Algernon and René continued their way through the woods. Algernon loped lazily along the ground while René would flit from tree to tree, pausing occasionally to preen his wings. The two conversed as they usually did. To the casual outsider, their discussions might seem to border on the argumentative, but the two generally peppered their language with sarcasm and light barbs in general. "Isn't it odd our darkest hour is what brings us all together?" René quipped, perched on a branch, his head tilted slightly to Algernon below. "After all, we don't just all gather for a box social." "Tough times make for strange bedfellows." Algernon said nonchalantly. "It is natural for any kind of creature to group together in a time of crisis." "Ahh, so you would only choose to socialize when there was the threat of death?" "That's not what was implying. I simply stated that the situation just makes it more likely." "Well Al, that make be true for the other residents of the island, but you're not exactly the one for "hanging out". Perhaps it is fear that motivates you?" "Fear motivates all of us," he glanced upwards "it's one thing we can all have in common, that is why a gathering such as this should arise. However it is not just death that is being feared, it's the uncertainty, that someone among us isn't playing by society's rules, and that represents not just a threat to our life, but our way of life." "Interesting point," René looked over his right wing, noticing a group of creatures nearby, heading in a similar direction. "Why don't you put your hypothesis to the test?" "I'll take you up on that," Algernon remarked, shrugging. The two wander over to where Kopi, Svar, and Lacintell were. Algernon waved one of his paws. "Hello fellow citizens! Are you all heading for the meeting?" René landed on a branch nearby and eyed up the fire bird. He gave a cheerful squawk and quipped: "Nice plumage, how do you get your feathers to be so red?"

At present, the two of them had both gotten stuck inside a thick bush when they’d been attempting a shortcut. It was extremely embarrassing, and this was something that both Verso and Recto agreed upon. They did not tend to agree often, but in their own way, today they’d managed to do so twice: Once, regarding the bush, and twice, earlier in the day, when they decided in favor of going through the trouble of traveling to the meeting. It was nerve-wracking, and terrifying, and so much worse besides, but at the very least, the circumstances were motivating. And if they could get to the meeting at all, that in itself would be a minor victory and would mean that not all was lost. Still, the pair was easily distractible, and sometimes in horrifying circumstances, you need a distraction or a break--especially so if, on top of everything else, you’ve just spent the last half hour fruitlessly trying to get out of a bush while feeling like the entire forest is passing you by. When they saw the Christmas Island shrew approaching, there had been a hissed discussion, and a whispered tussle, and the bush swayed, but finally a small dragon’s head attached to a long neck poked out from it. “Halt, go no more,” it said to the shrew, who froze. “Cool your heels ‘gainst the floor,” said a second dragon’s head, emerging to the right of the first head. “If you wish to cross this bower--” “First you must sustain our glower.” “My name is Verso,” said the head on the left. “If I too were so,” said the head on the right. “So answer us this riddle plain,” said the first. “Last week’s weather had not much rain,” said the second. There was a pause. Nothing moved except for the breeze. The small shrew looked thoroughly confused. Finally, the head on the left, Verso, turned to the one on the right. “Rain? RAIN? What was that, Recto, I set that up for you perfectly! You completely mangled our intimidating entrance!” The head on the right, Recto, leaned away in apathy. “I was really feeling the intimidation,” he said. “You weren’t feeling it? You weren’t feeling it? We worked hard on that, lean back over here, you moron, I’ll give you something to feel--” The ensuing scuffle finally knocked both heads out of the bush, and the shrew saw in mild relief and amusement that there was in fact only one small dragon creature before her, rather than two--albeit a two- headed one. Any hopes of a daunting mood thoroughly dashed, she continued on her path around the bush. “Oh! Wait wait wait!” exclaimed Verso, the head on the left. He desperately shambled them into her path. “To pass, you must first know that one of us always lies, and the other always tells the truth!” “Well--then that’s you, isn’t it?” said the shrew, pointing an unimpressed paw at Verso. “I--what? What? How does that work?” “Well, if the stipulation of your riddle is to be regarded with any weight, then obviously the head that spoke it is the head that tells the truth,” reasoned the shrew. “Yeah, that does ruin the whole setup, doesn’t it--... I mean--” Verso quickly changed tones and reached his arm up in order to reach his chin, and attempted to stroke it in a mysterious, passively intrigued way. “ How can you be so certain I’m not the one who always lies~?” he asked. “That’s a very eye-popping chartreuse you’ve got going,” Recto interrupted brightly, gesturing at the shrew’s rather subdued grey. The shrew waved both forelegs in his direction as if to say, “There, you see?” and Verso shot a scathing glare at Recto, who grinned rather puckishly. Satisfied, the shrew continued along on her way. “Wait, come back!” cried Verso after she was already some distance away. “I forgot, you’re only supposed to have one question!” He attempted to take several steps after the shrew, but because Recto continued to stand still, both wound up in a heap on the forest floor. “ What has three legs in the morning, five in the afternoon, and ten in the evening??” “Yes, good job, Verso, that’s exactly how that one goes.” “OH BE QUIET LET’S KEEP GOING.” Wooo, finally posting~ xD
Verso (head on the left) and Recto (head on the right) are a small two-headed dragon, the type where one lies and the other tells the truth, and they are not always terribly coordinated with each other for most things, be it rhyming, riddling, or walking.
They got stuck in a bush on the way to the meeting and attempt to riddle-accost a shrew, but the shrew is much better at this than they are.
They're probably in the northern Highwind Woods somewhere? I dunno, I’m flexible. (Also, aaaaugh, whoops, sorry, didn’t mean to overlap, Jay! D= Verso and Recto totally need to commiserate with Nicos at some point, though, please. xD)

Makell listened to the soft sounds of the Winding River as she walked towards the meeting place at the Highwind Woods. She lifted her head and felt the air and let the peaceful sounds go through her body. She knew this was going to be the most peaceful she will be for the next while. She heard a noise. She whisked her head around. Oh, what a luxuriously lavish coat! She immediately turned her body and scanned the area. Her nails clawed into the dirt beneath her paws, ready to fight. The senses in her whiskers heightened as she slowly bared her teeth. And in an instant she saw a cat. A cat that appeared to be a bare-skinned Sphynx rapidly coming towards her. Makell’s eyes narrowed as she concentrated on the cat, aware of her surroundings in case this cat was a diversion from another, more menacing threat. “Such a majestic creature as yourself, surely you wouldn't mind if I nuzzle for warmth just a little bit?”“You… want to, what?” Makell spoke in a low tone of disbelief and annoyance. She surveyed the Sphynx and then the river and land beside her. She couldn’t see or hear of any other animals. Surely this cat was lying and had an underlying agenda. To get close to her to kill, and then dispose of her body in the river, that had to be it. The tiger took a few steps back. “What are you doing here,” she growled. “And what do you really want from me?” On her journey to the Highwind Woods, Makell meets Coaster (Genevieve) who wants to be close to Makell. Makell is incredibly untrusting of Genevieve, believing she has underlying motives to kill her, and asks what she wants.

Quicksnap scratched at an eye ridge, not replying immediately. “I don’t know,” he finally admitted. “I want to. But I don’t know how rational anybody will be right now” Another snarl rippled across his long snout. “I want to end the ones responsible for this. And the meeting is liable to mostly be fearmongering prey animals. Paranoid and jumpy. Not that I blame them, but when it comes to fight or flight their usual response is to run away and hide. And that isn’t going to stop this.” He looked over his shoulder. “She deserves better than for us to try to hide in our nests and burrows and pretend nothing is happening.” Short reply! Quicksnap waffles, not entirely sure how much good the meeting will accomplish. He’s worried most creatures- especially the prey species- will be more evasive about the problem rather than working to address it. Tiger

Taakeyrr swallowed back a surprised chitter at the kaprosuchus' suspicion the herbivores would all be panicking. She looked to her father, who had tilted his head slightly, but otherwise not reacted, as far as she could tell. Tentatively, she said, "Well - they wouldn't gather up somewhere just so they could panic and ignore the whole problem, right? That wouldn't make sense." "And if they were to try," Soaitsae added, "that's all the more reason for animals who want to do something to be there; to keep the whole meeting from dissolving if some of the animals panic. And if there's any useful information there, from anyone..." Taakeyrr let a moment go by for Quicksnap to respond before saying, "And lots of prey animals live in herds; they'd understand not wanting to pretend it's not happening. ...And some of them'll give a good kick before running away to a burrow." Taakeyrr and Soaitsae stick up for the prey animals, pointing out that a meeting would be kind of silly if a bunch of them are going to run back to their burrows, and that even if that does happen, probably a crocodile and some dinosaurs could help get things back on track. The small group of young creatures sat enthralled, staring at the storyteller in front of them as he spun his tale. "It's true!" he said, raising a paw as if swearing an oath of honesty. "I saw it with my own eyes - it stretched waaaaay up into the clouds, maybe even rising above the Mists themself!" This sent excited whispers through the small group of leverets. Something that could pierce the Mists, travel past them? Unheard of! As the others talked among themselves, one of them - a young thing with wings tucked close against her back - crept closer. "Mister Jack?" she asked. "Did you really see a beanstalk grow that high?" "I did," he replied solemnly. "I would have climbed it, too, if the Mists hadn't closed in," he sighed. "That made it too difficult to see clearly enough to climb safely." "But what happened to it?" asked another, little stubs poking out from the top of his head. "How come it's not still there?" "I suppose only the spirit knows," Jack replied. "Perhaps they, in their wisdom, took it away so little ones like yourselves wouldn't get any ideas about trying to climb it all alone," he added, giving the group of young creatures a stern look, as if to discourage them from going to look for any evidence of this mystical beanstalk. This answer seemed to satisfy their curiosity, and they returned to murmuring amongst themselves. As they did, Jack took this break to rise to his hind legs, stretching to his full height, and took a look around the area, sniffing at the air. All seemed safe - no signs of any danger about. Good - the young ones were already uneasy enough over the recent happenings; the last thing they needed now was some danger to send them all running for cover. While some might be too young to understand the implications of the recent events, they could definitely understand that something was amiss, even if they might not fully grasp what it was. As he kept watch, another of the older, winged hares came to take their turn keeping watch over the young ones. Exchanging nods, the other took their place keeping watch, and Jack hopped away. He'd heard the birds that morning, spreading their message of a meeting to take place at sunset. It could be good to go - after all, the more opinions the better, right? At least any who attended could speak their mind, or see what the others thought. And so it was that the jackalope began to make his way to where the Winding River met the Highwind Woods. Meet Jack! He's a jackalope with a penchant for mischief and tall tales. Perhaps you've heard of him? He spends some time entertaining some young jackalopes and Skvaders with a tale of a giant beanstalk that reached into the clouds, but the evidence of such a thing actually existing is slim to none. Probably just another one of his tall tales he loves corrupting the youth with. *tsks* Having already heard of the meeting to take place, he decides to mosey on over that-a-way. He's probably somewhere on-route there.

Taakeyrr seemed surprised. "Well - they wouldn't gather up somewhere just so they could panic and ignore the whole problem, right? That wouldn't make sense."
"And if they were to try," Soaitsae added, "that's all the more reason for animals who want to do something to be there; to keep the whole meeting from dissolving if some of the animals panic. And if there's any useful information there, from anyone ..."Quicksnap couldn’t really argue with that, so he only gave a reluctant rumble of assent. "And lots of prey animals live in herds; they'd understand not wanting to pretend it's not happening. ...And some of them'll give a good kick before running away to a burrow."That startled a laugh out of the kaprosochus. It was a tired, hollow bark of a laugh, but still a laugh. “A fair point. I’ve certainly no desire to get on the bad side of a megaloceros or a pachy- alright then. I suppose the worst that can come of it is nothing, and we don’t really lose anything by trying except for time.” He finally crested the top of the slope, drawing up even with the dinosaurs. “Where is the meeting? I’m afraid I haven’t been paying much attention to the gossip, and you probably won’t want to wait up for me seeing as cold-bloods can only move so quickly.” Quicksnap concedes that there are some scary, formidable herbivores out there, and agrees to come to the meeting. But he’s not really been paying attention, so asks where it’s happening and lowkey if he can come along with the dilos- since he’s a reptile, not an avian, and a good bit slower than them.

Soaitsae fell into step alongside the kaprosuchus. “We can go together,” he said mildly. “I don’t want to run all the way, and our walking speeds shouldn’t be too different. Taakeyrr, after a moment’s fumbling trying to walk behind her father without being in his tailspace or stepping into the river, looped around Quickspan to walk on his other side. “The meeting’s where the river meets the Highwind Woods - right?” She tilted her head at her father; he clicked twice in confirmation. “If we miss anything, Xsabaskis should be able to catch us up,” Taakeyrr went on. “She went on ahead. And knowing her, she’s going to run as much of the way as she can.” The younger dilophosaur tilted her head again, this time at Quicksnap. “How long’s it been since we were in the woods? It seems like it’d be uncomfortable.” Soaitsae and Taakeyrr say nonesense, they’ll go at Quicksnap’s ( Shinko) pace to get to the meeting. Taakeyrr fills him in on where it’s located, and asks how long it’s been since he’s been in the forest, since giant crocodile probably == difficult to wind through closely-spaced trees.

He. Was. Terrified. It was true that there were fewer predators after him. It was true that most predators around here ate fish instead. But the poor fish...they didn't have a say. Much like he didn't back in those mountains, but back then, and even now, there was one strange animal instinct that gave him hope and a reason to live, even before he met her... Recaito lowered his antlers, steadying the piece of birch bark with a hoof, carefully aiming his antler at the thin piece of parchment-like substance. Moving his head in a few circle-like erratic jerks, he looked at his work again. Another flower. Evidence of nature on another piece of nature. The little huemul deer smiled a sort of lopsided smile. In his culture, he would have been another Strange One. But had it not been for the first Strange One, he never would have discovered the one thing that made him less nervous... Until he realized it was evidence of life for predators to find him, much like carelessly scattering leaves on a trail instead of gingerly cantering them at all times. There was more than berry juice and wastefulness to worry about today, though. He could feel it. The birds on the wind told him so...there was death, which was ALWAYS scary, and a meeting for animals taking place soon. His first thought was the unicorn--with her hide so bright, she could very well be a target! The deer crept out of his most unusual hole from beneath a tree, carefully covering the opening with leaves, and trotted off--but carefully, carefully, so as not to upset his home. There he crept from bush to bush, darting so as not to be seen--which for a four-foot deer, proved to be a mammoth task. Spotting his friend, Recaito's heart leapt, as he very nearly forgot his worries and dashed to her, but remembered at the last second that there was still indeed danger on Naelus, so he continued to keep to the shadows, until he saw it. Another creature definitely not native to the Andes or Huacayan Mountains, therefore completely unrecognizable, seeming to be latching onto Inara with all its might! Letting out a piercing scream, Recaito tackled the unicorn to the ground, determined not to let whatever it was get her. "Inara!" he cried, "Are you all right?" ... The deer suddenly felt as if he made a terrible mistake, and pawed the dirt slightly, wishing for a piece of birch bark to calm his nerves. Meet Recaito the huemul deer, ever sporting his fuzzy antlers instead of scraping them for maximum paintbrush usage. Painting calms him in a world full of terror, much like Inara ( Ginz ❤). But he thinks the unicorn is being strangled by the octopus on her back ( Liou), and, without thinking, tackles the two. Things get quiet and awkward for a moment after that.

Calix wasn’t lost. Maybe turned around. Misplaced. Adrift. Off course, perhaps. But not lost. It didn’t become of a leader to be lost. But when he came across a patch of sand that he was sure he’d been to before, and instead found some paw-prints that were surprisingly similar to his own, he instead made it his new mission to find the owner. His inauguration could wait. His followers would anticipate his arrival. After all, it was most unbecoming of a ruler to arrive on time. And without a female by his side. Maybe his inauguration could also be his wedding. What a novel idea! Instead he came across a wandering jackalope. That was a decidedly less novel idea. One sniff of the air had already told him that the jackalope was male - he had an acute sense for all things female - but he was also prey. And prey was only useful for eating, and maybe the occasional idle chatter. “Hello, my delicious meat-filled friend!” Calix announced as he pounced over the jackalope in one easy stride and crouched down to face the little creature. He was by no means the biggest creature on Naelus, but still imposing enough for some light intimidation (his favourite). “I don’t suppose I might ask you for some help?” He inquired with a toothy grin. Calix possessed on two types of grins - one for prey, and one for females. “I have been on the lookout for some company on this fine day - i’m sure you can relate, being such an awfully small creature in such an awfully large expanse of land…” Calix was briefly distracted as his shimmering mane reflected scintillating glow around them. He was often distracted by himself. “Anyway, to get to the point, I was moseying on down to that meeting we’re having - which is to become my inauguration as leader of Naelus and also possible wedding if we are to be so fortunate today - when I couldn’t help but notice some rather enticing paw marks on the sand just over that hill.” He took a moment to briefly motion behind him, in which there were most definitely no hills. “The paw looks remarkably like this.” Calix held his own paw out for the jackalope to inspect. “Might I inquire as to whether you have witnessed such a beauty thus far today? It does look to be a mightily delectable print. Of course, you also look mightily delectable, but for quite different reasoning.” Calix couldn’t help but lick his lips. But no sooner had his tongue snaked back into his mouth did a strange feeling accost his mind. Guilt. “You know, this is why they tell you not to play with your food. Once I start talking to bite-size morsels, my mind reels with images of you all waiting on my every paw and pad. I bet you have a family, correct? A delicious family that I could devour in one magnificent pounce!” He swiped the air with his paw, but then drooped his head solemnly. “Or! You could all dance around my feet in a fabulous manner whenever I need to walk anywhere. And how can I make those kinds of decisions?!” he cried out, and began rolling around on the grass in apparent agony. “The life of a predator is much too difficult!” Calix misplaces his sense of direction, but finds new purpose in a mysterious paw-print in the sand he had recently visited. He finds Birdy and decides that he would make a delicious snack great little critter to ask for assistance. However, Calix's brain moves a thousand miles an hour and shortly after realising that Jack would be a great meal, he is plagued by guilt at the thought of eating a possible follower, and does what any great leader would do in such a situation.

“You… want to, what ?”Genevieve advanced, relishing the opportunity to engulf her cheek in the magnificent warmth of this new friend-- The tiger took a few steps back. “What are you doing here,” she growled. “And what do you really want from me?” "Ah--oh. Ahem." Genevieve stiffened and retreated somewhat as well; alarmed at the defensive display from the beast that, though beautiful and technically kindred, could easily flatten and eviscerate her with a single swipe, she chuckled nervously. "Ahaha, wherever are my manners? I am called Genevieve, and yourself?" She pivoted and gave a small flourish with her tail (retrieving it from below her legs) as she blinked slowly and continued with a modicum more confidence (and increasing dryness to match as the sun bathed her skin), "I was merely searching for a morsel of fish for sustenance before this meeting, but after a... small mishap,"--she flicked a couple droplets off her ears to demonstrate--"I was taking a moment to convalesce before resuming the journey, when I noticed the wondrously smooth and warm fur surrounding your visage, and was simply hoping to take brief refuge in your shade and perhaps have your strong accompaniment along the way." Genevieve is alarmed at Nova (Makell)'s sudden ferocity but introduces herself and tries to calmly explain that she just wants a hug ;~; would like to go with Makell to the meeting, for protection at the very least.

“On your back? To the meeting? Together? Really? What a brilliant idea, Inara - though that's only natural, coming from you.”“Of course, of course,” Inara said, basking in her friend’s flattery. She felt the weight and slightly viscous texture of the octopus and they slid onto her and settled behind her neck. Inara loved having company, and an extra set of eyes would definitely be useful. Hopefully that way she wouldn’t be started by anything else. (In Inara’s defense, Dara’s camouflage abilities were rather impressive!) She ambled along, amicably listening to Dara’s chatter. “I hear you,” she agreed. “Unicorns aren’t exactly known for traveling in packs either. I would be surprised if any others of my kind turned up at the meeting. But hey, what are friends for?” “Your traps?” She asked, interested. Traps and tools sounded useful to defend oneself. Even though she didn’t want to think about it, maybe it would be wise to have a plan, just in case. Unicorns were peaceful creatures. Her innate Fight or Flight response was pretty much 100% flight. “Sure, we can stop by your storage tree. It’s not directly on the way, but it should be just a small detour, and we have time,” she said, looking at the shadows cast by herself and the trees. Sunset would still take a while to arrive. She was making her way to Dara’s storage tree, occasionally asking the octopus for directions to make sure she wasn’t leading them amiss, when it happened. From the shadows, a creature emerged hastily, producing a piercing scream that made her hair stand on end. She let out a whinny as she felt herself being tackled to the ground. Her heart was beating fast, her mind racing, filling up with thoughts about the recent attacks and whether this was it for her… “Inara! Are you all right?”“Recaito?” She recognized his voice immediately. And not only his voice. As the blur in her head settled down, she saw her deer friend on the ground next to her, pawing the dirt. She stared at him in confusion. “What happened? Are YOU all right?” She asked, concerned, while getting up gingerly. She should have known the recent news would affect him. He was always a little jumpy, after all. So much for not being startled again, she thought, trying to suppress a chuckle. Inara has a nice casual chat with Liou as they ride on her back. She agrees to make a quick detour to stop by their storage tree before the meeting. On their way there, they are tackled by Mostly Harmless (flufflepuff) Inara thinks they're being attacked (OH NO!), and is confused and slightly amused once the "danger" has passed. (Liou, I'm not sure if Dara's suckers would have kept them latched onto Inara as they were tackled, or if they would have fell off, so I didn't mention them, but rest assured she would be concerned about her octopus friend too! Maybe once the shock wears off a bit more next post, haha)

Kopi and Tash listened to what the firebird had to say. He talked about how there was safety in numbers. Kopi wasn’t sure if that was the case. It depended on who was together, and whoever murdered Beech could be at the meeting as well and hurt other animals, including him and Tash. Even if nobody in the meeting did anything, the one who did could strike while everyone is together, as Svar said. Tash, however, wasn’t fazed by any of what Svar said. Yes, the one who was causing all of this madness could strike while everyone was together, but there would be a large group of animals at the meeting. If anyone tried anything at the meeting, they would have dozens of very different and most likely very mad animals after them. Tash was going to mention this to Svar when he took off into the air, screeching about a “human” on his way up. Kopi hid behind Tash and nervously looked around. He noticed a figure nearby. Kopi wasn’t… sure who this was… Kopi was cautious around every animal. Sometimes he was more focused on staying safe than paying attention to the animal, which meant he occasionally forgot faces. Had Kopi and this animal met before? Kopi got in front of Tash and took on a defensive stance. Tash walked around him and towards this animal. She was curious about who they were and felt like they were no harm. The cunicanine glared at Tash as she did this. At times, she was too trusting. As Kopi watched, a couple voices called out to them. Kopi jumped up and turned towards them. It was a bird and some sort of monkey. Their names were… René and Algernon, he thought? He was just going to avoid using names until he was sure. They asked about going to the meeting. So many animals were going to the meeting right now. That made sense, when Kopi thought about it. It was likely that every animal on the island was going to the meeting. Everyone definitely wanted some answers about what was going on. “Uh, y-yeah, we’re all headed for the meeting,” Kopi said nervously. He wished he didn’t come off as apprehensive. “I take it you’re going as well?” Kopi and Tash listen to Svar ( Celestial ) speak, with Kopi being worried and Tash not being affected by what he said, when he is scared by Lacintell ( Kozma ). Kopi isn't quite sure if he and Lacintell met before. Kopi gets defensive while Tash decides to get closer. At that time, René and Algernon ( Thundy ) came by and asked about the meeting. Kopi responds that they're all headed there and asks if they are as well.

It was a nice warm day and the sun was shining bright; The dog basked in the surf, beneath a wash of light. He had a stick 'tween his teeth, and sand tangled in his hair; But as the day ebbed on, he slowly 'came aware - of whispers in the wind, the buzz and smell of fear. He lifted up his head: the heck was hap'ning here? He stood and turned around to face the hills that rose behind, and beyond them verdant trees: If he went, what would he find? He'd been here a week or two, and he hadn't yet left the sand. If he dared to leave here now, would he like what he found inland? Maybe he'd find some noms there, Maybe he'd find new pals!Or maybe he'd discover amazing new locales! ... But the whispers carried on the wind were somber; A chill rippled up the Doggo's spine. ... Maybe he'd go explore later. For now? There were sticks to find! Doggo can sense the tension and fear in the air. He debates going to investigate, but chickens out and decides to hunt for sticks instead.

Morag listened as the rabbit -whose name she recalled dimly as Mochi- spoke. She vaguely remembered the previous night, having stayed up long talking to Mochi and eating the delicious treats the moon rabbit provided. Though she did not recall falling asleep, it must have happened. A full stomach and a good, safe warren would do that to anybody, especially one as elderly as her. There’s going to be a meeting tonight- I’m going so everybody has something sweet to snack on while they’re there.” Giving a wide, buck-toothed grin. But if you’re hungry now, I have just the thing.”"Oh, how sweet of you, dearie!" Morag snuffled at the mochi presented to her. It smelled of fresh grass and flowers: no heather but it was currently not in season. She scoffed it with great enthusiasm, making delighted snuffling sounds. When the haggis had finished, she licked her lips and beamed brightly at Mochi, her eyes glistening. "That was wonderful as always! You are quite a skilled cook! Nobody on Naelus can make them like you do, oh yes! Perhaps the only thing tastier than that is a nice juicy earthworm that has just eaten at the roots of heather bush, but even that has a very different texture and taste. Oh, but don't think I am just with you because of your delicious sweeties, oh no, dearie. You are a very sweet, polite, kind moon rabbit and I am grateful for your company and for letting me nest in your warm, cozy warren for the night." Morag paused, thinking. "Oh but I shouldn't keep you waiting, and this meeting sounds so terribly important, oh yes. Perhaps we ought to be getting along." The haggis scurried forward as quickly as she could, trying to keep pace with the moon rabbit, but she was far too small and her joints creaked too much. In a single bound, Mochi could clear far more distance than she could. "Although with my aching joints and short feet, I don't think I will be able to keep up with you, Mochi, dear. Perhaps you should go on ahead of me? I will make it there by myself." *** Svar had just barely gotten over his initial shock when more creatures joined them. These ones did not seem human-like so at least he avoided giving himself a heart attakc. Instead, he shrunk down, hoping to avoid the rhesus macaque as he waved. However, his luck was not to hold. The bird that was with him, René, landed -oh no, she landed right on the same branch as he was, why? The initial surge of paranoia died down and Svar took a peek sideways at the macaw. Though she seemed far more outgoing, his rational thoughts- what little remained amidst the anxiety and fear that a lifetime of being a living quest goal had instilled in him- told him there was nothing to fear. Indeed, her kind too was favoured by humans for their beautiful plumage, although he doubted their plumes caused the misfortune his did. In that respect, they had something in common. Nevertheless, he did not raise his voice further than a mumble. "I'm...the embodiment of the fire of heavens. It burns within me and my plumes reflect that," he glanced sideways at René. "Your feathers are nice too. We are both the same colours, except I have no green. You look like the a rainbow," his eyes go sad and he clicks his beak, briefly remembering. He suddenly shook his head and squawked, silently cursing himself for the few seconds of musing he was doing. Musing meant somebody could easily sneak up on him, and longing was what got him into trouble so many times before. Svar looked down at Kopi as the cunicanine spoke. He dipped his head a little. "If we are all going, perhaps it is best we travel in numbers? With so much going on, it would be safest if we stick together, and all of you seem trustworthy...I think," he cast another judging eye around the gathered animals. "If I see anything funny from any of you, I am leaving," the firebird suddenly looked down at Kopi. Tash would probably protect him, but if things got bad, he could probably take Kopi, or at least burn a path for him to escape. Morag listens to Mochi( Shinko) and is so grateful for their delicious treats. She rambles a bit, as old people are prone to do, and then agrees to go to the meeting, though with her tiny legs and old bones, she will not be able to keep up with a moon rabbit. Will you give her a lift, Mochi? =( Svar, meanwhile, is less freaked out by the arrival of Algernon and René( Thundy). In fact, he feels for René as parrots are also very much admired by humans for their plumage. He answers her and has a brief moment of reminiscence before shaking himself out of it because that's really dangerous to lose concentration like that! He proposes that they all ( Kozma, Rabbit ♠) go to the meeting together, warning them that if anybody is shifty, he will get out of there. Though he does plan to help Kopi escape, aww.
