Jayeee omg your character pic IS ORANGE I refuse to believe that's a coincidence. "When the sowers send their people here, they're not sending their best, OK?" etc etc.

"When the sowers send their people here, they're not sending their best, OK?" etc etc. Gonna head this one off at the pass, please and thank you. I've actually asked Jay privately not to make more Trump jokes because it's such a sensitive and potentially polarizing topic, so I'd like to politely ask that everybody else also refrain, or if you must take it to the appropriate thread in banter.

STUPID GOSSIP COELOPHYSIS TOOK TOO LONG TO ART I will probably do a better one later but this should give a rough idea of their body shape and color.

RielCZ Thank you for making me laugh XDD "non-dragon-horse-horse-with-a-pole-out-of-its-head" might be the best character description I've gotten, and I almost want to edit my character profile post to put that in for 'basic appearance description' instead. XD

So I have a new NPC to introduce. They... are extremely difficult to explain, describe, or name in any way whatsoever. If I had to pick a descriptor that would be agreed upon by all parties it would be "snake". But without further ado, have a profile (of sorts): Rei's new NPC: Muuri's perceptionSo the Spirit of the land is a Spirit. That's easy enough to understand. But sometimes the Spirit takes a physical form. This is especially the case when they have an important role to perform. And one of the forms that the Spirit often takes is that of a large Rainbow Serpent. This Serpent appears at watering holes in times of need and provides for the land by bringing water from underground springs, or by rain.
Another related form that the Spirit can take is that of a rainbow in the sky. Muuri regards both snake and rainbow as sacred and reveres both. Although she acknowledges that the Spirit cannot be bound by a name, she finds it useful to use the handle "Gali" to refer to the serpent manifestation. Gali means rain or water in Gamilaraay language. She may also refer to the Spirit in snake form or rainbow form as Wandabaa, which is simply the Gamilaraay word for Spirit. Muuri feels it is somehow different and almost more reverent to say it in the traditional tongue.
The Spirit, when in the form of the Rainbow Serpent, may on occasion choose to speak in the common tongue or in Gamilaraay. Muuri would not presume to answer back, or to try and speak to the Spirit in any form, but would bow her head and listen respectfully to any message intended for her. Yira's perceptionYira follows his mother's lead in using the name "Gali" to refer to this snake creature, though he also acknowledges that it's not their actual name. He doesn't know what their real name is and he doesn't ask. Yira considers Gali to be somewhat of a cross between a friend, a guardian, and a mentor. While his mother would not presume to talk to Gali, Yira frequently converses with them.
Yira sometimes refers to Gali as either mother or father, as he identifies them with the role of both his mother, and the father that he never knew.
Yira is not afraid of Gali, as he knows they would never strike him. Also Yira would never dream of attacking Gali either, despite that he is technically a predator (or at least, will grow up to be one). He regards Gali too much as family to even stop and consider that they're actually another species.
Yira, being a very clue-y little one, has successfully mastered the notion of object permanance so he believes that even when he can't see Gali, they still exist, they're just out of sight. On that point he would disagree with his mother, but perhaps it's never come up in conversation. Reiqua's perceptionThere was once a species of snake in prehistoric Australia, called wonambi. It grew up to 5 or 6 metres long, frequented waterholes and seemed in many respects similar to an anaconda. It is probably this animal that the "Rainbow Serpent" of mythology, and of Muuri's belief system is based upon.
It would appear that this 'Gali*' could best be considered a wonambi, but not in the normal sense of the term. Gali's markings are not like that of the historical wonambi but are in fact rainbow, starting with a red band at the neck and finishing with purple at the tail with a band of black between each block of colour. This is unlike either the wonambi of history or the Rainbow Serpent of legend, as the Rainbow Serpent's bands of colour would have run lengthways.
Based on markings alone, then, it is easy to conclude that Gali is not a wonambi, or rather, not merely a wonambi. Further confirmation of this is that Gali does not seem quite mortal. They seem to have lived for time immemorial although it is hard to confirm this, as they never give any account of their own history to the animals that they do talk to. But there are accounts from many generations of animals on the island of an enormous rainbow serpent. At any rate, there seems to be only one 'Gali'/?wonambi on all of Naelus at any given time.
Gali, seems to be somewhat of a spirit or snake or both at various times. And I cannot contradict Muuri's theory that Gali's presence in times of need is correlated to the advent of rain. Whether it is causative, though, is really beyond me to comment on.
* For simplicity's sake I shall follow Muuri and Yira's tradition of using the name Gali, although it is most certainly not their name. I believe that if they do indeed have a name it must be not only unknown but also unknowable. "Gali"'s perception of themself? ? ? Overall the only things that seem to be universally agreed upon about this character is that they use they/them pronouns, their name is not Gali, and they are a form of snake.

Okay, going to ask this here officially: it was brought to my attention that a lot of folks in the US are busy this weekend because of Father's Day. I don't want folks to feel pressured to make rushed posts, nor do I want you to feel like you have to pick between the game and your family. So I'm offering the potential for a one day extension on this round.
However- keep in mind this is an extension being granted on the understanding that you guys need the extra time for the roleplay because of the holiday. When considering the extension, keep in mind your schedules for the upcoming workweek and other commitments you may have, and if the extra day will benefit your overarching story for this round.
Also, if this round does extend, the round to follow will be a day shorter to compensate, so we don't end up with the game lasting too long.
So cast your votes below- extension or no?

Erggh I honestly don't know. I would love to post again this round, but I don't know where the next round will begin, and where I am now isn't necessarily a bad point...hmmm...
I'll just vote no, cos it won't affect me to a huge degree either way.

Well I’ve had some trouble posting initially due to a busy weekend, but I don’t anticipate needing an extension. I think there’s still enough time for me this round and I am likely to be somewhat hampered in my ability to post due to busy work week so my vote would probably be for no extension? Not that it matters much since I’m not even one of the ones affected by US Father’s Day

I personally will vote for extension, just because I could probably use it, but it won't be sink or swim for me if the overall vote is no.

It's not just US father's day- it's in the UK too! Sooooo confusing when I'm living here and need to remind myself NZ father's day isn't for months...

I would have to vote no on the extension, I personally don't need it. However, if others need it, that's fine with me.

Alright, based on the feedback I've gotten this afternoon, it doesn't seem like extension is in terribly high demand. That said, the deadline remains as originally announced- 5:00 PM EST, Monday June 18th.
