It's time to start thinking of ideas for the upcoming April Fools! Last year didn't take off, but there was an idea to do a parody of The Onion called The Coconut: ntwriters.proboards.com/thread/52855/april-fools-day-2018We've got more time this year, so let's make something happen! Post your ideas, let's brainstorm.

I guess I'll get the ball rolling here.
So Neopets Mobile (not sure if it's an app or responsive site) is coming up this summer. So we could maybe tie this into that somehow. Like saying that the Coconut is the mobile newspaper of Neopets, or saying that Lutari Island is coming back or something.

June Scarlet I like the idea of The Coconut Replacing the Neopian Times, and how this will transform journalism in Neopia, and a taste of what the articles will look like in the future! x)

Something I kind of thought of, but probably don't know too much about alone, is fabricating a step or character or feature to the current Lost Desert plot. Like, everyone in the NT just starts posting about this crazy new character in the story that doesn't actually exist, with people giving opinions on their personality and backstory, shipping them with other characters, making funny comics about them, and so on. Something like that x3
I have not been following this plot at all, though, so I don't know how well something like this would fit in with what's been going on. (if the plot is even still happening (but if it's not! then put up a fake new plot step tricking people into thinking it's still happening! or a fake prize shop! or something!))

I'm not so sure that this would work out, especially if it's something like a fake prize shop. You can actually view the prize shop here. As far as I can remember, I don't think it's even possible for us to create a April Fools prank based on a ongoing event/plot due to the timeline, whether there would be be new steps or if the plot/event will be ending soon.

Ahaha I was all up for the Coconut but now this is really tempting too because there are so many ways to make it work! Considering the speed at which the plot's been going, I say it's not impossible it'd still be going when April comes, and even if it's wrapped up, there can always be a sequel. A brand new character comes in to save the day, might as well make them super overpowered and as charming as Chadley! Aurrick is the true heir to the throne of the joint LD realms and must reclaim it in a sequel to appease the land! Shenanigans where Vyssa is revealed to be the one keeping Amira trapped! The ghost of King Coltzan finally gets angry enough about what they're doing to his poor kingdom that he possesses someone to get revenge! Alas, he body-snatches Aymas Xendrick / Malkus Vile / AAA / Boochi. We already have the prize shop and know what's in it? But what about the shiny premium prize shop with the better prizes? What, doesn't everyone have access to it?

The new Legends and Letters App is coming out on the 17th, in just a few days, and it will probably tie in with the plot. I want to see how exactly everything fits together before trying to figure out how to make it into an April Fools.

Thank you so much for taking the reins on this, June.
I'm personally down for "The Coconut," Neopia's finest (and newest) source of factual information. But I'm game for whatever. I usually do weird and wacky articles. Probably could even rope my twin into doing something goofy with me.

Also let's not forget that we're in the middle of January, so a lot can happen between now and then.

oh yeah! and the idea coconut being based off the onion isn't a problem either, because i asked scrappy about this and she said it was a-okay if we went through with it.

So the App is out... and I don't know what to do with it. I'm still relying on screenshots, and I'm not sure what the whole story is, and we're probably looking at February until everyone can get the chance to play it, let alone play it all the way through.
Generally for collabs, we say to submit around a month before the collab date. So if the April Fools Issue is March 29th, then we're looking at February 29th to start submitting.
I'm personally leaning a lot more toward The Coconut simply because it'd be a lot easier to put on together.

Actually, I think a combination might be interesting -- the main prank is making The Coconut the latest source of Neopian news, but a handful of entries will reference this amazing side character in the plot. Maybe say how odd it is they're off-screen in most of the chapter images, leave people going to check and see if they'd just skimmed and missed something. Because the thing is, even with an actual character we're drawn to in a plot, the Times won't have EVERY article about them -- maybe a couple articles, a story, and a few comics at best.

The Coconut seems like the safest bet and can easily include other ideas that come up, yep! I'll be happy to see our friend mr. coconut return. It works for comics too - many opportunities for "Local [Petspecies]" makes ridiculous claim / is in socially awkward predicament.
I don't know if this was asked last year: what about short stories? How might they fit into the theme?

Well, my Dinner with the Scarlets comic was going to be called "Dinner with the Scarlets: No Dinners to Date" and it was going to be June reacting to an article published in The Coconut about their comic. So maybe short stories could do something similar? Reading The Coconut, working for The Coconut, finding out about the new newspaper, and so on.
