I'm not happy at all. Why didn't this make the art gallery? And it looks like I missed out on Site Spotlite too. It took me ages to make it! www.neopets.com/~phampy1

I like it! it looks cel shaded, like it could be a monster on MR3 *shrugs* I think all postable pics are randomly "drawn from a hat" and not simply selected.

I think the system works as such: Half or less of the drawings they select are actually really good and polished art, and the rest are pictures from younger kids and less experienced people. I think they do it because they don't want to have ONLY the professional level artists post and upstage everyone else, and also to give some other people a chance to win every now and again. So essentially, it's for fairness. I hate to give examples, but the clay Kougra in the most recent galleries is one of the lesser quality ones they choose to go alongside amazing pictures like the Darigan Peophin sculpture from the same gallery page. They seem to be trying to get a great variation of styles and skill levels in there, and sometimes there's just not enough room for your pic. It's sad, but true, but you learn to live with it.

I guess I set my hopes too high this year. I got in last year for it anyway. Meh, can't hope for anything really these days. I used to be the only person on Neopets that could draw Elephantes right. But I'm glad I saw all those pictures now. I'm not alone

That's a really great picture! Too bad it didn't get in.
I entered a pic as well, my first ever Elephante picture and I didn't get in either

That sucks. Your picture deserved to get in. I really like it, maybe you could enter it again?
I have seen belated Pet Day pictures get in after their pet days.

I wish they would of at least had a site spotlite. Mine rocked. If you wanted to get freaked out and wish never to visit the beach again that is.

but at least art gallery is not a popularity contest like it was the beauty contest, that even very awful paint drawings, but made by popular neopians, won big prizes..
but let's continue trying.. maybe we are lucky the next time ^^ last time i won a fire pb

Don't worry, they supposedly pick the pictures that took the most "effort." Doesn't mean they publish good ones. Yours should've been in there!

There's a difference between "Bad art" and someone who needs practice.
"Bad art" is someone's personal opinion, that doesn't mean your art is bad; they just don't find it to their taste.
Then there are those who need practice, their art isn't perfect; the anatomy is off and the coloring or shading could use some work, but you can tell they tried hard.
Personally I think that all the images that made into the Art Gallery are great; same with the Beauty Contest. I'll use my vote on a hand or mouse drawn image before I vote for a top quality image because I can see they tried hard.
You just gotta keep trying; I'm trying as well to get into the Art Gallery with my Zafara image. *points to her art gallery image thread* Frankly, I don't care what day it gets in, I just want in at least once.

you're right RedHelix.. besides.. it's also important that you feel happy with your drawing.. that you made a big effort with it.. and if it wins something, it's better
even that my drawing didn't won, i feel happy because i did it with my effort and inspiration. maybe it will win later
