From their continued talking, one could decipher that 'akt' was a negative statement, or no, and 'ikt' the opposite. It seemed they were referring to Fish as "Ilkt'uu" 

Fish approached cautiously, trying to look non-threatening.

They all looked at him. Puut laughed. Though the laughed sounded more like wheezing and grunting than a normal laugh.
