Oh no this will be...so, so heartbreaking. xD 'They don't know they're corrupted'- sob! Unless you just mean they don't know oocly.
In any case, it's still pretty sad that nice critters are being corrupted by a nasty smoggy influence!

Most of the ones people think of will be bigger than the horse standard, but will there be dinosaur background NPCsI'm considering playing a Dilophosaurus (non-poison-spitting variety) or maybe Deinonychus so

Oh, so is it okay for NPCs to be larger creatures? =D Cos I kinda wanted to base my background taniwha (literally background- hanging out in ze ocean talking to PC only at high tide) on a taniwhasaurus (a mosasaur genus), because that's a funny thing to do and also I love prehistoric lizardcritters of all kinds. But those are quite big, and would look really weird scaled down to be horse sized.
EDIT: Also Tiger, I had to look that one up but I love the look for deinonychus! <3

XD The size limit is primarily because it'll be hard enough justifying say, a squirrel killing a smilodon. If the RNG has a squirrel murdering a t-rex, it's be nigh impossible to wrestle without some serious contrivances. XD

SUPER SQUIRREL IS HERE TO SAVE...um, I mean ruin...THE DAY.
On the other hand, a T-Rex just straight-up stomping on a squirrel would be kinda amusing. =P
(anyway, thanks for the feedback! <3 I have designs and names for both characters and it is still months to go, if at all, but I need to do some extra research and stuff so at least I have extra time for that.)

I'm lowkey counting on you guys being more creative and original than me, so that hopefully no one wants to play the same generic creature I want >_>; So far so good 8D

Aww, no such thing! I'm sure your creature will be amazing too! And would double-ups be so bad? You could do some cool collabing cos of that!

Aww, no such thing! I'm sure your creature will be amazing too! And would double-ups be so bad? You could do some cool collabing cos of that! Thank you for your encouragement, Thorn! <3 I think what I said came out a little wrong, though. ^^; My post wasn't meant to be self deprecating at all. I just meant the creature I want to be is very common and well known. I kind of wanted to keep it under wraps for the time being in case I changed my mind, but I'm thinking of playing a unicorn, which I think is one of those quintessential creatures that automatically pop into people's heads when someone says "mythological creature". At the very least, I don't think anyone needs to Google what a unicorn is! XD I mean, I don't think there's anything wrong with choosing to play as a popular creature! I wouldn't call anyone uncreative or unoriginal for doing so. But from past experience, I feel like most forumers tend to think a bit more outside the box that than, so that's what I was referring to in my post. XD; And personally, I would prefer if no one else was the same kind of creature I'm planning on being, unless we planned something together beforehand. (Like being relatives or friends or something!) This is partly because I tend not to develop my characters very deeply or make them very complex, so I sort of count on basic things like "Is a Unicorn" as attributes to set my character apart. XD;; Personally, I wouldn't be super thrilled to play the part of "Unicorn 2" ^^;; but maybe that's just me... There may be nothing wrong with double-ups, but I don't think there's anything wrong with hoping your character is unique either. If someone else wants to be a unicorn, that's completely fine, but I would probably choose something else then, because that's my prerogative.

Ah, gotcha. I also tend to worry about other people having the same idea and doing it better than me during these roleplays, to be honest. xD But you're a wonderful shiny person, and I'm sure you could do some wonderful shiny creative things with a unicorn!
And a pair of unicorn friends/family members/even rivals would be really fun to read, and hopefully to write, too. =D If you did end up collabing with someone beforehand!
EDIT: Also yeah, of course it's not wrong to hope your character's unique! I didn't mean to imply it was, sorry bout zat.

Lizica In my head I'm imagining them acting largely as wild animals would, but that doesn't preclude there being a very loosely human-like society if ya'll want! In the wild monkies will trade fruit for ah... services, so I'm willing to stretch the point if you guys think it'll be more fun! They won't construct buildings or the like, any society they did have would be neolithic at best, but I'll let the individuals decide to what degree your characters act like a wild animal would and to what degree they take advantage of the "no wanton murder" decree to try for a more civilized approach~ The corrupted characters won't know they're corrupted at first, but once they've murdered someone they'll be outed as corrupt. Otherwise it'd be a bit lopsided in favor of the sowers since every other turn they get +1 corruption and +1 resident death, while the residents only get one mob execution per that time. Maaaaaaaybe. =3 It's not quite a dinosaur, but I definitely have plans for a Kaprosuchus to make a few appearances as a minor background character.Where is your god now? Cool, that makes a lot of sense! Thanks for answering. =3 I'd probably roll with whatever everyone decided felt most natural, and that sounds like a good starting place. Also your and Tiger's potential dino and dino-like critters sound great already. xD

Hey guys! Just giving this thread a quick bump since I need at least one more person to successfully run the game, and preferably a few more interested parties in case something happens between now and Go Time and somebody who's expressed interest has to bow out!
=) If nobody else is interested that's fine, I can just shelve the idea for now, but figured I'd give it one more signal boost on the chance folks have just been watching without piping up.

Alrighty, update! I have sixteen people who've expressed interest now, which is enough to run the game! There will be room come signups for as many as twenty though, so if you're interested and waffling about it pending dates/what's going on in your own lives/etc, don't count yourselves out!
Speaking of dates, I'm going to set a tentative start date on the game for Friday, June 8. I'll leave off releasing any further information on the game until May, so as not to distract from Thorn's Spirit Days, but if anybody has any questions or wants to discuss in the meantime, feel free to ping me on this thread, shoot me a PM, or poke me on discord. ^^

"My gran used to tell me stories when I was just a joey. Stories she'd heard from her gran, who'd heard them from hers. Stories about the Old Home. Like Naelus, the Old Home was also an island. A little bit bigger of an island, but still an island. It had wide, dry heath grasslands in places, and in others it was densely forested. It was a good place for us. Our stripes kept us hidden from prey and predator alike, and there was lots of prey. But then, things Changed. The old island Changed. And it wasn't good for thylacines anymore.
"The Spirit brought us here instead- don't ask me how, I don't know, and neither does anybody I ask. But the how doesn't so much matter. She saved my ancestors, the grandparents of my grandparents of their grandparents. The last of the thylacines. She brought us to Naelus, a new island, and promised that it would be a good place for us forever.
"She was wrong.
"I don't know how, or why, but Naelus is Changing too. It has become bad, not just for thylacines but for everybody. We gotta do something to stop the Change, before it's too late."-Beech of the Coastal Thylacine Family The countdown has begun...
