanart of the show once, and I never do that.

I was always lacking in self confidence so Toph was my favorite character because she was strong despite some insecurities. I also liked Zuko, he's probably the broodiest but also one of the most dynamic characters in the show. Also looking through this thread makes me feel like a young punk. You have all these old timey NTWFers posting here in like 2006 ... I'm pretty sure I was 9 or 10 in 2006, loool.
