For the first time in a long time, school was actually pretty good!
In Language Arts, I got to talk with a girl named Kelsey who is really nice. She likes reading as much as I do! We didn't have much of a chance to talk, but I think we could be really good friends.
At lunch, they were serving jacket potatos at the Green Stuffs bar in the cafeteria. Ever since Huberts Hotdogs started selling them, I've been wanting to try one. I put cheese and sour cream in mine. It was delicious!
In-between classes, a girl stopped me and asked me why everyone teases me in science. She seemed really sympathetic. It made me feel good to know that not everyone in my science class is either a jerk or an air head.
In Study Skills, Madison, probably the most socially challenged in the Language Arts for the Challenged class I study in and the one who hates my guts the very most, actually made in attempt at civil conversation. Notice, I said ATTEMPT. When he said "hello," to me, he couldn't really keep the sharpness out of his tone. And I was reading a book at the time, and he interrupted me and then got mad when I was a bit suspicious as to why he was hailing me. Still, it's a start.
In Social Studies, TJ, one of the boys who likes to taunt me (he's not the worst of them by FAR, mind you) was "late" because you're counted late if your butt isn't in your seat when the bell rings and someone had jokingly moved his desk so he had to go fetch it. He had just gotten it back to his proper position when the bell rang. The teacher said she would give him ASI (After School Detention... erm, I mean "Intervention"). He tried to explain what had happened, but he was upset at the unfairness and didn't make a very convincing case of it. So I, having the honor of sitting next to him, put on my best teahcer's pet voice and calmly explained what had happened. The teacher still didn't seem happy, but she let him off. He didn't thank me, and it probably won't change anything, but for some strange reason it makes me feel really, REALLY good that I did the right thing and was the bigger person. And who knows - maybe he WILL stop teasing me. Maybe.
In Geometry, I got a 100 on my quiz. Not that big of a surprise, but still good to know. And in our assigned problems, the teacher gave us a really hard one as a bonus. It took me a while, but I think I figured it out and got it right. That makes me feel good.
Also in math, the teacher was busy and could not answer a lot of peoples questions. So what did she do? She directed them to ME! Even though it got a bit annoying, it still made me feel special to know that the teacher trusted me above any other students in the class to know the answers and help other kids figure them out.
FWEEE! What a good day!
