I'm interested, though 1. it starts around my birthday, 2. I have a job now, and 3. I wasn't expecting merchants/peasants and character trades to be something specifically assigned to players. I'll have to think about scheduling, and how to work my character with this new information...

I'm basically not working out my character fully until roles are assigned. Otherwise it would be a bother to redo them.

I'll have to think about scheduling, and how to work my character with this new information... Keep in mind, the roles are mostly fairly loose. That is to say, you can adapt any sort of character you want into the role. There's no reason you can't have a Thief who is also a magician, or a Trader who's also a healer, or basically anything else: the roles are only as constraining as you make them, when it comes to developing characters. This is especially true since most roles will only be known by the player (and if they have a faction, their faction) at the beginning of the game-- with who has what role being revealed over the course of the game. Therefore, like Mafia, it's not like you need to RP "your role", exactly, so much as keep it in mind for when it is revealed to the player pool at large.

I think Mordor has a nice ring to it. Like majestic, like the kind of place you can't just walk into because it's so... majestic.
Or Narnia. I think that one has been used before, but no one's gonna know where that's from, right?
No, no NO, I'VE GOT IT! HYRULE! It just came to me out of nowhere! Doesn't that sound perfect? 8D
Okay, I'ma shut up and try to suggest things you might actually use. Uh, Corvus is the Latin word for Raven, and Fatum is the Latin word Destiny, so if Facor? Facorum? Facorus?

I thought we'd decided on Carriconia or possibly Medieville
Umm, maybe something based on the whole magic vs. tech theme? >_> I dunno what, but

Do we have to use the avatar template? Or is that an optional thing?
Also I thought the original text said there was only one kingdom with two warring factions? Could you tell us more about the differences between the two, to give us an idea of what sorta culture we're dealing with for naming them? Otherwise, I guess we'll just have to throw out generic fantasy-sounding names and hope one sticks. XD
Sorry, not trying to be difficult, honest. It's just I keep getting more and more confused.

No, that's a perfectly optional thing! Just if people want something as a base. But completely unique avatars are more than welcome. Nope, it's one kingdom! The two warring Houses are separate noble houses within the kingdom who thus have their own crests. The kingdom that needs naming, though, is the one broader kingdom where both Houses (plus the peasants and merchants) live. Sorry if it was confusing at all!

Oh, I got confused because of the wording. When you said "kingdom names" for some reason I interpreted that as "multiple names for multiple kingdoms."
Oberian? Redvale? Kyth?
I dunno, just spitting out random things. XD

I was just thinking that a disproportionate number of fictional lands/kingdoms end with '-ia' or at least '-a.' So defending on how 'generic fantasy' we want it, it might be good to see what kinds of non '-ia' names we can come up with.
Hmm... Aldland? *first thing that came to mind*

Well...what are the basic geographic features of this kingdom? Any particular special regional resource? What is the dominant ethnic group living in this kingdom? Local mythology, major religion or previous rulers?
You can't just throw out generic fantasy names without thinking of a reason for them. =P Don't confuse future etymologists. *shot for being nitpicky*
EDIT: With that nitpick out of the way, I thought I'd throw in a few names:
Veresia, Murcia, Lutetium, Albion.

I answered a bit in SkypeChat but for those who didn't see-- We're going to leave a lot of the world-building aspects open to the players. x3 The religion is likely going to be the Mother Woo one from Mafia. 8D

The religion is likely going to be the Mother Woo one from Mafia. 8D ^^; I hate to be a broken record, but what about the folks who didn't participate in or follow Mafia? They won't know know what you're talking about.
