Since my series, despite managing to resubmit it, has been overlooked again and remains in the system, I've officially shifted to Plan B - a short story entitled From One Writer to Another. I submitted it this morning...a few hours after issue 999 came out.
I'm sorry guys, I missed issue 500. I'd really rather not miss this one even if I've had the NT Writer av since it was first made available. Even if we get the Neopian Times Coin again, this time it's more of being part of a huge milestone issue I finally managed to catch up with.

I have, in any case, submitted at my own peril. Everyone is putting me to shame with all of these considerations re: leaving space for non-avatar-havers and newcomers and whatnot, while I'm doing the puppet monkey meme impression having gotten said avatar way back in the ancient issue 200 with my second comic. NO MERCY. There will be Shad and Saura in Issue 1000 if I can help it. At least you're not recycling an article you wrote for an older issue. And fortunately it hasn't been accepted into 999! But will the early Snaw get the worm? Or will houses be burned to the ground, leaving mass devastation in it's wake..... *Charlie the Llama performs good luck dance* Edit: I submitted my article on New Year's Eve 'cause I didn't know when 1000 was.

It. Is. Done. *Faints* The call to submit for Issue 1000 is now officially out (as per their Facebook page at the very least, I don't follow any of their other socials). Which would imply that there's no need to wait for a few extra days for them to purge existing submissions but we've seen organizational kerfluffles around here before so submit at your own peril :'D Thanks for putting that worry in my head. =P I'm sure it'll be fine. I did add a note saying mine was for issue 1000 (as well as thanking the NT Editor for their hard work) as it's not immediately obvious from the title that my article is for it and in case they didn't clear old entries and have to manual search for them. Do you think it would be uncouth to asked the NT Editor if they received our submission by the end of next week? Since my series, despite managing to resubmit it, has been overlooked again and remains in the system, I've officially shifted to Plan B - a short story entitled From One Writer to Another. I submitted it this morning...a few hours after issue 999 came out. I'm sorry guys, I missed issue 500. Yeah, if it was another Anniversary issue then maybe (though if you have a good idea for an article for an Anniversary issue I wouldn't let that stop you from submitting it), but this is issue ONE THOUSAND. This is a major milestone, a landmark issue, how many weekly (though now bi-weekly) series gets to a one thousandth entry? One that is purely user generated, meaning for over 20 years a community for a pet site stuck together, through all the ups and downs, submitting articles, stories, and comics for this one brand consistently to reach quadruple digits. That's pretty special and I don't blame anyone who think they got a shot, be them a veteran writer with all the NT Avatars & items or a newbie who never written anything for the NT before. It's all fair game, especially for this issue. (Before anyone puts words in my mouth, I know it's not a big deal if you don't get in. My point is that there is something special for this issue and no one should feel guilty for trying to get into it if they want to)

I absolutely want to see Shad and Saura in 1k!
Nothing would make me happier than seeing a bunch of old NT writers and artists pop up out of the woodwork from every generation of the Times to give 1k a big hurrah!

I hope there's still room for me in the issue, I meant to submit on the 13th or 14th but life got in the way So scared there will be too many entries for the editor to comb through to get to mine! Collabing with my friend who agreed to do illustrations for me! We got into the NT as kids collabing on a comic, and it would be so nice to do that again (with a short story this time!)
95% finished, just letting it sit for a few hours so I can read it with semi-fresh eyes for final touch edits, it'll be submitted at the end of my day. In about 8 hours?
Best of luck to everyone. very excited to see issue 1000!
Edit: submitted!! even more excited now :' )

Just submitted my entry! It's full of graphs and tables and DATA SCIENCE and after spending this past week writing the scripts necessary to compile all the statistics I am 100% ready to go back to my regular grad studies work -- never thought I'd say that.

Hoping everyone here who submitted gets to hear back soon!
It might also be good to keep in mind the chance that this issue could be delayed by a day or two, since Issue 975 was the same way. They didn't announce 975's late publication date, though, so if Friday comes around with no word on the NT coming out, that probably means it'll be Monday or Tuesday when it releases.
Just wanted to say in case that does happen so no one gets too worried come Friday!

I... JUST now got something submitted ;~; I should have been working on this months ago lol.
I think it's pretty good tbh but I have no idea if there's still room.

At this point, I'm seriously hoping they delay it until next week some time. Better to have it land well and be organized than be a scramble.

There's some chatter on the neoboards with people saying their entries didn't seem to be in the system anymore (by resubmitting with the same title), despite having submitted after the 999 queue was cleared and the call for entries for #1000 was out.
Someone said it's probably the editor clearing things out as they're read and selected for publication and it's just that neomails haven't been sent out yet; which seems reasonable to me, but there's a lot of people resubmitting anyway which makes me nervous that mine gets buried/it really did get cleared out somehow and I should be resubmitting too. :S
I'm not resubmitting, I did it on the 18th and got the successful message; and I don't want to clog up the submissions; but I really wish there was a clearer user-facing interface for NT submissions!

Hello! I'm someone on the neoboards! It's me! We've gotten confirmation from Adler that we don't need to resubmit. So you should be fine Stella!
