Hi everyone! I'm David. I joined this site countless years ago (well, 6) but never really participated and fell off the face of the site, coinciding with a time when I backed away from Neopets. That being said, I'd like to get back into writing for the NT, and I miss the community aspect I found in many parts of Neopets back in the day, since most folks I used to know have disappeared. So: hello! It's nice to (re-)meet y'all.
I'm currently a college student, studying math and statistics. Music is my main other hobby, though hopefully writing is making a comeback. I'm also a former farmer, having grown up in the Midwest.
My next project for the NT might be a mock scientific journal article, maybe comparing the efficacy of two morphing potions or something? I haven't had the idea for long, so I need to do some workshopping!
Also, I've heard about a NTWF Discord. Is there an invite link to that around here somewhere?

Hello, David. ^^ Welcome back to the forum, lovely to see old-new faces coming back. Good luck with your studying and with your NT article! It sounds like a really cool idea.
As for Discord, we do not have the link openly, since we prefer that people get more established here before joining the server. You are, however, welcome to PM any of the mod team about it.
Hope your time here is good, and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Hey there, welcome back! =D It's nice to re-meet you as well, and eyy another Midwesterner! (although I've never lived or worked on a farm myself haha)
That's exciting to hear your plans to get back into writing and the NT, and I wish you the best! There are plenty of other NT writers here as well who would love to read what you have and help along the way whenever you need :3 That scientific journal idea sounds cool, incorporating your rl passions is a great idea!
Ooh, music! Do you write music or play any instruments? I love music as well, but I don't have any experience or skill in making my own haha

Thanks Twillie - and yay for the Midwest!
In the past I've played instruments and done some composing - I still plunk things out on the piano once in a while - but I'm first and foremost a singer! (Mostly choral and classical, which I know most people think of as the boring stuff haha)

Zoey- I recall you wanting to go into a Master's in Biostats? Tagging Zoey since that's her expertise

Hello David, welcome back! Looks like you joined during a time when I was up to my ears in law school and "retired" from Neopets and the NT so hello, I'm Kat, I'm an old fossil that simply won't stay buried and I came back here myself last year.
Wishing you the best with your NT article! Man, I'm way out of practice with piano but I did join my law school choir for a short bit as an alto (only because my boyfriend was on it and my audition was terrible CRIES).

Hi, re-welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy your time here and successfully get back into the NT! Choir is fun, and I also dabble in some music composition myself.

Yes, my sights are set on grad school in biostats - thanks for following up on that, Carolyn ! ^^ ( Zoey : looks like you haven't logged on for a while, but whenever you see this, I'd love to chat about biostats and hear about what you do!) Thanks Kat , real nice to meet you! Believe me, I don't like to think back on my old auditions either... Also, I must have a one-dimensional, super-studious picture of law school in my head, because the phrase "law school choir" cracks me up! Thanks RielCZ ! What kind of stuff do you usually compose?

Ah! I actually love the choral stuff. I find it to be absolutely stunning and beautiful. <3 When I was in school we sang a lot of Randall Z Stroope's stuff and my gosh is it breathtaking. I'm a soprano myself, haven't had time (or recently the ability) to be in a community choir... I miss it so. I was in it for years, though. All through college and primary/secondary/high school.

Sounds like we're in need of an NTWF choir...?

Thanks RielCZ ! What kind of stuff do you usually compose? All sorts of things, really. I'm a classically-trained violinist, so I kinda started with that, but then evolved to / experimented with other genres and instruments. (An old symphonic piece of mine is likely still on the forum somewhere heh.) I'm not nearly as prolific as I once was, but I did write a piano rag late last year and some smaller stuff this year. My performing arts collab entry was an original musical of sorts; obviously I didn't include the music, but all the showtunes are in my head! Sounds like we're in need of an NTWF choir...? I sang baritone in high school, I'd be down.

Funny thing about law school - just studying will cause you to implode, so the choir was one of many outlets law students could get into so they don't go cuckoo from too much academics.
And if we're doing a NTWF choir, be warned that I am very out of practice, haha.
