Hey guys! So from 2008-2015, this neat little event called 'Spirit Weeks' was held almost every year. I really loved this event, so decided to check if forumers are interested in having one again this year.
Spirit Weeks is, I have since discovered, a lot like the similarly-named event which takes place in many schools. Except instead of dressing ourselves up (somewhat difficult in an online setting!), we dress up our profiles in accordance with a different theme every 3-4 days. Some people get really into it and do lots of posts about their chosen 'costume' (or in-character if the theme is, for example, TV related), others just like dressing up their profile for a single post- there's no right or wrong way to do Spirit Weeks! You can dress up for as many or as few themes as you'd like.
There's also a photo booth thread where people can post screenshots of their fancy-schmancy dressed-up profiles, for posterity. It's a really good way of fostering, as the name suggests, a nice community spirit!
I was thinking of running the event in late March-early April, but I'm not sure when the Medieval reading party will be wrapping up, and in any case am flexible on the exact date if certain times don't suit particular people. If you'd like to participate but won't be able to if the event takes place at a certain time, just say so in this thread. I'll do my best to accommodate everyone!
For those of you who joined us after 2015, here's a link to the event from that year, which in turn links back to all previous Spirit Weeks events: ntwriters.proboards.com/thread/51861/spirit-weeks-2015
I think that's about it. I've added a poll to more easily keep track of interest, but as previously mentioned you should feel free to give me more details in this thread, if your participation would depend on the timing etc. If there's enough interest, I'll open nominations for event categories in a couple of weeks- I'll update this thread regarding that when I've got it down to a specific date. =)
