Hey, that's great!
I wouldn't worry too much about the feelings towards the french. Yeah, people got ticked off and all, but it's mainly towards the government, not the people. Much like in other European and even Mid-East countries, there's a 'hatred' of the US Government, but not so much the people.
And I know here around St. Louis, Missouri (Nice place to visit!) they don't care much if you're French or American...at least the people I know.
Not much you can do about a government's decision's when it's not up to you, eh?
Anyhow, hope you get to go.
I want to go to Italy someday. The furthest I've ever been from home (outside of St. Louis, Missouri) was Hawaii. x.x

Washington D.C. or Washington state? I'm sure she meant the city - the state in on the west coast, which would probably be too far for her (assuming she lives on the east of Canada). If you go to Washington, do NOT go to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum! It is SOO boring (take it from someone who's been there twice!). In fact, I found all the Smithsonian Museums boring. Except for the regular one. I've never been to that one yet. Smiley, I was talking about Salem, Mass. That's where the witch trials were held.

That and the American History are the only ones worht seeing, though you probably won't be too interested in American History. Let's see... things to see in D.C. ... The Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, and Thomas Jefferson memorials are all pretty nice. But what's REALLY nice is Thomas Jefferson's house Monticello. It's a ways a way, so you might not get the chance to go, but if you do, jump at it! Then there's this one cemetery... darn! I forget what it's called! You wouldn't think that a cemetery could be a decent tourist attraction, but it really is an awe-inspiring place. i wrote a poem about it, I believe. Hmm, that's pretty much it, I think.

I think you mean Arlington National Cemetary. I've never been there, but I belive it's one of the largest (if not THE largest) cemetarys in the world.

You're lucky to have the chance to travel out of your home country...
*lives in the US* The farthest west I've been is either Berkley or San Fransisco, California. The farthest east? Um... Dallas, Texas; I barely remember it, though. I feel so down about this... almost everyone I've known has at least been to the east coast...
This is a bit off topic, but... Since my french has leaked away over the summer, I mistook "sans" for "sur."
(Pardon... Je suis stupide quelquefois. Je suis fatigué, aussi... il est après le minuit en ce moment.)

A)If you want to get chosen I suggest you use the word chosen isntead of choose, choose is the action, chosen is an adjective Chosen's a verb--the past participle of "choose." Aerisa used it incorrectly, but you need to double-check before you correct someone so you don't confuse the person even worse. *shrugs* Your English really isn't bad, Aerisa. When did you start learning it? (Mushroom Aerisa laudat.) (Mushroom Latina scribit. Mushoom does not write Latin well, however, having started two weeks ago, and doesn't know how to refer to herself in a non-schizophrenic way yet.)

Chosen's a verb--the past participle of "choose." It IS also an adjective, as in "The Chosen One." You too should not be so quick to correct. Now just watch as someone finds something wrong with what I said.

Coolies, I hope you get picked! I'll never be able to go to America. I don't make enough money in Australia, and $1 here is like only a quarter there. I'm part French too. I know a little French, but not all that much to have an actual conversation with someone. I can't believe what jerks some ppl can be. I mean, really, who wants to go send a bunch of ppl off to be killed goodness sakes. France has every right to not do it and America shouldn't have a say. So if anyone is rude to you, give them hell from me.

The whole reason there is an anti-French sentiment in this country is because France wouldn't go to war on our behalf. *Rolls eyes* Germany also. I can't blame them for not wanting to go against the UN, but some people are awfully touchy. I don't think anyone would give you a hard time. As soon as they met you they'd see what a nice person you are. ^___^ I hope that you go to DC, I go there a lot because it's only about an hour from me.
I suggest that you eat lunch at Union station. You can get *anything* there! They have two Indian resturants (One vegitarian, one not) two Japanese reasturants (One serving Sushi, the other searving hot dishes like Ramen and donburi bowls) they have pizza, hamburgers, gyros, anything. It's a great place to take a large group because they can get whatever they want.
I love the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. It's got Dinosaurs and HUMONGOUS diamonds and all sorts of neat stuff. You should (Providing you go to DC, I mean) visit the Freer Gallery. It's right next to the Musem of African art (I think they join each other underground) The Freer has Islamic metal work that is really, really amazing. They have Egyptian sculptures that aren't even behind glass! They're in open air right in front of you.
My favorite parts are the Buddist and Hindu scuplture sections. They have a statue of Nhandi, a cow who's name means 'Joyous one' and she's licking her nose. ^__^
But I'm just babbling now...
Anyway, I hope you get to go! Either place would be wonderful. I've never been to New York, but my friend Therese has. She says it's awesomeful. Have lots of fun!
