”Because they won't understand you anymore and you won't understand them. Now go invite some guests who don't speak your language.”

The walls grow silent for some time, and you feel a change within yourself... As well as an urge to seek out plant matter.

”That is to say, you can travel with it. Touch a plant, and you'll transport to another plant of your choosing, sort of like teleporting. Although it's more limited than when it's at full power; you can only transport to another plant within a certain range. I'd just go with ones within your line of sight.”

"You make not clarifying enough an art form. But human, go out and spread your art, flex your vocal muscles, sing along to every single song you wanted to sing at any possible range. I'd get going, it only lasts until midnight."

"What would be nice... Is if you could sing along to the picture you gave me... If you wanted to... Give the two in the picture the appropriate music..."

"Okay, now you have to tell me what's on it."

A rictus grin split the girl's face. "Oh my gosh, I've got to try this out!" Bending her knees, she launched herself into the air — and stayed there, feet not touching the ground. She drifted in between the two walls, bowing first to one wall and then the other. "Thank you very much for your gift! I'll be sure to keep your warning in mind."

As she floated off, she could be heard humming,

"I believe I can fly
"I believe I can touch the sky...

"Nah, wrong tune.

"I'm flying without wings~"

A short, stout mass of fluffy pink maleficence stands at the entrance of the garden. She follows the exchange of the two walls like a toad eyeing a juicy fly.

"Tut tut!" she tuts in a sinister fashion, before turning a new sheet on her clipboard and beginning to scribble furiously.

After several minutes, she walks down the path to the Trailing Wall, her pink shoes clicking on the paving stones.

"You will receive the results of your inspection in ten days' time," she tells the wall. "It is also my duty to inform you that the Spirit Division of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures will be informed of your squatting and begging, and will likely be in touch with you."

She waves a slip of pink parchment at the wall in the same way she would wave it in a person's face, then deposits the slip in the bowl below.

After a moment's thought, she wrinkles her nose, withdraws a perfume bottle from her handbag and sprays a little around the wall. She inhales again with a smile like a contented toad's after a meal.

[The Scrac that Smiles Back]

The robot dressed in a pink Thor costume looked between the walls. It concluded there were probably humans hiding nearby, and that this was an excellent prank in keeping with the theme of Halloween. It should leave them something. It looked into its bag of goodies and pulled out a plastic spider ring. This it placed in the Trailing Wall's bowl. It then approached the Straightforward Wall and left a small container of candy tarts.

Liou - The walls consider the 'gift' but spend more of their time being baffled by the stout person's presence.

"How... cute..." The Trailing Wall comment. "To see her act as if she's above us... When in the blink of an eye, we could ensure she's... taken care of..."[/i]

"I've got news for you; we won't be here in 10 days. Unless you can transport over to the Spirit World, but I think you'll be rather... disappointed by our structure."

"She sprayed something... I can't tell what, but... I don't think it's a gift..."

"Nah, something for the humans. I think it's a gas. Perhaps it's a good thing we chose something that doesn't have noses."

"Yes, for the best... But she did leave something. Some sort of... paper... I could probably... re-use this for something..."

"So we gift her after all?"

"Yes... And if her arrogance goes further, we can also be further... entertained..."

"Right. Just give it to her, then."

There's silence, and you feel a change within you.

"There. I thought you were a bit too... rigid. So I decided to help you with that. Try bending your body, stretching it out. You might find you can go... even further... And put yoga masters to shame..."

"Does this include their tongue?"

"Oh, of course! I'd never forget that... Now you can lick your elbow... Or perhaps use your tongue for other things... Up to you, really. Now, don't worry about the inspection, for we will put your notice to... good use..."

The Scrac that Smiles Back - The walls consider your offer.

"Ah, is this... one of those multi-legged creatures...? ...There are many of those in the spirit world, and many in the mortal world, and yet some mortals seem to be so afraid of them... Even if this one isn't alive... Perhaps this could be used... to my advantage..."

"And meanwhile, I got more candy. Always good; always good. So, what do you think we should give them?"

"Something... appropriate to the gift... Like this..."

There is silence, and you feel a change within you.

"I noticed the gift you gave me was similar to what you call spiders, albeit not alive... They are very useful creatures with... useful skills..."

"Like weaving webs. You should see some of our webs in the spirit world. They're always a nice sight."

"And now, you can weave webs of our own... Though not in the same way a spider would..."

"No, they don't have quite the... capabilities for that."

"But you can summon them from you, and create what you will with them.. You could have your hand at your own web, or perhaps you would like to weave something else...? It is up to you..."

"So go have some fujn with them!"

Time passes, and the bowl set in front of each of the walls fill up with candies and goods. The spirits appear to be satisifed.

"We've gained so much... There is so much we can do... To use this..."

"Right. This really has been fruitful."

"I am a little disappointed, though, that no one tried to be... sneaky..."

"Why do you say that? Neither of us like thieves; they rob us of, as you say it, 'potential'."

"It's just... I feel like it would be fun to... reprimand someone..."

"Ah, you wanted to hex someone."

"Just for fun... Not a serious one..."

"Well, look at it this way. No thieves means we have even more to enchant."

"Yes, that is true... Just a thought..."

In the distance, they began to hear the chiming of bells.

"It must be time then, isn't it...?"

"Yes, I'm afraid so. But you've all done well, mortals. I hope you enjoyed your time with your gifts, for it should be wearing off now. We have to go now, and your gifts will travel with us."

"Yes. We will put them to... good use... Thank you, mortals... For your aid..."

The Trailing Wall trails off further as the distance clock chimes twelve, and their sounds fade into nothingness. An aura in the area seems to shift and change, until suddenly, everything seems ordinary again, with the exception of the bowls and all their contents disappearing into nothingness. No amount of prompting results in anything. The walls are quiet, standing as solid as silent, as if any strangeness was never there.
