Hey, do you know what's awesome about the year 2020? It'll be over soon =D ...somehow, because I could swear it was April last week. But in the midst of *vague flaily hands towards this year's calendar* everything, people have been asking if I plan on running the holiday card swap again and I reckon that if ever there was a year for receiving happy little missives to remind us that someone out there is thinking of us, it's this year. Since this is the third year doing the swap, I'll recycle past textwalls and just link the 2018 and 2019 threads for those who want to read up on the details, but the overall tl;dr is that - errybody signs up - errybody gets the addresses of all participants - you send out holiday cards to everyone - you receive holiday cards from everyone - ... - profit! Now, the one inevitable specificity of this year is that force majeure may punch any one of us at any upcoming point. The central idea of this event has always been "send all cards, receive all cards" but at the same time I wouldn't want anyone to stress themselves out over getting to a post office if doing so would be outright unsafe/against government restrictions/whatever else the rest of the year may bring. So what I'm proposing for this year is that if you want to sign up, sign up if you can reasonably trust yourself to be able to get those cards sent, but if you end up being unable to, then we can figure things out on the go: maybe you can send them later, or send everyone Valentine's Day cards instead, or Easter, or whatever. In other words, community spirit first, cards second. The deadline for signups is November 15Participants:1. Huntress and Fraze (I need a Frunty tag) 2. Celestial 3. Twillie 4. Carolyn 5. Birdy 6. I absolutely want to sign up, but honestly, the past two years have shown me that our mail is so reliably slow, I might not send winter holiday cards this year. I probably would have had to send them a couple months ago if I wanted them to make it on time. XD Especially this year, cause I don't really know how the pandemic has affected the postal system, but I imagine there might be less staff? I'm not sure. But anyway, I was thinking of just sending fun friendship cards? Would that be okay?
Or if you guys don't mind "Christmas" cards in February, I still can proceed like usual, but... I've been a little disappointed with how long they take to get to their destination in previous years. XD;

I would love to write some wholesome holiday/friendship/may up being naturey cards?

I'm in a similar boat to Ginz- it's already quite close to Christmas, I'm not sure my cards would make it in time, even if I did write them all with record speed.

I've been a little disappointed with how long they take to get to their destination in previous years. XD; Personally, I would always take a late Ginzcard over no Ginzcard :3 And this year in particular, there's absolutely no telling how many participants' cards might suddenly be delayed for pandemic reasons when things ran smoothly enough the previous years, so if anything it'd be a bit of a shame if you stayed out just for that reason and then everyone else battles with delays anyway. I know that our postal system specifically held mail back in spring so that any viruses on them would have time to disappear, but dunno if they're still doing that. Ultimately it's still up to you - the glory of this event is that even if you don't join, there can still be individual card swaps. We have every intention of sending you a card this year either way ^^ I'm in a similar boat to Ginz- it's already quite close to Christmas, I'm not sure my cards would make it in time, even if I did write them all with record speed. Huh, I specifically remember your card arriving surprisingly fast last year. Having dug into last year's thread, you sent them out in early December and we got yours a few days before Christmas. ...not that last year is an overall good metric for this year :'D

I'm in! I love doing this.
As a disclaimer, I don't do Christmas, so anything seasonal is fine. It doesn't even need to be seasonal! You do you.

Ah, okay! I seem to remember mine taking longer, but yeah I'm happy to sign up now I know I still have Time! Would love to be involved! I've been a bit gloomy lately so this will be a lovely thing to focus on. <3
I do Christmas, but any kind of card is fine by me. I just like getting nice messages from friends.

I am Interested!! Especially if this can be a "Just Send Your Cards At Some Point When You Can" event, because in my neck of the woods we're not just having a "No X November challenge", we're having "No November At All", so I'm not sure when I could acquire cards or how mailing will work by the time I have cards. But if timing is chill then sure!
(As previous years I do not celebrate anything at all (aside from friendship <3) and prefer to get General Holiday cards. Or even General Non-Holiday Cards. You know. Cards.)

Yep, if one thing is consistent about *vague flaily hands towards calendar again* this whole thing, then the fact that we're all in this mess together to a greater or smaller degree. So no need to feel bad if a card is delayed for ages or goes on a magical soulsearching journey. In our case, I also use the cards to deck the halls for the holidays, so anything that gets here late will just be used the following years.

Huntress Sorry, I think my rambling muddled up my message. ^^; I am signing up for sure! My question was, is it okay if I send just generic friendship cards this year instead of the usual winter holiday themed ones?
