Issue 1016

It was dark and smelled like grease. He heard drums that he could feel in his bones. The drumming was almost calming, like a heartbeat. There was some suggestion of a queue, but it wasn’t being followed very well, not the least of which by whoever was hosting the event, the owners of a pair of heavily accented voices that kept calling people up, seemingly at random.

Whoops, Rohane has All the Pressure of a Sudden Promotion. x'D That's rough.

"I can’t let Meridell live on grey, tasteless, lifeless slop!" Yeah, we need regular tasteless slop that is Meridell's gruel!!

Oops. Nobles, it's not Rohane's fault that he doesn't know the protocol, he wasn't trained for this!!
Can't blame Cavall for hiding. xD

Oakley clearly has not been depressed long enough to get depression jokes. xD

I'm with Oakley on this one. Sometimes you gotta push it.

Okay, I know this is a poignant moment, but

But I like his plan! Sometimes you really need something to do. Either to help ease it, or just to have a purpose.

That was neat! It's cool to see how they try to adapt to the situation as best as they can, even in very unideal promotions and circumstances, and with some rude nobles still being rude nobles. xD Things are never ideal, we just try to move forward regardless.

(Also, kind of minor spoilers for my story, but:
I can see the parallels with yours and mine, albeit on different scales. I wonder if both of our were chosen on purpose with that in mind.)

The Tournament Part 1 by Lex , luc , and nostalgicneopian

So there really is something suspect with the guy, but still something mysterious! Or who knows, maybe that's just his way of being friendly lol. I've got a feeling at least that he's not actually a fully sinister character and we've got another twist or two before the story ends, but I couldn't say exactly where it'll take us. I do admit I peaked at his pet lookup on the site, and while there was no overt spoilers I saw, it did have some interesting details >w> Also really cool art you made for him lol!

The Floating Islanders - Darigan Yooyu by Themeguy

This one killed me on my first read, honestly I think it's one of your funniest punchlines xD The severe tonal shift, the minimal dialogue, and just seeing the Yooyu in tiny handcuffs makes for such a hard hit at the end in the best way haha. I'm also in love with just how angry the guards look in the last panel, they have never felt more betrayed.

LOL it really can feel that way. I love how you portray the high value plot prizes as being treated as kids' play things, really characterizes them as frivolous or replaceable. Those kids also look properly feral lol, they can and will turn your neighborhood into their personal playground (also is that Aisha's shirt referencing Paw Patrol? xD).
