This episode was awesome, though I was so sad for Lin But she made her momma proud I freaked out when they called the general "General Iroh"; I was like, "Whoa you got younger and more fit, and took your nephew's voice?" I was so worried for the Air children though; I doubt those creeps would show compassion even for bending children. To whoever asked about the bloodbending in the daytime without a full moon, I think they handwaved it as a special ability like Combustion Man's.

I agree for the most part, except... convenient in what sense? They were being attacked, that seems like an extremely inconvenient moment to have a baby to me. XD; I guess everything did go conveniently well despite that, but still. Anyway, I loved seeing the kids fight! They're so awesome. =D
how do you even deliver a baby that quickly srsly Some babies actually come pretty fast. It just varies from kid to kid. She may want to be glad that the kid didn't come before she got to the bed. A lot of what I would comment pretty much echos what others have said. XD Though right now I seem to be excited in a way that it's hard to focus on what I want to say.
Other than that, was the baby named after someone in particular? I thought the name sounded kinda familiar, though I couldn't remember where from.

So--things.
Lots of good things! (Asami you are my favorite forever. Aeroplanes! Iroh is a human rocket! Airbending! Apparent murder-suicide on a kids' show cannot even!) But also the things where you just kind of sit there and go "I...can tell they thought they were only going to have one season. Okay." Because if this was the end, no more Korra, I would be pretty satisfied with the character arcs and stuff, I think. But as it is, I'm all "but but consequences! I want more consequences! And broader plot arcs! And struggle to resolve legitimate conflict!"
...I hope there is at least a subplot next season of making Republic City into a democracy. Maybe if the Lieutenant is not dead, he can be on the new council. *fingers crossed* *until 2013 argh*

Hee, I was hoping the vagabondfolk would show up again. =D So this is neat.
PLANES PLANES THERE ARE PLANES NOW YESSSSS oh man, I'd love to see what an airbender could do with one of those.
Ooh, ooh, is Iroh/Korra gonna be a thing, I bet it is - AND WE GET BUMI TOO YESSS I was hoping we'd get Bumi =D
Oh no, little Tarrlok and Noatok are really adorable. xD; And really sympathetic characters. Help. "And one day, he made us bloodbend ... each other." Wow wow that line really gave me chills. Geeze. Poor kids. D: It's not their fault. Well it is, a little, but they're the product of their upbringing, in a way their situation is a lot like Zuko's was. Like, if they'd been removed from that toxic environment like he was, sent away with someone good and solid to teach them better- just, wow, things could be different/better so easily and it's really sad.
And they parallel with Mako and Bolin a little, too. Ow.
... Oh, geeze, there's a tear on Noatok's face just before Tarrlok blows up the ship and such, that means he knew it was coming and just. Didn't say anything and ow, ow, why do I like the villains this much ow.
If it helps I like Iroh way way more than them. xD I. AM. IROOOH MAAAN. DA-DA-DA-DA-DA DA DA DAA.
And yeah, good episode. =D Asami was really amazing in this, beautiful and tragic and just great, and that moment when Korra airbent for the first time was amazing, and - I kinda wish that finally finally getting in touch with her spiritual side and in contact with all her previous lives ... had been it? Like, she talked to Aang, and gained the Avatar State, and still only had airbending! Because I just. I think that'd be really interesting to her as a character.
Also then her and Iroh could whizz around the sky and it would be hilarious.

So full of awesome I can't even I do like the twist about Amon being Tarrlok's brother. For all the people saying "Oh Amon can't be Tarrlok because his eyes and skin are clearly fire nation." Well it wasn't Tarrlok, but pretty close wasn't it? Although I was almost expecting Tarrlok to be misleading them with a false story just to trap them in the middle of a bunch of Equalists. Because, well, Tarrlok. But that explosion at the end made me feel a little sad for him. I did figure that Korra would be able to energybend and save all the benders who had their powers taken away, so I'm glad that panned out. I got shivers down my spine when she went into the avatar state! And Aang! I missed you! I guess there will be a season 2? I hope so, I really liked this story, and while 12 episodes isn't really a lot, at least they were all interesting and not full of fluff/filler. And I want to know more about the characters too, especially the ones we really just met for two episodes (Iroh, Bumi). Hopefully Asami gets a happy ending; she went through a lot, and I want to know how she takes the breakup (which technically should have happened before any avatar kissing took place, but oh well). As long as it doesn't appear to be an afterthought, like "Oh lets just make Asami conveniently fall in love with random guy to make it better."

Murder-suicide on a kids' show? I thought Tarrlok was just going to zap Amon and throw him overboard, which would have been annoyingly inconclusive, but then he started unscrewing the gas cap and talking how it'd be just like old times, and... wow. And, speaking of the bloodbending brothers, I wrote up a post on Tumblr comparing and contrasting the two of them with Korra and each other, because there are some clear visual and character parallels and they each end up reacting to losing their identities in different ways.

By the way, if anyone's watching A:TLA, apparently Nick has put every episode online. =D Not sure whether it works outside the US, though. EDIT: Also, Ikkin. I love your Tumblr commentary. It brought up a lot of things I hadn't thought about before!

Thanks, guys. =D I actually have another, about Amon this time (full of finale spoilers, obviously).Once you start interpreting the show through the lens of identity, everything gets really interesting. The villains make great foils for Korra, which takes the show to some pretty dark places considering how things turned out.

I don't know if this is one of those things that's explained somewhere, or if I missed it, or if it's just a mystery where we'll ever get to know for sure, but how exactly did Korra airbend after her bending was taken away? XD; Does airbending come from a different part of the brain/chi/whatever than the other elements? Can airbending not be blocked? Did it only block the elements she had previously been able to use and she miraculously managed to learn airbending right then? Was she channeling her inner Aang? Or something else entirely?
I don't know if anyone even has the answer to this, but I'm curious now and maybe someone else has thoughts. XD I dunno.

Why Korra learned how to airbend afterwards is up for speculation, but my personal theory is that having her entire identity stripped away removed Korra's ego and insistence on brute forcing things until they work from the equation and let the air flow freely at last.

Well, I predicted pretty well what was going to happen.
Except the murder-suicide. That was awesome. :'D
I was expecting Korra to somehow learn how to use energybending to give bending back to those who lost it. (Makes sense that if the ability to remove bending exists, the ability to give it back would also exist)
I can tell that they wrote this in a way that if they didn't get a second season, it would still make for a decent "ending". XD

So, according to Wikipedia, Book 2: Spirits, is still part of season one, and season 2 will have two more books. Of course, this is Wikipedia so I can't be sure, but the idea of more episodes sounds nice to me
