Lizica - omigod *dies* ...that's about all the verbal expression I can manage at this awesomeness, but to attempt a bit more coherence: aughagh that is gorgeous. And gorgeously atmospheric. And my eye keeps getting drawn back to that FIYAH (which may or may not mean that I have a wee problem; poor clocktower never stood a chance.) This is the most perfect design for her if she was to stay this side of the good guys and still stay decently in character. It hadn't even occurred to me that this might be a tricky thing to pull off, but dang did you pull it off with style. thankyouthankyou C: I originally went into this event expecting to draw a bright, sparkly thing, but somehow ended up with this shady-looking thing that makes Magical Girl Ene look like someone the anime protagonist would consistently see out of the corner of their eye at the scene of the crime and think she's the villain--until 30 episodes in when they're fighting the actual Big Bad, and it turns out that Ene has been secretly aiding the protagonist from the shadows the entire time. So a lot like the Outer Senshi in Sailor Moon, except somewhat less lesbian and somewhat more amiable xP (The Outers were always my favorite, hence why this getup for Ene is so firmly up my alley, even though they were kinda needlessly obstructive and either antagonistic or angsty for an entire season. Ahh, timeless entertainment that shaped the genre.)

Celestial Ahh, glad to hear that you really like it =DDD It was a lot of fun to make, so many options of styles and accessories for Victorian dress! I should probably also give a disclaimer that some details, namely the roses in the background and one layer of the lace, were done with a pre-made brush in CSP, so that lightened the load for some of it xD I actually didn't realize there was a lace brush until after I drew in the first layer of lace manually, and then when I saw the setting I was like, "Haha, how funny would it be if I had just used this originally? Wait... would this actually look good on top? Yes? Well, a little more lace never hurt I suppose." x3

You were so right to tag me, Ginz, and thank you! xD I love how you used his colour scheme, and that the magical girl sceptre looks like a mace, because of course it would!!!

REALLY GOLDEN. his outfit is so EDGY and i like his facial expression and HIS STAFF IS JUST A STRAIGHT-UP MACE and his crown is so great. background is really fitting, too! it's nice with the color scheme, would have never guessed purple would be a good backdrop but the MORE YOU KNOW.

>me: "i'll post comments when everyone is done with theirs" >everyone: is done with theirs >me: OK HERE WE GO Rabbit ♠I see your piece has been promoted to ZoeyAvatar and that's a rare accomplishment, since ZoeyAvatar hardly ever changes! There's so much I love about this--the basic idea is wonderful and it just... fits the two characters you chose to draw so much. Khamet would totally be ecstatic about riding Appa, and Appa is just... chill... as usual.
But what I love most is the costume design and coloring! I love the blues and yellows you used, it matches the background very well and the blending is really superb! And both costumes you designed still managed to be very much distinct, even while they share similar visual motifs. My favorite little details are probably the bow around Appa's horns and Khamet's amazing shoes--the first one, I really like how it's rendered, and the second... honestly... I just love the shoes. ZoeyAh Zoez, I love the design for Dahlia so much! You took her regular outfit and just... added some really subtle things to make it fit the aesthetic! The merging of the leggings/skirt from the original designs into something more magical-girly is one such decision, and my other favorite is how you made the shoulder pads to be that much frilly. The flower is just amped up to OVER 900 and I like the glasses--it almost makes me curious on how she would look with them on!
(I've also gushed to you about the BOOK MACE, THE BOOK IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD, etc etc. You can whack people with it but I can totally imagine Magical Girl Dahlia opening that book and reading some neat spells!)
The library's nice--it's mundane enough with the little lamp detail that really makes it seem ever-so-slightly fantastical in the vein of Harry Potter. Also, the way you colored your shadows is arrrgh, because they're cool you can immediately infer the warm lighting without using too many warm colors over the white! probably necessary with watercolors. June ScarletAH IT'S THE BOIS, Twillie and Jonathan! I absolutely love the Sailor Moon reference--it only kinda fits, but I think those are the best sorts of references. Also, I love that you incorporated battledome weapons into their general designs, because this is Neopets after all. Twillie having that ice aesthetic is a really great touch, considering where she lives.
Also I think that bonus comic is sort of slept on, but it's so thoughtful of you to have a tie-in to Twillie's ongoing series, and it's probably the best theory I've ever come across as to what that pink glowy tree is! It makes perfect sense and it's a great joke--I imagine Jonathan recognizing what it does and being like "WHY MUST YOU MAKE MY LIFE HARDER." HuntressHuntyyyy that frilly dress is amazing, and I think the angle you chose to show it off really succeeded at making it pop out! I'm a sucker for like... I guess graduated-height dresses? And you more-or-less made one come to life, with an accurate read on the gradient, no less! The teardrop amulets and earrings really do add a nice pop of blue to vary the color scheme and add MORE SPARKLES, and I really like the way you incorporated Virga's golden braces in her original design into the shoes, dress, and gloves!
(Speaking of the gloves, they're vaguely superhero-y... I think it's just that little V-shape on them, but either way they provide a nice visual break and provide a nice sense of motion to the glowy-thing in Virga's hands.) CelestialOh boy, that's a lot of detail on the outfit! I like how traditional the magical girl outfit is--reminds me of a ballerina, really--while still keeping a lot of little pieces that remind us that the character is, indeed, a professional reporter. The little tie is probably my favorite such detail--it's very much a something a journalist would wear, just a mini-version of it, and it's very reminiscent of the collars of the Sailor Moon outfits.
The various ribbons snaking around the figure provide a nice sense of motion to the overall image and kind of unites the pops of red together, and those frills on her skirt! I don't even want to know how much time those took. The pink hearts are extremely adorable as well! TwillieAh, yes, Tabitha, best hero! :-D I like how you took her outfit and made it magical, while still preserving that Victorian feel! The pose and coattails do a wonderful job of adding a sense or motion to the outfit. I think the roses could have been used to really solidify the motion of the figure, but they're a gorgeous background element nonetheless.
This might seem like a weird thing to point out, but it's only because I struggle muchly with feet and shoes--the shape of the boots really sell the motion of pose for me, because you can clearly see she's on her tiptoes at that very moment, probably blocking an attack or something, pfft. I also like the light pink on the underlying lace--I don't know if that was intentional but it really adds a bit of unity to the spots of pink/purple you used on her bow and flowers without taking away too much from the focus they provide. LizicaAh I really like your interpretation of this! It very much fits with Ene's character and is so visually distinct with its darker colors! The simplicity of this outfit really works in its favor... because Ene usually dresses simply (it fits with the type of character she is!) I like the little... u-shaped swoops that the underdress and socks/gloves have, they add visual interest without being too distracting and pull Ene together with the background.
Her overdress manages to be simple enough while having these little extra touches. (by "extra," I mean the modern vernacular of Extra, not a synonym to the word "additional"). Her coattails just rest so perfectly on the ground and the shape you used for the shoulders is really appealing. And the lighting! just pulls the whole thing together and makes it extremely atmospheric and lends it so much 3-dimensionality. Ginz ❤EDGYBOI EDGYBOI.
So first off, I really like the posing and facial expression. Edgyfriend broods a lot--it's part of his character, in addition to being really, really edgy--and him staring sort of forlornly at... something... in the backdrop of a starry sky is a really nice idea. I also really like that you made his outfit like, just really polygonal and even kept the little... hexagon-thing around his neck--an element which is repeated on his belt (though obviously, it has more sides) and is really nice to see included. The pointiness of his gloves, shoulder-pads, and shoes is also just... really perfect.
And the staff??? is just a straight-up mace, I love it so much, and I like that his weapon and his tiara thing share that little edgy gem. x) A thing that truly looks like it was designed by somebody who really likes shapes! And I've already said this but I really like the choice of color in the background--obviously the gray syncs up with his tights, but the purple is a really nice visual break and adds something to his original color scheme!
obviously, i've already thanked you before, but i love this, and thank you again! :-D LiouAhhh this is really nice! pink/purple and green are two colors which are hard to make work together--and honestly, the fact that you've got that silver from the tinfoil really helps the color scheme solidify itself. And speaking of that silver color, I really think the tinfoil-ish motifs really make this piece for me--you've managed to stick it everywhere--the bow is made out of tinfoil, some her her underlying clothes are made out of tinfoil, and there's even some tinfoil braided into her hair!
The hair braid is an extremely mundane one, but honestly I think that and the camera really feel true to the character--it adds to that homemade feel that Tracy is supposed to have, without understating the rest of her outfit too much. I think if you went with a more outrageous hairstyle, something definitely would have been lost.
(the dove-like object on her bow is also really neat! nothing fancy to say about it, i just think it's pretty.) WOW DONE i haven't had to think about art since high school.

Aaaahh, Liou, this is so cool! ;_; Thank you so much!! You put so many amazing details in there--from facial details to the background to your gorgeous shading that really illustrates the shiny fabric and the tin foil perfectly, and the swift motifs and the belt radio and is that a tiny little Eridanus constellation made out of chimney swifts, oh my gosh?? The whole pose and design is just plain awesome, and the colors you chose really complement each other and the tin foil nicely, and I am really digging all the creative uses of tin foil (like in the hair and the battle skirt)!! BASICALLY, THANK YOU, LIOU, IT'S BRILLIANT, I LOVE IT, YOU ROCK ;w; <33

*undignified blubbering* Thanks so much Lizica I'm so glad you like! ;A; Tracy was a pleasure to work with. Art ramble: It took me many tries to figure out the colours, I wanted to keep at least some green, but with the tin foil it would have been cold and Slytherin-y, not warm enough for her personality. I just like the look of purple with silver. It also took me a while to figure out her headwear, because magical girls almost never cover their fabulous hair. I wanted Tracy to feel comfortable with her head safely protected from the aliens, though, so a little headdress was not enough. I considered a beret, but thought Tracy might not have the best memories associated with it. >.> Avoided high heels and extra froofles as well so that Tracy could feel safe in case she has to run from aliens, or mafia ghosts, or alien mafia ghosts. I braided her hair - and magically lengthened it - just to include more tin foil, but felt like it was also a more sensible style for her. The tin foil... is magically reinforced and charmed to not crinkle too much. >.> (There's just a light tinny rattle-rattle of her ribbons that makes aliens tremble as she draws near.)
I had more accessories and a whole transformation sequence planned out for her and high hopes of drawing a few simple panels - if I'd had an extra week. ;u; It would have involved... more tin foil! wrapping around Tracy to form her outfit, and ended with Eridanus lighting up. Suggested weapons: a swift-shaped boomerang because those birds look irresistibly like boomerangs (Swiftarang? Chaeturang?), a translucent shield that can grow so as to give even better protection than tin foil, a magical rope (for roof-climbing) like a string of lights which could appear in Tracy's hand as Eridanus pops off her dress. Finishing move suggestion: Trail of Fire. Moni !!! Now that I'm done can I finally collapse in here and say how much I love your Tally piece <3 Once she's tried on that outfit she'll never want to take it off! I love that you incorporated dragonflies as the staff and brooch plus the wing-like shoulderpads. There are just enough frills for her to feel fancy while still running around and kicking. The colours you picked go really well with her skin tone and the hair streaks are exactly what she'd like, gentle fancy colours. Not only is the foreshortening... gaaAAhhhahssjsdjfh-awesome, I also love that the pose shows just how short she is! It reinforces the "small but deadly" vibe. (Is this from Mea-mea's point of view?) The ground-cracking effect is definitely something she'd do. Thanks so much!! Halp, I have started to comment but now how do I stop? Rabbit ♠ Rabbit I am super impressed that you managed to design a pretty dress for a giant six-limbed creature. The shades of blue are lovely and the gradients set apart each segment of the dress while keeping it clear that it's all the same garment. And those clouds! (Might you perchance have a sliiight predilection for weather patterns? =o) It's adorable how the two outfits match each other! While Khamet's more linear pattern helps make him stand out more. My favourite detail has to be Khamet's shoes, though. They suit his character in a way I could never have predicted. Zoey I am a sucker for golden ochre and for blue shadows and they make me want to take a big quenching drink of this picture. Dahlia's hair looks so soft pouring out from under that flower. Loving the asymmetrical sleeves, those would look interesting in battle to highlight different moves she makes. Major kudos for convincing watercolour to shape clothing folds. The crisp white of the boots and gloves stands out so nicely and give me an impression of speed - better behave in this library. Also loving the little bits of lighting from behind. June Scarlet Omw yes, Twillie is queen of the mountain! Her magically lengthened hair is very fitting and goes great with the swooshy cloak. That is exactly Jonathon's face, you managed to make him look both confident and a bit awkward at the same time. (And hey, he shouldn't complain, he's not even stuck in a dress!) Nice matching poses and complementary colours for the two of them. I really like the background which reminds me of classic anime transformation sequences, and how you did the glow against it. Huntress Aaah she's so adorable, you made her hair so glossy and silky and poofy! Now she reminds me of Neptune. Many kudos for the soft wavy folds of the dress and the frill technique you used there. She seems to be bursting out of the sea. It's keeping so nicely with a watery theme without actually splashing water around. The diaphanous white ribbon is simple and soft, the yellow bands bring such a nice pop to offset all the cool colours, such a bright yellow is tricky to include but you kept the areas just thin enough. How did you even make that spark in her hands it's so bright and defined and reminds me of classic Sailor Moon style I want to watch some right now~ Celestial Bea's fabulous magical hair in full magical girl regalia, at last! You kept it nicely fluffy, textured by highlights, and the blue you used is saturated enough to make it a clearly magical colour without lightening her hair. The highlighting on the blue skirt looks so complex! The white lace goes very well with her hair texture, and stands out nicely against the lighter blue. I like how the sharper lines of the red ribbons break up the foamy frills. The shadows of the ribbons are well defined and add to the floatiness and movement. Kudos on alternating the colours in such a balanced way. Such a cute cravat that reminds me she means business. All those little ornaments are like a PreCure level of detail. Twillie The pose!! Hnngh the way her head is tilted forward is so perfect to show her concentration. The shoulder-poofs help show the angle of her shoulders too. And the way her feet are pointed give me the impression that she is preparing to balance herself against the recoil from the power of her attack! Cell shading is so difficult and here you made the lighting so intense, especially on her tailcoats, it really conveys the bright flash happening at her umbrellatip. The pink of the little bow is soft and the lace so frothy, it offsets the crisp blues nicely. Lizica The lightiiing *sob* And the cool bluish shadows yes that's all I need~ I love how her sparkle-aura comes from actual fire! It's both a reassuring glow and a reminder of how dangerous this lady is. The shoulder pads' flame-like shape is gorgeous but I also like how it seems like her dress is blooming open around her shoulders. Love how you drew her hair, simply the way you used varying sizes for the strands, very natural. The jagged dark hems add to the rebellious punky aura and the boots are so good - those creases around the ankles!! I am totally biased but would definitely go with this lady and do whatever she says when she emerges from the night. Ginz ❤ I was wondering what the Edgy outfit would look like because it is not easy to make geometric shapes into clothes, and wow! You kept the outfit so edgy, but just curved enough that it can realistically wrap around a human body! The pose was a really good call, I think seeing his top from the side shows off the edginess better than if we were seeing the front. Kudos on drawing legs from behind. The way the spikes point slightly outwards make them seem safer for him to wear! His surprisingly gentle expression stands out very nicely from all the edges. Ditto for the good choice of the purple - such a magical colour - which helps offset the warm colours without contrasting too much.

Now for anything formal he needs to go to, he can look fancy in just one quick transformation sequence instead of hours of prep time! Thank you as well to everyone who's given such lovely feedback for everyone, both for the time you gave and the fuzzies =D This event has already been a ton of fun and great to see everyone's designs, and sharing in everyone's excitement just adds to it even more so ^^ I plan on writing some as well this weekend, but for now, June Scarlet I'm still not over the piece you made for me and I couldn't help but make some fan art of it in return x3 I think what really tickled me was just seeing Jonathon in a suit for the first time. I've never drawn or seen him in one before, and I just knew I had to join in on it the moment I saw your piece. He's just looks so dapper!!! not sure what that pose is though, and I don't think he does either. Just trying to look cool while internally going on how to do so.

Twillie Fanart of fanart? What is this madness??! I know not everyone did a staff, but those who did, you where so thoughtful and creative with them! Meanwhile, I was like like, "I guess since she lives on Terror Mountain, I'll give her a snowflake/crystal thing." Apparently, though, that was enough to get a comment that someone noticed the Terror Mountain theme, so I guess it works. It just pales in comparison to all the other amazing staffs.
