Really sucks for that poor girl D: I'm glad it got resolved. I think company heads look at pregnancy like "oh, yeah, now she gets to take like three weeks off and back up all the work so she can have a kid" and that sort of mentality is just astounding. Three weeks is a paltry amount of time to take off because you birthed a child; I dare say you need -at least- a few months to fully recover from the physical act of childbirth, and the actual baby can't even be left alone for several years. And this is not even touching on paternal leave, which I think should also be commonplace, because a newborn ideally requires more than one parent watching it because that sort of work is exhausting, especially for a recovering mother. Even in an ideal world where we can take that time off to rear a child to a proper age where we don't have to constantly watch over them, by that time, you'll be fired and all your job prospects are gone. So what are those companies going to do instead, prohibit any woman from becoming pregnant? You best darn tell your men the same thing, too. And I'm sure lots of people will be up in arms about a company who makes it a workplace policy not to have kids.
Think it says something about how society's employment standards are as well. But I suppose that's what happens when you're competing in a world with 8 billion people.
