New Summer Cleaning list! (with a couple spring carryovers) Clean Room
-Type: Physical/Organization
-Difficulty: Hard
-Length: Kinda Long
-Description: I started to clean my room, but never got past the "pull everything out and reorganize it" stage. So, now with stuff being all over the floor for about a month now, it'd probably be good to find someplace better for it all.
-Progress: Nothing yet, still a mess
Movie Catchup
-Type: Movie Watching
-Difficulty: Easy
-Length: Ongoing
-Description: There are a number of movies that I've been meaning to see, but have never gotten around to, so now should be as good a time as ever to get started on that. Seeing as the list of "want to see's" is rather long, I'm limiting myself to just the animated stuff right now, mostly Disney, to have a clearer goal. Some movies have already been checked off, but there's still plenty.
-Progress:
(have yet to see)
Snow White
Peter Pan
Aristocats
Jungle Book
Aladdin
Pocahontas
Hercules
(finally saw)
Pinocchio
Cinderella
Sleeping Beauty
Little Mermaid
Wrighton Posts
-Type: Writing
-Difficulty: Medium
-Length: However long the GM's wish x)
-Description: Just a reminder to myself to stay on top of posting and participating in the Wrighton RP! Since I'm at work most days, it's easy for me to fall behind, but I don't want to get too behind else I may never catch up xP
Blossoms Script
-Type: Writing
-Difficulty: Medium
-Length: Short-term
-Description: Taking this slow and just aiming to wrap up the next series' script.
-Probably about halfway through. Some parts are mostly written out, others partially or just mapped out without dialogue.
Greenless Rainbow
-Type: Art/Writing
-Difficulty: Not too bad... for now
-Length: Ongoing
-Description: Keep playing around with and pitching ideas for original comic in order to find a foothold with its plot and characters.
-Progress: Main characters developing well, too bad I have basically no plot for this thing
Calendar
-Type: Art
-Difficulty: Hard
-Length: Long
-Description: I'm designing a personal calendar featuring a character of mine for each month; hopefully I can get it done for next year!
-Progress: July and September are finished. October, November, May, and March are currently in progress.
Art Check List
-Wrighton stuff

Summer Cleaning list; much shorter than the Spring Cleaning one because I want to try a different tactic this time. 1. Reorganize, remove, and consolidate Type: Misc Difficulty: Medium Length: Medium Subject: Reorganization Steps: Find out what I need for my move, leave out or donate what I don't need, and consolidate things together to make the move easier Progress: Goal has changed. Move has been made, so now it's a matter of putting everything away so my new place looks sightly, and then afterwards finding things to remove or consolidate when I have time.
2. Learn Python Type: Programming Difficulty: Hard Length: Perpetual Subject: Computer programming Steps: Set up a routine for practice. Find projects to do. Progress: (Have barely started. Need to learn more prior to the start of school.)
3. Read borrowed book Type: Reading Difficulty: Medium Subject: Reading Steps: Read the book or at least parts of it; sooner is better. Don't need a thorough read-through, just enough to get the idea. Progress: Read a few places
4. Read more books Type: Reading Difficulty: Easy-medium Subject: Reading Notes: There's a few; read at least one this summer besides the borrowed book if you have time. Progress: None
5. Various fics Type: Writing Difficulty: Varies Subject: Writing
5a. Clue character backstory Subject: Character: Rochelle LeMarque. How did she get to know Woo? How did she get an invitation to his party? How did she get such a huge crush on him? All this and more when it's done! Progress: Generally outlined in my head. A good chunk is written. At a difficult scene that involves a lot of talking. Also need to build up things just right.
5b. The Town fic Subject: My The Town OC and her boss in life Steps: Sort out characterization traits for her boss, outline, decide the POV, write Progress: (I have a vague outline in my head, but need to pin down more details.)
5c. Other works. Notes: Don't wanna add too much. May add more later if I feel like writing different. For not, progress can be noted here. Progress: None
6. Moving (and everything related) Subject: Adulting Steps: (It's too long to list; I'm going to keep it consolidated on a separate file on my computer.) What I mostly need to do right now is figure out a good estimate for how many boxes I can fit in my car, and how much more I can fit in besides the essentials. Progress: DONE!

Reiqua has many things to do including writing, organisation and kitchen projects but at the moment this list shall be dedicated solely to sewing projects because that's what I'm not doing any of and want to get back to. In tentative order: 1/ Sew Jimmy* overalls *Jimmy is not his real name Notes: This is for my best friend's son and this project will hopefully be for his first birthday Time needed: lots and lots, get moving Rei Progress: Complete! Though I may yet go back and make some adjustments like velcro to affix one of the badges, and lengthening the legs
2/ Finish pyjama pants Notes: Seriously Rei, at this rate winter will be over before you're done Time needed: about half an hour Progress: Overlocking done, woot! Just needs hems, a casing for the elastic and the elastic threaded through
3/ Mend work skirt Notes: a stitch in time would've saved nine but maybe nine stitches in time can save 99? Time needed: 10mins max Progress: zip nada nil
4/ SES Dress Notes: a fun project - I'm in the emergency services at my town, we help people out with storm damage, floods, road crashes... pretty much everything but fires Anyway we have a gazillion different pieces of uniform for different applications but not a dress. So I'm taking some old uniforms and using the fabric to make up a dress (without the official badges of course) which is great fun. Time needed: Lots and lots Progress: Bodice constructed. Still needs sleeves put on. Then belt panel. Skirt needs designing a little more and I've got some pieces of that skirt yet to cut. Finishing touches include breast pockets, back pocket, side pockets and belt loops.
5/ Mend Matt's jeans *also not his real name Notes: Matt is my best friend and father of Jimmy, but he's got a good bit of weight to loose before he can even fit into those jeans again so I'm not exactly too stressed about getting them done any time soon Time needed: maybe half an hour Progress: one pair - patch cut and pinned, just needs stitching down other pair - no progress yet
6/ Gypsy skirt Notes: be awesome to have it this winter but... we'll see Time needed: About 3-4 hours Progress: None yet
7/ Francesco the puppet Notes: big floofy pink, black speckled birb/dinosaur monster puppet whose name will likely not end up being Francesco after all but we'll see what I feel after I've made him Time needed: ample Progress: head is cut out and partially assembled, head foam also cut, I think the next thing I need would be mouth plates and black velvet and red felt and lining fabric to make the mouth sandwich... Then arms/wings and neck and all the rest of it
8/ Muffin hand (and finish lining) Notes: Muffin is a pink and orange fluffy Cookie Monster type puppet who just needs a hand to be finished Time needed: 2-3 hours Progress: Well I've got her head and... I've at least got a pattern for her hand, don't think I've cut it out yet...
9/ - 39/ Notes: just an acknowledgment that I have at least 30 other projects sitting in my sewing room that I fully intend to get around to some day but I won't itemise everything just now cos I'd like to keep it a bit manageable Time needed: several lifetimes Progress: various degrees of progress, depends on which project you pull out... they all have a plan in my head though! (or else they wouldn't be a project) so that's a start right!?

Post by Thorn on Jul 19, 2017 17:57:54 GMT -5
I will make a list! Because I'm doing a whole lot of 'nothing' right now and, even though I wasn't very good keeping up with Spring Cleaning, hope to do better with this. xD Even if it's slow going, slow progress is better than no progress at all. Level One: Quick Easy Things which get you Quick Easy EXP1. Cut hair. => Because otherwise I will have to work out how to do a donut bun for work soon, and I don't want to do that, that will mean effort. >.>
PROGRESS: Complete! It could still do with being a little shorter at the back, but it works well for the time being.
2. Write for next Microfic Prompt. => The microfic magazine I got published in obviously thinks I'm not-rubbish, so I should keep an eye out and write something the next time a prompt goes up.
PROGRESS: New prompt! "Trees." Submissions are due by August 31. I'll need to write a new contributor's bio as well, since my old one is now thoroughly outdated.
I've done a few little drafty things, no finished product just yet. Level Two: More EXP but also more work, gargh1. Look out for more competitions, submit "The Sea is Dark." => I've been clinging on to this short story for ages, refining it after the first time I got rejected, and I think it could be ready now. Might as well try!
PROGRESS: Had somebody new look it over and suggest some changes, did another round of editing, submitted it to one magazine. If they reject it, it will be submitted to another at the end of next month. Level Three: Those ones which frustrate you enough that you stop playing the game for ages1. Secret Audio Project => I don't know if I'll ever get this done. I would feel very self-conscious recording voicestuff in a houseshare. But it would be cool, so we'll see!
PROGRESS: Well I have a document for it on my computer, that's something.
2. Finish Sun Story => I know how it's meant to go, there are just gaps I've been too lazy to fill in.
PROGRESS: As with the story below, I'm definitely going to have trouble with the ending.
3. Finish drafting Knight Story
PROGRESS: Okay so this was an idea I had one afternoon in late July, and wrote the thing in an hour or two. Thing is, I never quite worked out how to end it. So. Writing it a proper ending is my biggest issue right now.
4. Finish drafting Vampire Story => I sort of got distracted from this one when Knight Story came along. With this, the issue isn't so much the ending (which I know, for once), but the content in the middle. Because the interaction between the two leads and the kid they accidentally sort of adopt is important, dangit, but so is the plot!
PROGRESS: Started two drafts of it in July. One of the leads is a character I created years ago but never managed to do much with. The other gave me surprise angsty backstory which is only alluded to and which you therefore have to work to figure out- the best kind! Boss FightThat WIP novel. No way will I finish it this summer, but hopefully the conference I'm going to will give me inspiration to keep going.
PROGRESS: Have set myself a 1000 word daily target, characters are behaving better now. I was having trouble with the beginning so just started writing from the first part I'm actually sure of- I'll go back and write the opening later.

Summer Cleaning List: 1. Art Doll Project Type: Craft Difficulty: Very Hard Length: It's gonna take a while. Progress: Wireframe is made! Polymer clay pieces are sculpted and attached! Tasks: Acquire some fur to use for the body. Paint clay pieces. Secure fur body. Stuff. Note: This will be my very first posable art doll. I've done a little sculpting, plush-making (far in the past) and painting before, but I'm a total newb at all of those crafts. I don't expect this doll to turn out super amazerizing, of course, but if it turns out looking even mediocre, It'll be a success. :D Wish me luck!
Yep, I just have one big project this time.
