I wanna learn. I want to know why. Likely a bunch of businesspeople in a room that already made the decision in the past to dump almost everyone. All they see is numbers and dollar signs but they fail to see the needs of their users. But why in the world would you (as in Jumpstart) go buy Neopets if you yourself don't have the financial means to keep anybody around?

I am sad to see you go.
I also hate to be a pessimist, but I see this as the end of the NT, as they likely see no reason to keep it going without you.

I don't like this. It's like losing a teacher or mentor or something. I was looking forward to sharing comics with all of Neopia, but also with you as well. And now... who knows. Anyway, thank you for all you've done, and best of luck in what new adventures you face.

Gotta be up there as one of the longest serving Editors in the service. If not the longest, I don't know the history. Ten years, was it? You can't beat ten years. I don't know what kind of bat JumpStart thinks they can bring to a game that's better than ten years.
EDIT: Also, did they ask Droplet to send instructions, or did she do it on her own in hopes that someone would read it and hopefully manage the Times well? Because I send suggestions to the staff through tickets all the time, and that doesn't mean they read them.

I just... I can't believe it. We'll all really miss you... I wish you and your family the best of luck Droplet and hope you continue to drop by the forum every now and again. I also hate to be a pessimist, but I see this as the end of the NT, as they likely see no reason to keep it going without you. Even if they do hire another editor I see this as the practical end of NT as we know it; I can't see any new incarnation of the publication living up to its previous standard of quality, at least for a good long while. Also it would probably either be radically different or possess that almost-but-not-quite charm JSN has in mimicking the former TNT style...

Oh my God...I'm honestly crying.
Droplet, thank you so much for all you've done. You've given all of us the courage to keep writing, to keep pursuing a passion. When you published my first NT story, that was one of the happiest moments of my life. That gave me hope that maybe I will be able to fully conquer dyslexia. If I managed to finish writing a full story and get it published in the NT, maybe it is possible. Maybe it is possible to be able to read and write and understand and comprehend words at the level of my peers. The Neopian Times was that motivation I needed to fight it. So thank you for giving me that hope. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me hope that I'm more than this disability.

It wasn't bad when Snowflake moved to Droplet, but that was still people on TNT who cared. Now, I'm not so sure.

You forget, we, the writers make the Times content, not Jumpstaff. The Editor is super important, of course, but without our pieces, they have nothing. So I don't see how the Times could change that much, if does continue. The most I could see is upholding of rules a little differently, but, I don't see how their Jumpstaff charm could infect my comics, for instance.

That's the thing, the last handoff was between insiders that very much took an interest in keeping the Times going. Whomever they hire is now going to come from non-TNT staff.
Honestly it would be a slap in the face if company that sells educational software doesn't care about something so educational as writing and reading the NT.
Yes we produce the content...but Jumpstaff didn't exactly read any submissions while Droplet was on leave. Until I see anything different, I won't trust them to run it. We might have to make our own NT if this doesn't work out.

It's not going to be the same without you, Droplet. You're irreplaceable. We're really going to miss you. Thank you for everything you've done for us.

Can we send this to Jumpstart?
Your plan to get rid of our Neopian Times editor was rejected because there were too many good entries that are still yet to be published.
*sigh* if only we could do that...

I just created an account here just so I could comment on this... I'm devastated at this news...really devastated I was so happy to see the NT back, and to be honest I don't have much hope for it going forward...I loved working on comics with my friends. Thank you Droplet for publishing my work, and I do hope I continue to be able to get my work published, but as I said not much hope... I'm so sorry this has happened droplet

Sad to see you go, Droplet. You've played an important role in many young people's lives. Best wishes with everything in the future. I do hope Jumpstart manages to keep the NT going. But regardless of what happens, the encouragement we've all found on Neo will stay with us. Thank you.

I... don't even know what to say. I mean, it's not totally unexpected (given recent events with most of the other staff) but that doesn't make it any less terrible to do this to a new mom, let alone the one that's made the Times what it is for so long.
Regardless, though, thank you so much for your tireless work (and for TMGE'ing all of those scribbles so us comic'ers could get better, heh), and I hope things get a whole lot better for you soon (even better than it was the past decade, if that's even possible)! (And also much love to Baby Droplet from us as well!)
