Hello, I thought it'd be fun to have a winter art exchange, a nice way to spread some winter cheer and an organized way to give and receive a gift! List three/four characters you'd like to offer up for arting, and optionally three/four prompts you'd like to see your character face. I'm vaguely thinking winter-themed, but they're your characters, so if there's something else you have in mind, say so! Also, I would like to discuss a possible change to the format. Normally, you don't know who's going to give you your gift, it's a secret-santa style event. However, I'm wondering if that's really an important part of the event or not. I made a poll asking if we'd rather keep the gifter/giftee list secret, or if we'd like it more known. It's an idea I had, but I'd like to fully explore it, see if it would work or not, so feel free to post your thoughts as well. I also thought about removing the shading requirement, but I left that in for now.
Guidelines (as set forth by Moni) 1. Follow Proboards and Forum rules. 2. At minimum, gift art should be colored and shaded with one character. 3. You can request a modification to 2 with equal effort, such as two unshaded characters, given that you get clearance first. 3. Try your best! 4. ooh! i'll sign up! Characters: Hooman RPG characters: Raia, Cepith (edgeman mcgee) Neopets: Lissandre, Theodaxx Raia - Scourge aasimar paladin with a strange link to the gods. Serves the goddess of magic and is responsible for Regulating Magic Users (TM) in Akhetra. Lawful good stick-in-the-mud. REAL stick in the mud. Lives with her girlfriend and a cat, and helps her (pseudo) little brother Khamet out of bad situations. Has accidentally created at least 2 eldritch gods just by trying to cook dinner. Ref.Cepith - Human conquest paladin who used to be good at math. Now is bad at math after being cursed by a fiend. How sad. Now instead of thinking of new and original ways to solve math problems, thinks of new and original ways to solve the problem of maximizing demon suffering. Does not have a good relationship with Raia due to being lawful evil and also dating her brother. Owns a cute budgie. Ref in third image. Lissandre - Blue Aisha Brightvalian scholar, one of the youngest ever. She is better than you, and she will let you know it. Her areas of expertise are agriculture and time magic, which are completely separate--and she can probably be an expert in any other area of magic too, if you'd just kindly ask her. She'll make time for you! Ref but also a really great portrayal by caylista. Theodaxx - Alien Aisha. He wanders Neopia in a viking suit in a secret mission to [REDACTED] [REDACTED] for [REDACTED]. Once decided to fill the sky with pop-up advertisements, which caused millions of dollars in damage due to distracted spaceship flying. Loves trying new things and peddling his signature cultural cuisine: gross food. Ref by the lovely and wonderful Twillie.Optional Prompts: Hot chocolate! Opening gifts! Snow angels! I would love to sign up! Characters to Art:Astrophelle; blue lady of stars and shininess. Arran; the lead from the novella I've been working on (with optional Judgemental Glowing Ball of Light!) Vale; a patchwork guy adventuring through the stars. References/Descriptions:
Astrophelle is an aasimar- someone blessed by or descended from angels, who has a mental and spiritual connection to a specific angel who serves as her guide (in her case, a white-winged blonde prettyboy called Evlavei who was given Astrophelle as his very first charge, and they've ended up becoming 'friends who help each other sometimes' rather than a mentor and student.) Astrophelle has dark blue skin adorned with stars and constellations, with a red nebulaic marking adorning her right cheek. Her right eye is dark green and her left is blue. She has two light blue wings flecked with silver- but that's a recent development, most of her life she didn't have wings, so just including this in case someone really feels like drawing angel people. xD Also not shown in any of these pictures is her right forearm: a light blue, crystalline prosthetic. She lost her arm near the elbow while doing her Astrophelle Thing (i.e. trying to save everyone), but a couatl later gifted her the shiny magic arm. While Astro travels in bright robes of yellow, orange and red; she also loves wearing pretty dresses! She bought a pretty black dress for a formal event shortly before she gained her wings; which prevented her ever wearing that dress again, but most recently she went to a festival with her ghostly girlfriend and let said girlfriend pick out a pretty red dress for her! Visual References: quick sketch (by me), headshot (by Moni- this was before Astro's right eye changed colour due to magic shenanigans), full body from Superhero Swap (by Celes.) Optional Prompt Ideas: warm clothing and hot cocoa, hanging lights, or preparing food or parcels for people in need! Astrophelle is the sort to place the wellbeing of others first. Arran looks anywhere between 20 and 25 years old. He is a fair skinned brunette, quiet and often anxious, with blue eyes. He carries an ancient staff made of yew wood, which is often attached to a ball of light ('the Orb') that serves as his guide and mentor (although she is not always very nice about it.) Visual References: Quick Arran sketch (by me), official art from the game he comes from (eyes are green here, because I forgot what colour they're meant to be but it's fine. In my AU he has blue eyes now. xD) Optional Prompt Ideas: Arran throwing the Orb like a snowball, Arran wrapping festive lights around the yew staff, Vale was an experiment (experiment 12 to be exact), created by combining pieces from several people. He has the head of a blue-skinned elven noblewoman, one hand is wooden and comes from a dryad, the other is fair-skinned human flesh, and his legs are scaly and draconic. Glowing golden stitches connect the different pieces of his body together. This is most striking where his neck meets his shoulders, and down the centre of his chest where blue flesh meets that peachy human tone. Perhaps most notable on first impression are the large pair of antlers atop his head, which he has recently adorned with jewelry and small sparkly things with the aid of his friends. Visual References: Sketch (by me.) Optional Prompt Ideas: Vale has never seen a snowfall, so either something with snow or a little tree decorating scene would be lovely. He is always looking for new experiences, so him learning a sweet new tradition would be lovely! Characters to art: Alyx. My sneaky, authority-defying, 'hard on the outside, soft on the inside' human rogue. Ref 1 Ref 2 Celeste from Animal Crossing. She's a super cute owl and she loves the stars. Wiki page with refs Connie from Steven Universe. She's a delightful nerd. Inteligent, brave, and kind.
As for prompts, I'd be happy with anything wintery or holiday themed. You know the usual: them decorating, opening a present, bundled up with a warm drink, bulding a snowman, etc... but don't feel restricted by that, I'm open to anything!

Ebony - Standard male Eevee (the evolution Pokemon). Vanya - Standard female Fennekin (the fox Pokemon). Finally finishing the form! (Can't tell if I over-explained or not. x'D) Characters to art (three/four): Webster (from Mafia 3) - Giant ghost crab. Gleefully trolls a certain nature photographer. Skilled and mischievous, but also kinda wise in his own way when he wants to be. Verso & Recto (from Naelus) - A small two-headed riddle dragon. Absolute disaster duo. Verso (head on the left when facing them) always tells the truth (though he isn't always the brightest); and Recto (head on the right when facing them) always lies (and often takes a certain joy in aggravating Verso with his sarcasm). Jeremy (from my Hero City fic) - Snarky craftsman of fiber arts and work-from-home tailor. Has powers of fabric manipulation (color-changing, levitating, and threading small pieces). Lowkey terrified of exposure, but generally chill and earns an A+ in snappy banter. Tracy (from Mafia 2) - Conspiracy theorist who's convinced that aliens are to blame for most of the Bad Stuff that happens (and that tin foil hats are the solution, obviously). Paranoid and not always super bright, but maybe makes up for it in her enthusiasm to help out, her determined optimism, and her tin foil dexterity. Lisa Copper and Franklin Fuzz Most recent:  Test Panel  Another Test Panel  Lisa Copper and Franklin Fuzz are police detectives from my upcoming comic series Crime Show, which parodies their namesake. Franklin is usually the more silly of the two, with Lisa rolling her eyes, but Lisa has her silly moments as well. Extra notes: You only have to draw one of them, but if you decide to draw both, you're welcome to skip the shading. Saskori Most Recent:  Recent Thumbnail  Saskori Plushie  Saskori is a Cybunny of the Haunted Woods, a twelve-year-old monster tamer. She uses her cleverness to outwit the situations and people she encounters, and even make friends and allies along the way. Jess (and Taffy) Current Ref:  Another pose  In Halloween Costumes!  Jess is another spunky twelve-year-old girl. She has a Guinea Pig who she magically pulled out of that top hat, and her story revolves around figuring out how and why that happened. Taffy the guinea pig turns out to be her familiar, and Jess turns out to be magical herself. Extra Notes: I only meant to include Jess, but looking at the refs, I always have Taffy as well in there. I'll be okay with just Jess, but if you draw both, you are welcome to skip the shading. Characters to art (three/four): Velia Briar (OC, "Wrighton" forum roleplay) Velia is my vampire character from the Wrighton roleplay. In an Our Vampires Are Different twist, Velia does not consume blood - in fact she doesn't eat any food at all; instead she must absorb lifeforce from living things. Velia is a good bean and only eats plants, but because her vampiric abilities are primed for epic tragedy, she is cautious around people, and always wears gloves in public. Velia makes and sells crafts, and has a pet spider-plant. (OC, "Caption This!") An awkward dork dragon. He's modest and friendly, but also easily spooked. Enjoys making DIY crafts and dressing up (though his clothing options are usually limited due to them wings). REI (OC) REI is a vintage companion robot in a sci-fi world. Her design is based on some species of alien animal, though she has lost a portion of her aesthetic furry coverings over the years.
REI is in rough condition, being unable to speak due to a damaged voice box, suffering overly stiff or loose joints, and an inability to hold a charge. Despite sounding slightly demonic, and shambling along like a zombie, REI is a pretty sweet character who just wants to be loved. Zenzic (OC) Zenzic is a character of many talents! From professional Monster Hunter to Pokemon Master, Zenzic has a great number of adventures under her belt! (My go-to "player character" in most video games that let you input a name or create a character..) Zenzic often finds herself falling into the strangest of adventures, but will never give up until she reaches the goal. (Even through heavy glitches!)

Characters to art (three/four):
Cherry Blossom (OC, Neopets) Cherry is a young red Pteri living with her family at the top of Terror Mountain. Originally raised in an orphanage, she was adopted by Twillie in the past couple years and has been enjoying a quieter life with more personal attention. She loves making friends and meeting new people, and she's full of energy and is often flying around and bouncing from place to place. She has a snarky side to her though, and is learning how to prank and talk back thanks to her older sister. Twillie Blossom (OC, Neopets) The supposed head of her household, she owns a house at the top of Terror Mountain and works to bring in money and take care of her two dependents, Zathandria and Cherry. Her favorite thing to do is take care of loved ones, although outside of friends and family she can come across as awkward and eccentric, making her something of an outcast. Savvy and journalist-minded, but with her emotions often turned up to an eleven, people struggle to take her seriously. Gibi (OC, unnamed ghost comic) A recently deceased ghost who finds herself in a strange between world in the forest at the foot of a mountain. Although unsure how she died, knowing this is key to her being able to pass on. She tries to recruit help from the various spirits she encounters in her travels around the valley, with varying levels of success. Slightly cynical with a dry sense of humor, which especially comes out as her experiences become more and more supernatural.

Cherry Blossom: Twillie Blossom: Gibi: Optional Prompts: Maybe things like "gothic winter," "playing in the snow," "northern lights," or "mountains." Can be wintery or holiday related, although it doesn't have to be! I tried adding some prompts that could lend to dramatic ideas as well as fun, as Gibi's story doesn't quite lend to a fluff piece, although if you did draw her in a fun or cute scene, that would be funny and I would not complain xD
