By the way, I'm suggesting that we give everyone adequate weaponry for the world of the Taco. There have been complaints about not being able to do much to combat Robots. It's like trying to use a knife against a gun, or a gun against a tank. Part of the reason why guns are so effective in our world is because they work so well against everybody, and very quickly at that. I'm thinking, for personal defense, maybe we can give out the kinds of weapons that they normally use on each-other; the plasma weapons, and similar things. I don't think they'd be particularly more dangerous on non-robotic characters... It's kind of like how a gun is almost as effective on someone in a suit of armor as it is against someone in a T-shirt and jeans. For working against those big, honking robots in the sky and such that we've come across here and there, I'd say some big cannons that point up at the sky – specifically at the sky so it can't point at the townpeople – and give the passcodes to a few people who we know we can trust on stuff like this. For moderate stuff, like tanks and giant, robotic centipedes... Maybe something like those machine guns in Switzerland? EDIT: Another possibility for personal defense is the Zat'Nik'Tel or "Zat" from StarGate SG1: They're energy weapons. The first shot stuns a target (knocks them out without damaging the body). The second shot kills them (again, without causing visible damage to the body). The third shot disintegrates them. They don't work on larger targets (say, tank-sized) because the shot is spread out too much, but it doesn't matter where you shoot, and it has been shown to work on technology and everyday objects. You do have swap them to 'armed' mode before they'll shoot. And yes, it is possible for someone to take more than one shot if they're given enough time to recover between shots. Shots have been shown to occasionally transfer across things like I-beams into targets, albeit slowly, and they probably have to be aimed properly. And yes, the 'disintegrates' thing is a subject of debate. Could possibly be removed.

Maybe it's just me being stubborn, but I don't really feel like changing my characters' weapons. XD Personally, I think that it should be up to the writers to decide what weaponry is adequate for a character (and if said character would even want a weapon.) So... I think the issue should be dropped. :I

I think the issue should be dropped. :I : Given enough cleverness on the part of its user, even the simplest weapon can be adequate to defeat even the strongest foe. On the other hand, no weapon is adequate for any purpose if you're not willing to commit to using it. Forcing unwanted weapons on others isn't the way to proceed, true. But that doesn't mean there isn't value in inspiring them to find ways to avoid feeling helpless in the face of a threat, whether that involves new weaponry or not.
