Yup, it's that time of year again! Time to churn your writing gears and set to work! The official goal of NaNoWriMo is to write a novel in a month (minimum of 50k words). However, you can also use it to just encourage yourself to write, be it writing as much of a novel as you can, encouraging yourself to get to those short stories, or... anything, really. The point of the event is really to write. Don't know what NaNoWriMo is? The official website has more information here: nanowrimo.org/You can also sign up there so you can have an official counter for your novel. If not, that's fine, so long as you're writing! This thread is where you can chat about anything related to writing your NaNo or anything about NaNo. Have fun!

WHOO, NANO! \ o /
...I should get to outlining. Instead of keeping the story in my head like years before. That way I won't forget things. 8D

So I lost most of the novel I was writing (in class!) last year, but I think I'm ready to try again. I have an older draft saved to my OneDrive (phew!) And...will...try, really try, to win this year. XD;

Mostly Harmless (flufflepuff) Oh dear, that sounds awful D: Losing files for projects is legit one of my worst (practical) fears, so I really sympathize and sincerely hope that losing your novel wasn't too big a hit *hug* That's good about having an older draft, though, so you're not starting completely from scratch again. I'll be sure to root for you this year! Same to you, Birdy; good luck getting that idea down, and I hope you can make good progress on it I'm very interested to see what you write

Well I'm not planning to write a novel, or 'do NaNo' so to speak... but I love the idea of writing a """story""" specifically for the purpose of fulfilling all the crazy-fun dares that people post and seeing how many points I can get! I know people don't typically count points for dares, but I thought it'd be fun!! It'd be even more fun if someone (or ones) who wasn't set on writing a novel could join me in fulfilling dares and actually compete for points! I mean, I'll probably do it anyways, just for lols, but I'd welcome an opponent if there are any takers

Ooh, NaNo. No novels for me, but I certainly have a backlog of unfinished stories (including a couple of Lupe Pack Detectives), so I'll try to complete at least some of them, but it really depends on the time that I have.

The official Nanowrimo forums are now inaccessible to guests... such a shame. I really enjoyed reading them. :<

Reiquaoh yeah, I'm in the same boat as you. x3 I don't really do NaNo because I'm not much of a novel writer--my current project requires research and I'm not really planning on nanoing it because ... eh, it's about a topic I still need to do a tooon of research on. I do, however, have to write a novella for one of my classes this semester, and NaNo is a great way to do that. xD We can dare each other for a side project; I love doing silly/stupid stuff in stories.

I was originally going to take on the actual 50,000 word challenge. Not so sure I will now- kudos to everyone who is brave enough to tackle it, though! However, I will use November to try and get a few short stories done. So Reiqua, I might very well be up for joining you and Moni in this most epical of challenges! =P It would be nice to write some light-hearted things in between Actual Serious Writerings (TM).

I'll probably not be taking part in NaNo this year, at least not formally, but it has been a while since I've done some writing and there is a Medieval fic that I've been wanting to write forever that I need to start on. So I will spent my November trying to make good progress on that. If I make it to 50,000 words, even better. \o/

I'm intrigued by the dares-only challenge. I've never done NaNoWriMo because I am frustratingly slow at writing, so there's just really not a point in trying to push and stress myself into meeting an arbitrary deadline that I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to meet anyway. But I've also always thought the whole community around it was neat.

Another year of cheating for me \ o /
...I have two old novels (the start of NaNos, actually) sitting around, and I've been stuck on them for months because of various worldbuilding/logic issues. I'm going to at least start off trying to fix those problems - hopefully in the form of short stories and snippets? - and eventually, I hope, move on to actually writing more of one of these puppies. Stupid modern fantasy, having to have all the fantasy bits slotted into the real world - and how dare common sense conflict with the plot beats I wanna drop! XDD

*screams because it's less than an hour until NaNo start where she is and she still has no outline*

What's an outline? It's been NaNo time for an hour here and I only have literally 3 character names lol
