I saw it twice. First time was with friends, second time was very reluctantly and with parents.
Both times I saw it I cried and cried. It was... the most horrific and beautiful movie I've ever seen in my life. Throughout the entire thing I couldn't help but think "Why God? Why did you have to do this?" I mean... that seems like such a simple question, right? Why did the crucifixion have to happen? And I knew that when he was up on that cross, it was me who he was looking down on. The person that would deny his name, deny his existance, and say some not nice cannot be posted in this forum things to him. And yet he still stayed up there. For me. For everyone.
I found the symbolism in that movie just incredible. For instance, did you notice how everyone who got near Jesus wound up with his blood on them?
A second thing I found very powerful was Mary. I realized that she must have been an incredible woman of God to have endured all that, to have raised to son of God. And you know what? I want to be like that someday. I want to be such an incredible woman of strength and faith in God. I've never really seen Mary in this light before and I'm really grateful I do.
A third point of interest is the portrayel of satan. First time around he just freaked me out. Second time... I just loathed him. Hated him. Wanted nothing to do with him. And I knew that it was him that all suffering came from, that as he delighted in Christ's suffering, he delighted in my suffering, in my family's, well, in everyone's. And it just repulsed me, phsyically and mentally. I'd curl up into a ball and shake whenever he was on the screen.
The part where Christ dies, says "It is accomplished" and the veil seperating where God resides in the temple from the people is torn in two is probably the most powerful scene in there. It's an event that not only shook that period of time, but we're still feeling the shockwaves to the present day. If we weren't, Christianity wouldn't be what it is and wouldn't have the impact it does. This isn't something that ended back then - it's still going on. And the movie really drove that point home.
Anyways, I think this is one of the most powerful movies I've ever seen. I won't call it good - it's really one of those movies you can't label that way. But it's definitely one you should see if you haven't already. It'll raise a lot of questions - it did for me and I've been Christian for a long time now. Don't expect to do much afterwords - it's very draining. It's like having your emotions stuffed in a blender, but in the end, there is such a feeling of power, of triumph, and of sheer love it's worth every moment. Most amazing movie I've ever seen.

Never going to see that, never want to. I'm Jewish, and I'll probably get yelled at for posting my opinions, so I just won't.

People say this movie is against the jewish, that it show them as the one who killed Jesus, but it's completely false. It is a movie in their honor, because, want it or not, the saviour was jewish! That I read it, but from me: It's not the Jawish who killed him, it's everyone on earth, those living at this time, and those living before and today, we ALL did it. We still do it to other, in a different way. All we can do is to repent of it, for killing the son of god. And if it was against jewish, why would one have played in it? Because a jewish DID played in this movie! It was the one who play Mary. =) Jewish don't believe Jesus was the saviour of humanity and it is completely acceptable. Who know, maybe he really isn't, we are wrong and jewish are right, we really cannot know. But we cannot denie that he lived(it was proved) and suffered this way. Denie it would be to refuse the truth. Just to see what he endured, even if we don't belive in him, this movie is worth seing.
About mary, I completely agree. This made me want to pray her more. (I'm christian, but Catholic. We pray her. And those who did this movie were also Catholic, by the way ^_~)

This movie was not Jew bashing at all. It wasn't bashing anyone.
I saw it, and I was just like 'Wow.' It's so realistic, the way they show everything Christ had to go through. There was this one part in the movie where they were going to beat him with this whip-type thing with knifes at the ends, and one guy flung it on a table and it stuck. That really had me crying, knowing that if it did that to a wooden table, it would really be terrible on someone's body.
I also like how the whole movie is in Greek and Aramaic. Much more authentic. This movie had me thinking about life, and kind of revived me.

The movie itself was focused on Jesus, not the Jews, really. But do you notice that the closest of His disiples ran away and hid? He knew that one of his closests would turn Him in that night, yet he still gave him food and something to drink. That just shows that he still cares for the ones who have and will ever mess up, plus the Crusifixion (sp?). I really want to see that movie now

I don't think it's fair to call "The Passion" a movie. I think the more appopriate term would be "experience."
My tear glands are still recuperating from that experience.

I'm Catholic as well, but I'm not sure if I can stomach all the violence Jesus had to go through, whenever mom or Dave (my stepdad) talk about it I ask them: 'Why did he do it?' and they reply: 'Because he loves us' but I imagine all the jeering people at the day of his Crucifixtion and I have to ask 'why' again.
Plus, hearing about the Passion started inspiring me to shy away from drawing anime and start drawing more realistic, spiritual pictures.
I suppose I'll go see it someday, and I'll probably try to be a better Catholic because of it, maybe it will inspire me enough to finally be commited *shrugs* I look forward to it...

I'm going to see this movie with my church sometime soon. I am very interested in it, and am really looking forward to it. I have seen pictures from the movie in books, and I have to say, as goory as it is, when it comes down to it, it's the reality of what happened to Jesus.

Young children (or anyone who cannot stomach extreme violence and blood) should not see this movie!!! I can't believe some parents took their 5 and 10 year old children to see this... ps: Whee, violence!

Many of my friends have seen it, and they all said good things about it... I told my parents that I wanted to see it, but they said NO. First, because all they've heard is bad critiques about it. Second (and with this one at leas I do agree) is that they say the movie was too shocking for me, I'm a really sensible person. I guess it's better for me not to see it, but I still wish I could...
