The last eight days have been nothing but NC stuff.
I'm not saying there shouldn't be any NC stuff, of course there should be.
But if there was going to be so many NC categories I wish they interlaced with the non-NC categories so for those who aren't interested in NC would at least have every other day to look forward to.

Yeah, the interest really does wane each time it turns into endless voting for NC stuff. I honestly haven't been paying much attention to the results as I'm mostly just interested in what prizes I get for voting xD

The Neopies are really dragging on at this point. It's one of the main problems as it goes on for a month, with each day a new category. Now if some of the categories were dropped...

Luckily it does look like we're done with NC. That said, some of the recent categories I think has unintentionally revealed some issues.
First, man, if you own a Baby, Mutant, or Maraquan Neopet, I better hope you're also into NC otherwise you're very much locked out of those Colours specific wearable options. And it's not like those wearables are something special, a majority of them are pretty much just them positioning the item over them or in their hand (maybe with some resizing). For example the Baby's balloon & sunflower and the Mutant's butterfly, hairbow, & Usuki sets. Baby Neopets only have 21 NP items but 256 NC items, Mutants have 30 NP but 162 NC, and Maraquan have 10 NP but 142 NC. And the NP options barely covers the basic stuff you'd want for a general customization, many are niche items. And that's not to mention a majority of them were special giveaway (usual Advent Calendar) so not sold in normal Shops thus in a limited quantity. Makes me wonder if they should "retire" some of the older NC items and make them available through normal methods like Dailies or maybe even put some in Shops; would anyone get upset?
Second, let me list a few of the categories and see if you can see the next issue: Best Mystery Capsule, Best Retired Mystery Capsule, Best Gift Box Mystery Capsule, & Best NC Gram (which is essentially a Mystery Capsule you can gift to someone... or send to yourself)... Okay, yes, they are all technically different, but what doesn't help is when they're all presented one at a time, once per day, all in a row. And, even if they did interlace it with non-NC categories, that wouldn't make them interesting, that would just make the Neopies feel like they're less dragging on. Overall the Neopies may need a revamp. Like, maybe have a daily category, but within that category there are subcategories. That way we can have these more monotonous categories all get covered once, and also open up other categories which feel limited to have more options (like Advent Calendar Prizes can have subcategories for Best Toy, Best Wearable, Best Book, Best Miscellaneous, etc.). "But wouldn't that shrink the number of day"? Yes, but I don't see that as a problem, though if they want to make it longer they could then have a "Final Round" of voting where the winners of the subcategories are set against each other for an overall winner of the umbrella category. I think that would make the Neopies more interesting and engaging.
Also, another problem with the Mystery Capsules categories: What are we voting for? The obvious answer would be the wearables the capsules offered... except if you want to go by that criteria you have to go to Jellyneo and figure out where you need to go to see all the items all at once; four times, for each category. I'm sure some people would do that... but, for me personally, I just voted for which capsule, the ONLY thing they show, looked the coolest or had the more interesting theme. Very likely not what they intended, but if all they're going to show is the capsule with no other easy way to see the wearables part of it, and I'm a voter who for one reason or another has no reason to care to go out of their way to look-up the items offsite, what do they expect? And this very much can skew the results, which can be upsetting for those who do care about the wearables that were on offer. Because, another factor, who wins could influence what items TNT may decide would be worth doing in the future. Taking a look at the closest results: Retired Mystery Capsule. The winner was Horror Movie Marathon; it has a pretty cool looking capsule, a reference to the horror classic Poltergeist, and plenty of neat Halloween/spooky/gothic items. But here's the thing, it only won by 1 percent. Second place was Retired Dyeworks; while it has a pretty capsule it doesn't stand out as much though it offers quite a selection of varied items in many different colors. If we were judging on items just alone, I could see most Customizers preferring the Dyeworks over the Horror Movie; BUT, because voters, notably non-NC purchasing players, only see the capsules and not want to seek out on JN the items on offer, they may have just gone with the capsule design they like. Now this is an extreme example, but imagine if TNT only focused on the winners or those who got the highest percentage of the votes? Capsules with themes customizers may want but has a "boring" looking capsule could lose to niche ones because TNT just put a little extra effort in the capsule design. Another revamp they could do if they don't want to go extreme as I suggested above: everyday have two categories: a "normal category" and an "NC Category". That way, all players have a normal category that most would be interested in, and customizers would get a bonus category to vote in. AND HERE IS THE IMPORTANT CHANGE: Give us an "opt out" option. If a player has no interest in a category, have the option for that player to "opt out" so that their vote doesn't influence the results. The category will therefore better reflect those who have an interest in that category what they want thus giving TNT a better idea of what direction to go in on things.
Those are all my thoughts for now. Hopefully now being back on non-NC stuff I have more things to say.

I honestly haven't been paying much attention to the results as I'm mostly just interested in what prizes I get for voting xD I've also not cared for the NC categories. There's bene too many, and they're oddly specific for such a general Neopian event (Best NC baby item? Mutant item? Gift Box caps?) I just want my daily item, preferably something expensive.

To me, it kinda demonstrates how Neo has shifted so much focus to the NC microtransaction portions of the site.
I get it, keeping up an old pet site is hard. But still.

It does drive home how little content there is these days. ;w;
I do wish they'd also highlight some of the progress made by staff members outside the content team, though. Like... there was a glitch a while back where if you put an item into your gallery, it would simply disappear. A few people were badly affected enough to bump a board for several weeks (months?) in Site Events demanding a resolution. I actually also experienced the same glitch, but with an item that was not particularly high-value, so I didn't care enough to agitate about it. Then I happened to check in one day and lo and behold! The item was right there in my gallery, in Uncategorized! It was such a wonderful surprise.
The lab maps were broken for a long time too before they finally got fixed. We kind of expect broken things to be fixed but it does take skill and effort to fix them, and some things actually do remain broken forever. (like Bilge Dice and Defenders of Neopia...)
I would've loved to vote on "Best Bugfix." :/

I dabble in NC every now and then but even I thought it was tedious to have so many categories that are just NC items. Not even "favorite character from the Faerie Festival/Charity Corner plot"? I missed a day of voting. Somehow I don't feel like I missed much. Anyway, I did get one of those magical MSPP plushies toward the end so if anyone collects them or has a gallery or simply wants to use it for a future MSPP, just hit me up.

Here's my thoughts on the final 5 categories, Daily Voting Rewards, and Final Prizes: NP Background: * My Pick & Winner: Quasar * With the Mystical Moon winning NC Background I wonder if the upcoming space-themed plot may have caused a bit of bias. Though they are cool backgrounds in their own right, all the nominees have a niche so it's just pick the one you like the most.
Trudys Surprise Prize: * My Pick & Winner: Camping Deep in the Woods Background * Ah, here's the general background! All the nominees are nice, though none really interest me so I went with the one which I could see having the widest use.
Battledome Weapon: * My Pick: Extra Loud Techo Fanatic Megaphone * Winner: Varia is the Bomb * WHAT?! ELTFMegaphone only got 6 percent of the votes?! It's the second best weapon on there! Varia the Bomb winning? Yeah, I knew that was going to be the case, but I voted for the Megaphone as I felt it was more unique. Bomb is just a lot of pure icons, the Megaphone though has damage plus percentage defense. But I suppose it doesn't look cool as the Sinister Scythe or the Power of Friendship, even though they and their related weapons were pretty disappointing.
Avatar: * My Pick: Trick or Treat 2023 * Winner: UD TCG - Arcade Shoyru * I'd agree the Arcade Shoyru is the coolest one, but it's also probably the hardest one to get. Thouhg it looks like the more effort it took the more votes it got a ToT23 was the "lowest" as everyone got it, though I don't think that's a bad thing as it's just as equally as a cooling looking Avatar if you're looking for something spooky.
Surprise: * My Pick & Winner: Quest Log * I guess I'd agree with how the percentages fell. Quest Log was the biggest surprise and hopefully as they do more with it it'll provide a good distraction for players to do everyday. 2nd is the Valentines Colour and a new Colour is also exciting though this one may not be everyone's Colour of choice (though for what it is I do like what they did with the Neopets so far available in it). The Lost Fragments Event probably didn't get as much votes as no one was that excited about Faerie's Hope so the tie-in event was meant with a "meh, something to do"; though I do like things it did and hope they build on top of it (though felt they tried to with the Faerie Festival mini-Charity Corner which felt like a few steps back). Finally I do like what they did with ToT23 with a creepy story coming with each bag, even if it's just a tie-in with the next big plot, but probably get the less votes as ToT itself isn't a new thing.
Daily Voting Rewards: Had an interesting selection of items, I like how some of them were or related to nominees. I got lucky and got a Magical MSP Poogle Plushie and both Magical Chia Pops (Potato and Sroom), I sold all of them for a decent chunk of NP.
Final Prizes: Alright I guess. The balloon is whatever and the Background is niche but looks nice.
