So lucky me, I did my dailies and got a Pirate Draik Morphing Potion. After some deliberation weighing up the pros and cons of using it or not, I decided to put it on the Trading Post. Within ten minutes of it being put up I got an offer for what I'd asked, but I decided to do a little digging to check some concerns out before blindly accepting (I'd read JellyNeo's article on the trading post because I haven't traded on there for probably about 3 years or so, so I wanted to refresh my memory about scams and such). Turns out the account was made three days ago and already has amongst others a recently made faerie neopet (in fact, at present, none of their pets are significantly older than the account holder, which makes me concerned).
I'm not going to accept the trade, but I'm wondering- has anyone got any useful tips for utilising the Trading Post?

Was the faerie Neopet an Eyrie by any chance? Because Faerie Eyrie MPs are dirt cheap now. It could be someone starting over on a new account using funds from an old main. I don't blame you for not accepting, though, just explaining some possibilities.
Other than dealing with known users or looking at accounts to check how legit they look, I really don't have any advice. Lurk the gallery & spotlight and customization boards and the TC to get a feel for the active, trusted users.

Uh, actually I made a mistake because I can't tell apart Faerie and Maraquan Hissis at a glance. But that's not the issue at the moment as I since found (and accepted) a trader who after some scouting appeared significantly legit and more lived in as an account.
