I can't imagine them buying an international/outside of China company and then converting it to meet Chinese standards. Now not to freak anybody out, but this happened when Livejournal got bought out by a Russian company. The whole T&C was brought in line with their strict censorship laws, and people were scrambling to get their old stuff backed up (because LGBTQIA+ pride blinkies and bad smutty fanfiction are huge public threats if you're a Russian politician, apparently.) Granted, LJ ended up actually centered in Moscow whereas Neopets is still centered in the US, so I wouldn't want to assume that's what's about to happen here, I'm just saying it's dimly within the realm of possibility. Since NetDragon has both a US and Chinese office, most likely we won't have to worry about changes being made to the English site (and it's my understanding that the Chinese site already had things like gambling-themed games blocked.) We're also ignoring another possibility: if Neo wasn't even on their radar when they bought Jumpstart, they might sell it off to some other party. Just all kinds of unknowns here.

About Neopets not being on their radar and this being mostly a Dreamworks IP gambit, for some reason NetDragon saw fit to mention the accomplishments of Neopets in their press release, when JumpStart didn't. So it's like, they took notice of Neopets, and I feel like if JumpStart was focused on this being primarily a Dreamworks/"not Neopets" deal and NetDragon was focused on this being primarily a Dreamworks/"not Neopets" deal, they both would've stuck to the Dreamworks talking points.
But Senpai has, if only briefly, taken notice of us.

Just a "Hi-ho, we're the neopets user base, there's still a bunch of us and people are really nostalgic for Neopets, looking forward to seeing what you do with the site, would you like to make a statement for the fansites" kind of a thing?

Hopefully this will improve things. Jumpstart's been pretty incompetent on their own, so maybe with someone supervising them they'll put some effort. Keep the people like Scrappy, and bring in new people who want to make something good.
Them mentioning Neo instead of shilling Dreamworks? Promising sign, folks.
