I apologize for the rather long and uninteresting title, but it's the best I can do at the moment.
About a year ago I used to hate writing. No question about it. My skill was probably one of the highest in the class, but I only wrote when I was asked to. With a mother who lives for reading and a aunt who is a poet, and has a knack for creativity, as the oldest female out of my siblings, there's a lot of pressure on me.
I'm just scribbling up this note, as the threshold of my school year is quickly nearing, to let the NTWF as a whole know how much I appreciate being here. I mean, really. I've met a lot of wonderful people here, and throughout time the reviews I've gotten on this board have helped improve my writing dramatically. At times, I wish I could be more active and give strong advice, similar to the kind I have gotten over time, back to some of the members. I will try to do so yet with school only two days away for me, my time will be very limited.
Because I've managed to put an effort into developing pieces, even if it does take a long time, I'm starting to put my work back out in the open again. I set aside two hours a week (okay, not much, but it's some to get me started) for writing submissions for various magzines / books - TeenInk, Chicken Soup, Young Writer, etc. etc. I'm hoping with a year's practice I will be focused enough to start my own book. Then again, that may not happen for a while, because I'm used to the slow pace I'm traveling at now.
With hope and a slightly undaunted personality, I've recieved word that one of my short stories has been accepted into a small magazine. This will be my first real-life publication. At this time I can't help but look back on the Neopian Times and see how far it has brought me.
When it comes to NT writing I haven't been the most inspirational lately. I have no plans on ceasing the little bit of work I have done for the Times just yet, but with time comes change, and unfortunately I cannot speak for the future. After my current series is finished, I may take a break, and focus on school, piano, and writing again. But that's not the point of this post.
Without further adue (and any more rambling) I'd just like to sum up my thoughts into two words: thank you.
