A roundup of 2021's Neopian highlights, you can vote each day for your favorite colors, clothing, events, etc. in each category and earn prizes at the end. Every category's voting period will last for 3 days, and if you vote for each category on its day of release you'll be eligible for a bonus reward at the end. This opening category's "first day" will last through February 1st and 2nd. Be sure to check back here for every new category, or you can find a link as well on the Neopets homepage.
This year's Neopies will run from February 1st to February 20th (last new category on the 18th).

Ooh, today's is hard, I'm torn between two of them. Library Faerie Bookend is really pretty and features the Library Faerie and books, but The Futility of Existence is a book, and features a grey wocky, and a fun caption, and a starry sky. |

Haha, I know that feeling June, I can usually be split between options when it comes to items and their pretty art. I went with the book, just because it's the only item I know I'd make use of, plus I just like its art and title haha. I was tempted a bit with the bento box as well purely for how gorgeous it looks, but books will always have value to me in Neopets. |

I had a hard time deciding today, as I wasn't too drawn to any of the options really. I honestly don't remember any of their release lol, since none of them are items I'd use anyway. I considered the Chocolate Tux for a minute, as I figure it offers the most coverage, but I ended up going with Cute Cup of Borovan in the end. I just figured between the two, I'd get more actual mileage with the latter, and just something about it caught my eye in a way the others didn't xD |

In a way, this event offers a nice recap on stuff that's been released (and that you might have missed). Anyway, I went with the same, Twillie, as I'd like to see more wearables like it.

I feel like today might have a clear winner, or maybe I'm just biased in what I voted for lol. But I could be wrong, considering how the first category's winner surprised me.
I was certain "This is Fine" would take the lead, but instead the Jinjah Bread Man made a close victory. Although thinking back I do remember a number of people being disturbed by the guy eating all the frosting, like it was a form of cannibalism (or a different kind of inappropriate, depending on who you asked xP). It didn't really stick out to me, though, since frosting is the decoration of a cookie and not an essential part, but I guess for others it was enough to stay in their minds and vote for the weirdness of it lol. |

Chose mine today based on the caption, as none of the images stood out to me as being better than the others. Meanwhile, the caption reminded me of a couple comics I made. |

Oh lol I didn't even think about their captions until you said something. I basically just voted on art quality as I'm not too involved with the Caption Contest itself, and even then I think all the options have good art to them. Ended up going with the Merry-Go-Round, I think just because of its slightly more dynamic angle xD But aw, I think that's good reason to go for the star one! :3 |

Things I picked and why: (not sure if spoilerboxes are to avoid influencing votes or to avoid revealing today's topic, but everyone is spoilerboxing so you can click on mine too) For Day 1, Advent, I voted for the Apathy This is Fine.
Topical, memetic, and bringing back the best Obelisk character.
The winner with the Bakery was, to me, the most basic and least likely to win, I thought Darigan fans would flock to pick the cute Darigan holding a petpet??
Day 2, Neopoint items:
my pick was the Bookend. It has books, it's an uncommon item - the first bookend item on the site, I believe -, and Library-chan deserves the attntion.
All these items were pretty, but I felt this was the most original one. There are plenty of other books that look like Futility, other foods that look like the Bento, and other toys that look like Whack-a-Symol, though the reference in the latter is appreciated.
I did not expect my pick to win, and the winner did not surprise me, as it is very much a mood for us in general. (insert Marge Simpson Lighten Up Kids here)
Day 3, Neopoint wearables:
my pick was the Mutant Chtonic Amulet. It has a reference for a more mature, geeky audience, and I wanted to confirm that this stuff does resonate with us. None of the other items were particularly groundbreaking, there are other suits, handheld drinks and standing signs.
Not surprised by the winner though, it's good for people who actually use wearables.
Day 4, Advent wearable:
my pick was This is Fine, my first winning pick. No surprise. We're all in that flaming room, whether in Neopets or in general, and have been for a while. Also wanted to use my vote to approve of this relatable, meme-y content.
Day 5, Advent prize:
oh shock, oh surprise, the stamp collectible with the widdle babby kitten won.
My pick was I See Jhudora, I Click.
Day 6, Best Caption image:
here I decided to pick the image I found most inspiring for captions, since that is their purpose for this contest!
To me, that is the Tubular Kiko Racing (?) image with the Tuskaninny and Kiko. Their expressions and the original situation stand out to me.
I'd guess the carousel would win, though. The seasonal images are pretty basic.
Day 7, Best Site Event:
my pick is the Festival of Neggs. For game mechanics, it's not a very whelming event, but I think that's the one where they did something original, played with site characters, and actually made something happen in Neopia. I vote in a "more of this yes" sense.
The Calendar's new comic format was a good call, but it still had to be interspersed with Olde Gifs from Ye Olde Fun Images. The Altador Cup is always the same thing to me. April Fools was creative and topical, but I miss Fools that made actual things happen on the site.
Day 8, Best Petpet Colour:

Spoilerboxes are mostly to keep voting decisions a surprise yeah, haha. Not sure how big a deal it actually is, I just had it in my head that past Neopie threads did the same, so carried on the tradition lol. Today's category I had no opinion on, seeing as I've never bought Neocash or participated in any of these NC-specific events, so this is my most arbitrary vote yet. I went with the Altador one, honestly just because it gave some new art of Altador, which could possibly be of help anytime I may want to worldbuild for the land.
