Okay, well, I know it's not exactly an interest check, because I already know a whole lot of people would want to do this. It's also something I'm putting up right now, even though the actual event-thing probably won't happen until early June or something. I'll just forget if I don't post this right now.
What's a fic exchange? Simple, it's like a secret santa, but your gifts are something you write for somebody! yep. that's it. I mean, you don't write any old thing--like a secret santa, the gifts have to be relevant in some way to the recipient, which means it will involve their characters (or just "official franchise" characters they like) or something.
There are a few particulars, though, since people are more anxious about writing other people's characters, so, I'd like some feedback over possible choices to be made!
1. Should gifter-recipient selections be random, or should I manually select them based on who will likely be more familiar with any given character? I like random better, to be honest, but am not sure how comfortable people are with that.
2. Should it be a secret exchange? (ie. you don't know who's writing for you?) or does the nature of a fic mean that you would want to ask direct questions?
3. What is the max word count you're comfortable with writing within a three-week timeframe?
4. What minimum quality (this is the sister guideline to #2 in the Magical Girl Art Exchange) standard should be imposed on all written pieces so we don't have 100-word flash fiction to 10,000-word short stories? Is word count sufficient or even appropriate, or are there other considerations (proofreading, etc) you want to have imposed?
5. Should this be themed in some way? Which sorts of prompts or themes would interest you the most?
I have my own answers to these questions and make the most sense to me, but I sorta just want to know what people think.
sample form (currently)
Characters you'd like to have things written about (at minimum, include 3 different "sources" for your characters: they should be a diverse selection of characters and not just from one roleplay, fandom, story, etc, but multiple)
Representative writings for each character:
Other written places where these characters show up:
Quick summaries of each character:
Willing to act as a backup writer?:
