((Not sure if this is in the right folder or not. >.> ))
Hey all!
Just found this place the other day. Might be something some of you aspiring writers may want to take a look at. I know I'll definitely try it.

Oh, yeah. Heh. What is it? Well, it's a contest for writers and illustrators. I know nothing about the illustrator contest so I won't discuss it. n.n You may want to check that out yourself.
I'll quote from the description of FastWeb of what it is:
Now when I went looking on their website, I found I couldn't find anything about the rights of submitted works, so I asked them and got this response:
So I know I'll be looking into it and writing and stuff. I figure some of you others might be as well. So just me letting people know.

I'll quote from the description of FastWeb of what it is:
The Writers of the Future Contest is open to amateur writers. Your entry must be a new short story or novelette with a science fiction, fantasy, horror or speculative fiction theme, that has not been previously published. Poetry and children's literature cannot be accepted for this contest. There are four quarterly deadlines each year (September 30, December 31, March 31 and June 30) with three prizes per quarter of $1000, $750, $500 and a yearly grand prize of $4000 is offered.
Now when I went looking on their website, I found I couldn't find anything about the rights of submitted works, so I asked them and got this response:
Hello and thank you for your email. Entrants retain all rights in their works ... that's the rule for both our contests. Please forward your full name and mailing address via email if you wish to receive -- RECOMMENDED -- hard copy guidelines for the L. Ron Hubbard Writers -- and Illustrators -- of the Future Contests. Thanks! Contest Administrator

Subject: Question regarding copyrights...
> Greetings!

> I've looked on the website as much as possible to find this question regarding the Writer's of the Future contest. The question is, more or less, if I submit my work to you what becomes of the copyrights of it? Will the company own the rights to it at that point?
>
> Any light you can shed on the matter when it comes to the rights of submitted works would be helpful. Thanks.
