...This must done for the protection of the forum, as Proboards does not allow any material unsuitable for a thirteen-year old to be posted (or even linked to) on its servers.... To quote the Member's ages thing, which can't be quoted since it's locked: "First of all, to be a member on this forum while under the age of 13 is against the law in accordance to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Secondly, since Proboards requires all members to give their age in order to sign up for this forum, no one under 13 is able to register." So... If there can't be members younger than thirteen, you'd think the rule would be just a little bit less strict. Not that I'm complaining, being one of the most squeamish people I know, I just feel a bit of an inconsistency. Maybe it's because they're not allowed to sign up but they can browse the forums? I don't know... I hadn't thought of that...

I don't know... I hadn't thought of that... I don't think it's really all that inconsistent. The rules are: 1) No one under 13 can post and 2) Nothing unsuitable for a 13 year old should be posted So it's just meant to protect the youngest members on the site (as well as Proboards itself, which would much rather be safe than risk running into legal trouble for having "mature" content).

One question though, I see these ratings of stories here, (T) and other. I'm not familiar with this system, would anyone care to explain? ^_^

I'm not familiar with this system, would anyone care to explain? ^_^ A (T) rating is more of a general warning that the story, while suitable for all those over 13, does contain elements that might not sit well with some of the more sensitive people. Like um, descriptive violence or romance. Scenes that could potentially disturb a sensitive, young reader. As a rule of thumb, if it's something you think that could possibly make someone squeamish, tack the rating on. There's no harm, really. Most people read the story anyway.
