The octopus... would raise an eyebrow if they had any. "You don't like my cake redecorations?" They take a moment to stare at their cake. "...Well, yeah, I'm not very good at it. You're welcome to try; I had to make due with what I had. Thanks. I like blue and a kind of light green and lavender, of course. ...Dunno how well those would go together, those are just a few I like. Dunno if I have icing for any of those either. ...Anyway, you want a present?" They reach into the back and pull out what appears to be a long black cloak. "Ah, not one of the better presents. Though I guess it contrasts your outfit. I'm afraid all this does is look dark and cool... literally. It makes you look like a vampire while you wear it, fangs and all. Not that it gives you vampire powers. You might be able to make a little bit of darkness around yourself, but that's it. Just a gimmicky thing. Here." They hand it to you. You got the Vampiric Cloak of Pseudo-Vampirism!((Special thanks to Ranumgen for providing me with random colors.)) The lady in the cloak looks worried for a moment. "Oh no," she says in dismay, "I didn't mean to offend you! It's a great cake, but I just thought I might be able to at least help you get off some more of the Halloween themes, since it looked like you were trying to remove them. Those are nice colors you mentioned, though--I bet they'd look gorgeous!" She accepts the gifted cloak with amazement. "Aw hey, that's pretty cool. Thank you!" She gratefully hefts the black cloak and goes over to try her hand at the cake icing.

The octopus seems to be a little happier with all the presents they have. They still have a few Halloween-y type presents left from their 'friends', but after it became clear that no one else was coming, the octopus shrugged, offering the leftovers to anyone who wanted them, and if no one claimed them, said they'd just donate them. “Hey, you've all been really nice," the octopus commented as the cake was finished being re-re-decorated. "So... Tell you what, you can have some cake too. I may not know you well, but you're all better friends than my so-called 'friends'. We'll see if they stay my friends after what they did to me.” They sigh. “I guess I'll yell at them about it later. For now...” They grab the candles and stick them all over the cake before taking a match and lighting up each of them. “You don't have to sing if you don't want to... But I want to.” They do so, and accompanied or not, they soon blow out the candles. Then after taking a slice of cake for themselves, they pass some out to those still around, and check for those just outside in case they want cakes, as a token of their gratitude. They also manage to find ways to get rid of the rest of the presents they have. As the octopus was finishing their cake, the clock chimes for midnight, and they pause. “Well... Guess that's the bell,” they said with a sigh. “Really... Thanks. Even if your gifts were mostly small... At least they're not Halloween-ish. At least you get it. You can have whatever I leave behind, but you'd better get out of the house, cause I gotta go.” The octopus ushers everyone out, and then with a wave, they slip back in. Soon, there's a flash... And then nothing. Even the decorations are gone... Save for more Halloween-y knick-knacks and the very last of the cake. Perhaps as one last parting gift for those who helped them have a happier birthday. Unused gifts: 1. A pumpkin that can glow with a bright light on command 2. Slime... That can be molded into whatever you want and into a semi-solid form 3. A black cat toy... that if you activate will let you see in the dark 4. A... clown hat? ...Oh, but it transforms you into a scary clown for as long as you wear it. 5. A small skeleton that does nothing... Until you provide it a beat or a song; then it tap dances to said song; seriously, give it any song, it has a mind of its own.
The first and second one and sometimes third one I ended up skipping quite often because they felt like mediocre gifts compared to the ones I was actually giving out. The fourth one was standing for a long time, but I never got the opportunity to use it. The 5th one I actually came up with today in case I had more people visit, but I never got to use that either, and I wasn't sure how to pull it off; it would probably be a toy-like thing, but I also was trying not to have gifts that could be mimicked too well by electronic devices.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed!
