*still weighing character concepts* sooo just checking, is anybody arachnophobic, in text only format? I really like spiders! But yeah, would be good for more detail. Do you want to play a giant spider? Be someone with a pet spider? Summon spiders?

Well I mean I wouldn't pick a spider up and cuddle it, but I have no issue with text discussion of spiders. x)

Oh BTW. My character is a witch, and it's probable she knows a few things about the fae, although mostly in the realm of avoiding / appeasing them. Thorn and Kyn (I think that's all of you playing fae characters) how do you feel about her being able to tell? She won't out you to the group or anything but it will absolutely make her weird around you. She's probably going to do things like inconspicuously leave small offerings at the edge of the camp and otherwise try to avoid your notice. xD;

Sooo, Octavia and I missed the start of this because we haven't proactively checked the forum and weren't tagged to find out that this was starting xD; Still interested in participating to some extent, but a few questions: 1. Since it's still the first round of the first chapter, would there still be room to squeeze in a late PC if we come up with something within the next couple days? 2. Are NPCs free to use the same prompt format as PCs for their posts if it helps with idea generation/structure? (haven't caught up with all the posts yet but my first thought was The Fairy Godmother à la The Godfather and no it wouldn't just be a copy of Runescape's Fairy Godfather)

And yeah NPCs can use a similar format if you want to for inspo. NPCs also don't have to be knights- so maybe that would work best for you if you wanted to play this mafioso type character? (annnnnd also responding to Breakingchains!) That sounds great haha! Cael will take all your free stuff kthanx.

It's a different story if they encounter Kay when he's in the water =P I think it'll be fun to see how weird Evelyn would get if (when?) she finds out 😏 Kay would be annoyed if she started leaving offerings to him though XD You can also consider making Evelyn one of the few humans who know that fairy monarchs like Cael are an exception to the "fairies are weak against iron" rule (what I discussed with Thorn before). Kay doesn't know because his mum vanished before she could tell him, but I imagine whoever mentored Evelyn in the ways of witchcraft might have stuck around long enough to impart that knowledge.

I'm (currently) not planning to play Lady Gwyne long-term, and I have a couple other NPC concepts I hope to try to explore throughout the game. Nevertheless, my idea for Gwyne's intro-round post stuck with me, so I went for't.

I love all these very Normal knights. Thank goodness we have bold Lady Gwyne to remind them what they're here for and who they really serve! (I won't write my response today, so if anyone else did want to squeeze in for round 1- whether as NPC or last minute PC- I'm good with that! Coaster Octavia)

Decided to just go with NPC, given that using the card/question structure is still an option and I haven't had any knightly ideas.
Went on a bit of a wiki dive for some details I didn't know about, but I can already tell that long-term it'd be way easier to ad-lib the details rather than consistently following the plot of the actual legends, because gosh, even just going through three pages it's a doozy of contradictions.
Also not immediately sure how to take this concept into character interactions, but feel free to mention if you have any ideas, or just go ahead and start hooking y'all's characters in with the mafeya. xD

(Re: Liou 's post) We have our second punny knight, folks! Their name matches their circumstances in a most unfortunate manner Coaster Coincidentally, I've included the Lady of the Lake as part of my character Ser Kay's lore. She's the one who gave him his faerie sword and is at least acquainted with his mother. I've even considered whether to make the Lady of the Lake a biological relative of Kay's mum, though I haven't come to a decision yet (let me know if you have any preferences regarding this). Kay's mother is one of the gwradegg annwn — Welsh lake fairies widely believed to be the template for the Ladies of the Lake who appear throughout Arthurian canon. When I mentioned in my earlier post about Kay's fae descent being hard to detect partly due to "the type of fairy he's descended from", I was referring to the fact that the gwradegg annwn are noted among fairies for appearing completely human (although in my personal canon there are signs of feyness if you meet them in the water).
Will be creating a separate post after this for storing character-related information.

Character reference for my main PC knight. Will update as the roleplay progresses. ProfileName: Kay Gender: Male Epithet: The Tall Height: 6'6"ft (200cm) Title(s): Ser (as a knight), Lord Seneschal (as King Arthur's seneschal) Race: Half-fae (known only to his family, Merlin, a few unspecified others) Family: Ser Ector (father), King Arthur (foster brother), absent mother (a gwraig annwn, or Welsh lake fairy) Notable Weapon: Alderin, an enchanted faerie sword that serves as a counterpoint to its more famous sibling, Excalibur. Whereas Excalibur's scabbard prevents its wearer from bleeding out, a wound caused by Alderin's blade will never cease to bleed and cannot be healed unless the enchantment is lifted by Kay. SteedName: Llamlyn Gender: Male Species: Ceffyl-dwr (Welsh water horse) Height: 17 hands (172.72cm from ground to shoulders) PastWhen Kay was a boy, he accidentally trapped his mother in the Otherworld, as described in this post. FAQWould a fairy or a witch who meets Kay for the first time be able to tell that he has fae blood?Kay being half-human, combined with the type of fairy he's descended from, means that even a full-blooded fae would have difficulty recognizing his fey heritage — as long as they only meet on dry land. It's a different story if they encounter Kay when he's in the water.

(Re: Liou's post) We have our second punny knight, folks! *points at Moni * sHE STarTED IT Hello yes where are our characters actually? and in this format, how can we go about interacting? I think Ser Reel is not totally new to this knight thing so, if you like, your characters may have known them from before they started to wear their armour at all times and never show their face anymore and also have a lot of scuttling sounds come from inside their armour for some reason.

The former varies- not all posts are set at the same time and place. I can think of a few approaches for the latter: 1. Building on another player's post. For example, June's character is a squire. His knight called out to him from a circle around the fire during June's post. Someone could respond to that by making their character the knight, and replying to Thomas in their own post. 2. Doing ye olde collab posts. Normally this game would be played around a physical table, where people can talk to and bounce ideas off each other. If you have a prompt that you'd like another player to be involved with, maybe you could do something like that? r.e. for the offer about Reel: if someone knew them from before, what would they be like? Still a bunch of creatures, or was there a person with that name originally that someone may have known? Cael may have known a random medley of critters, haha.
