So does the NT editor not send out rejections anymore? I've submitted two things a month ago (one specifically for 900, one not) - I have no hope for 900, so forget that - but this limbo is not fun. I'd rather know so I can edit. I don't remember the process being like this.

The NT Editor still sends out rejections. If you entered a submission successfully, you should always gets some kind of message back whether it be rejection, hold over, or acceptance.
Unfortunately when it comes to milestone issues like 900, there is usually a larger influx of submissions, and the editor may or may not get to every themed entry, depending on when they were submitted. A month before an issue is usually the minimum amount of time suggested to submit for a milestone issue, like you did. However, there have also been a few other factors delaying NT Editor feedback recently. Issue 900 has coincided in timing with a couple other themed issues, namely April Fools and Neovia Gothic, so there have already been more submissions filling the system than usual. The NT has also been transitioning in a new editor, Aesop, who is still learning the ropes and figuring out how best to pace reviewing NT submissions while also running other creative contests like Storytelling.
What kind of submissions did you enter? That can also effect when you may hear back, as a comic takes less time to review than a written series. Also for your Issue 900 entry, did you indicate when submitting that it was for a themed issue? It's usually good to put in the submission title or description somewhere that the entry is intended for a specific issue, that way the editor can be sure to look at it in time.

An article, over a month ago with a note for issue 900 and clearly themed for this edition. I'm know I'm not entitled to an acceptance - this isn't my first submission to the NT or last. But people are claiming they submitted on Sunday and are getting NMs.
I guess I'll have to wait and see what tomorrow brings, if 900 is indeed published on schedule.
Thanks anyway.

Yeah, I wish I could tell you the editor's process for reviewing submissions and what order they go in, but alas it's hard to tell. My guess is that the those who submitted in the past week got lucky in that the editor started at the top of the pile first today, but usually it's a big gamble to submit that close to a milestone issue.
I wish you the best! Looks like there's been a lot of last minute neomails today, so who knows what could happen between now and whenever the new issue is published (since yeah, no guarantee it comes out on time tomorrow).

It's out and nada, no rejection NM. I find it odd but what can I do! People are still claiming they submitted this week. Such is life.
