“No, you're doing well. There is nothing to be dissatisfied with in your work,” Lucinda reassured him. “I am glad you're happy here. Are you just glad not to have had an arranged marriage, or is it you're happy to be focusing on your job and have no interest in a family? Do you really have no hobbies that you pursue? Your goals don't have to be lofty to have something to chase.” Lu asks Seamus questions.

Seamus shrugged. "I... I would nae mind having a partner, someday," he admitted. "All I meant by the 'arranged marriage' comment was that I dinnae have tae be forced intae a political arrangement. So if I did marry, it'd be because me 'n the other person wanted it." He gave a slightly rueful smile, "But a family... I really can nae see it. I'm okay with kids in small doses, but they'd exhaust me if I was responsible for them all the time." He closed his book, giving a shrug. "As for hobbies, like I said I hunt. Mostly hound coursing, and some trapping. I like tae ride too, though anything bigger'n a pony intimidates me a bit." He grinned sheepishly. "In the mountains it's nae practical tae ride a full sized horse, so I spent my whole life riding only ponies. Being on a horse makes me feel like I'm really high up." He chuckled, adding, "I met your great-uncle at Hector and the Duchess' wedding, 'n he and I discovered kinda a mutual connoisseurship for tea. So I guess that could be considered a hobby? Anyway, it's all fun and keeps me entertained, but I'm nae sure it really applies tae ambitions for the future. Dinnae get me wrong, it's nae like I'm going tae throw up my hands and declare 'I have nae purpose!' like some character in a theatrical drama. Just something that unnerves me a little, is all. Feels like I'm tae young tae be so directionless." Seamus elaborates on the points Lucinda asked about, then tries to dispel the gloominess of the topic somewhat by making a joke about it.
