Basically the thread to talk about this as it goes on, from July 23rd-August 8th.
There are several aspects to this topic. Are you here for the sports and athletes themselves? Is there something in particular that caught your eye? Or is it more about the unique circumstances surrounding the athletes and the games? Or are you opposed to this game being held right now on principle, due to Covid reasons?
(If it is one of the latter topics, please keep it civil, or consider moving it to Pandemic Talk or Pandemic Social Support if it's more about the pandemic as a whole.)
Anyway, this is the place to talk about it if you'd like! Don't worry about making long posts; so long as you're not outright spamming, you'll probably be fine.

Some of the first games included air rifle, archery, fencing, table tennis, and rowing. There's basically no crowd or audience because of Things, but sometimes you may hear one of the assistants shouting support.
I watched some of fencing and rowing until NBC revoked my free access (no cable or really any TV, woo), so I'll probably watch videos uploaded later as I wish.
A part of me is really "hmm" about this being held during Things, and how some things are handled, and I can understand people being wholly uncomfortable for those reasons. On the other hand, I also think the world could really use some levity, and the Olympics can be a good way to do that and bring some people together (while apart, as needed). I'm kinda stuck in-between, but y'know, it's complicated. In the end, I could use the levity too, so I did end up watching a few.
