You know - I don't see a similarity, but I can see how others might. The doctor's sense of humour is reminiscent of Calvin's dad. True. But calvin's father is much more sartastic... of course you gotta remember. We're talking about CALVIN here...

Actually, I do recall a C&H strip that was along those lines. But Clavin was screaming his head "What is that? Does it hurt?" And the doctor remained calm throughout the whole thing. and when the doctor decided to play with calvin's mind, saying something actually would hurt, Calvin passed out. I can see why people would say something like it. But it's more of a parallel joke. but it's not a rip-off. Besides, in case no one has noticed, a lot of stories can always be traced back to another, no matter how original. It's a collective memory.
