It'd be cuter if the mute button worked (it didn't for me in Firefox), if the custom cursors weren't obnoxious, and if you could stop the falling snow animation. This literally seems like they found someone in cryosleep who had taught themselves coding and graphic design on Myspace, revived them, and asked them to design a site theme. I'm half expecting them to announce that glow and shadow fonts are also coming back. Like Breakingchains said, none of this stuff has been even remotely popular in the web design world for over a decade. At a time when the site is trying to transition to being mobile-friendly - to the present/future - it's not a good look to show a preference toward extremely outdated design elements.

Well, I thought Halloween was over, then I saw the items they've been giving out this Advent Calendar.

Ooh the Premium frame is nice. I don't know what I'd do with it, but it is pretty.

Because I've always thought all the Advent Calendar frames looked really nice, and if they started giving them out as wearables for every new design each year, I'd stay Premium for SURE (I mean, I have no plans on cancelling any time soon, but not the point) or at least make sure to sign up every December at least.

This isn't the first time they've done the frame, actually -- Y17 also got one (NP item, not premium).

So.. has any one else been disappointed with the animations this year? They all feel short, pointless, and end abruptly. Normally I try to comment on each one the last few years but haven't felt like doing so this year as it doesn't feel much effort had been put into them story-wise. Also I'm noticing we're missing some of the traditional animations like the on-going stories (like the unlucky Ogrin and MAGAX & Nox sitcom) and there hasn't been any which referenced events from this year (like the small events we had for Meridell & Brightvale's redraws, Altador Cup, Daily Dare, Games Master Challenge, THE WRAITH RESURGENCE).
Prizes I guess have been alright though I feel some either have the wrong category or JS missed out on something. I think I'm going to wait until the year is over to give my full thoughts.

In the past, it seems the items have always had a pretty direct connection to the animation, and I don't feel that's the case this year. I mean... there's a connection, but the animation might have a gift box or two and then there's a seemingly random item. Okay... I guess that's what was in the gift box?

I think it may have been disappointing as there were times the animations did not not make any sense. One that stood out for me in terms of nonsense was a Bruce having a hard time standing while skating, only to somehow slip/trip and land on the ice, with fireworks appearing in the sky soon after, unless I'm missing something here.

There was a MAGAX & Nox one, to be fair. It's just that the items, as with most days, weren't all that related so it was quite forgettable (and they used Nox's plushie art in the animation for no real reason). There's still time for the Unfortunate Holiday Ogrin as that normally happens on Ogrin Day itself (28th), but I wouldn't count on there being related items for that either.

Yeah the animations haven't been the greatest this year. Also I think I missed the MAGAX and Nox one because I don't remember it at all, lol.
Also re: today's animation, I too knit by repeatedly jabbing a scarf with knitting needles

Did anyone else notice the Ogrin wearing the suit had eyelashes (the one commonality between all female Neopets is eyelashes) while the Ogrin wearing the dress had no eyelashes (the commonality of male Neopets)? I can't tell if this is meant to be a subtle inclusivity thing, or if the artist was just tracing from DTI - which picks a gender at random when starting from scratch - and not paying attention.

Eh, wouldn't be the first time they've traced.

I came here to mention this. Yeah I'm headcanoning that they're crossdressing at least?
