Yessss, condescending drawl brought to life \o/
Haha, those were a lot of fun to listen to! Both for hearing how Espin sounds like in your head, and also just reliving some of those moments from HC :3 Poor Espin when he's finally caught, snarky and defiant till the end x3

Gelquie YEEEEE thank you for these, I'm always pumped for post readings! You sounded super in character. <3 It's so good to have a throwback to these scenes and full-on snark from the handyprat.

Finally had a chance to listen to the voice posts! \ o / They were all fun, I really love the dramatic line reads for Nyx and Zenith - and dang, Espin definitely sounds like even more of a jerk with a drawl! Good voice choice!

Thank you for those who commented/liked the voice post! I'm glad people had fun with them and that what I sought to accomplish came across. ^^
And I feel like I commented on others' in Discord, but just in case I didn't, I really enjoyed reading others'. I almost read a Nyx line in that one post to try to see if I could get close to what Thorn accomplished, and only didn't because I was already practicing a lot for Espin. xD Nyx's voice is super in character and Zenith's is so nice to listen to, and super nice to see how those voices affect the pacing of their posts.
-- In Discord chat, there was talk of taking quizzes like the one Azzie posted in the Wrighton OOC chat, and sorting the HC characters too. I took the quiz for Espin, expecting him to mainly get Slytherin... But he actually got primarily Ravenclaw. By a huge margin. Which makes sense; most of his answers were Ravenclaw-esque. But his Slytherin traits are definitely there too.
(He got a few Hufflepuff points too because he answered some family-related things because the fact that he cares for his family is one of his sole redeeming qualities. Butyeah, he kept answering things like "I don't want my friends and family to forget me" and "from the flower that produces smells I long for, I keep smelling Home".)
I generally go for writer headcanon over quiz, and just sometimes use my quiz results to help narrow things down. So I left it to myself to tie-break. (Without considering the other two because Espin is not a Gryffindor or Hufflepuff; he's not.) One of Espin's priorities is to do science and smart stuff and make advancements in the field, and generally prefers conversations or challenges with intellectual equals; Ravenclaw traits. But his ambition is not to be denied, and he's definitely the type to foist himself over others and take any means to get ahead; Slytherin traits, including the bad Slytherin traits.
Ultimately though, I ended up agreeing with the quiz. In part because I really don't like the Evil Slytherin stereotype and how the book keeps labeling them as All Evil with hollow words (with no follow-through) tiny bandage attempts to help it while nearly none of the other houses ever seem to cause trouble, even though Slytherin traits are definitely not the only kind that would go to the evil side and the other houses have traits that can send them down more evil paths as well, and Slytherins can totally be ambitious and want to get ahead without doing or wanting to do evil things and that wasn't nearly represented enough in the books and-- *gagged before I rant too long.*
*Ahem.* And because ultimately, while ambition and doing anything he can to get ahead is an incredibly important aspect to his character, ultimately, he's priding his cunning and knowledge and how far he can go with that, and will also learn for the sake of learning.
And because it gives me a chance to write a villain who's part of a house that isn't Slytherin.
So yeah. While Espin definitely has traits of both and might cause the Sorting Hat to hesitate, I think Ravenclaw takes the lead.

I can't believe I didn't reply earlier- what a failure of an evil colleague! I love Espin's appropriately condescending, contemptuous tone. The perfect evil genius!
I'm glad you like Nyx's voice as well cos it took me, like, twenty tries. xD I think it was Celes who actually suggested an 'evil British queen' type thing. Not sure if that's exactly what you'd call the final product, but it sure came from there.
***
I did the same quiz and got Slytherin for Nyx, with Gryffindor in second place. I'm happy with Slytherin- I know evil Slytherin is a stereotype, but Nyx is a stereotype. xD Plus she is certainly very ambitious, and it would fit her based on that alone.
I'm also happy that Gryffindor is second, because she is pretty brave, even if not in the nicest way. Ravenclaw would have made no sense, and Hufflepuff...eh, I mean, she was loyal to her team, but only cos they had the same goal.
