I found a resource full of images of smoking advertisements I can use for our museum publication. Best part, as long as we give credit, it is entirely free. I no longer have to just raid Wikimedia Commons. Is this what it feels like to strike gold? Ahhhh this is AWESOME, Celes! Sounds like a dream. =D

My electric piano (dating back to 2003, and one that was moved to my previous housing in 2018) was finally moved back here! I'm going to try to experiment with hooking it up via a MIDI cable again for a certain project of mine. 👀

I am not good at crawling out of home, even less so on cold dark mornings and when it's something I can afford to miss, just a couple years ago I kept arriving in the nick of time or late at many things - even #selfcare things - just because I spent so long going "bleh is it too late to drop out... is it..." instead of getting ready. After a whole week of early starts, and after working 9am to 11pm for yesterday's big event, I still rolled out of bed this morning and skipped ahead to the Special Yoga Thing. It was so easy? I didn't even crawl. These things do get better.

So after two unsuccessful looks at chain book stores, and finding that the only copy was checked out of the library; I went to the Slightly Fancier book store and finally got my own left hand (and my right!) on The Left Hand of Darkness!
I am so excited to read this, I've heard such good things. Gonna get to it right after finishing Gideon the Ninth.

Tiniest gloat ever but:
Thesis idea has been approved, and the tutor who I discussed it with thought it was a really great idea. It's going to be focusing on some topics which are very near and dear to me (storytelling, compassion and empathy) but is also very relevant to current events while not being explored a ton, at least not that I've read.
I'm actually really excited to start working on it. I know come summer it will be the death of me but...

I’m staying with a family I met for the next few days, and not only did I get to talk to their youngest about drawing and show her a few techniques while trying her style, but I showed all the kids some Tae Kwon Do moves that they loved trying out x3 The youngest also kept hugging me, she was so excited to meet me ;w; Very cute, much wholesome

Lovely super snowy day, nobody has work, tired from the workweek, chilling in my newly-cleaned and redecorated room with a cup of tea and cats napping everywhere, internet boy sending me goofy selfies
Hmm yes good

I've been promoted to the moderator of a forum! (another one, a sister site to the other place that I moderate for — it's still under beta-testing, and would definitely not be NSFNTWF to link to anyways)

Visited an Indian Restaurant in the next town over. Found them at an international festival booth last fall, finally had the chance to go today. They had a lunch buffet, and it was delicious.
All the Indian restaurants I've been to before (which is only two others) were too far away, but this one is much closer. So glad to have this find now!

Mmkay, this is a super weird and sorta dumb and vaguely creepy Mini-Gloat, but I promised past!Lizica that I'd write about it when the time came. xD I apologize in advance for my weird overactive imagination....But my gloat is that I finally finished the last of these old lip balms!! Why is that a gloat? It might require some backstory and visual aids. Back in 2016, my family and I visited a museum. My sister bought me something from the gift shop that she eventually gave to me for my birthday: a multi-pack of lip balms. Each one was a different fragrance and color, and each one was printed with a novelty picture of an Egyptian sarcophagus, serenely smiling. Another thing to note: Most of the time, my nighttime ritual is such that I turn off the lights in the house (so I don't wake anyone up), then I go brush my teeth and all that, and then I come back to my purse by the light of my cell phone so I can get out my lip balm and put it on before bed. So, every night when I was using this multi-pack of the mummy lip balms, I would walk through our hushed, dark house by the wan light of a cell phone to reach this figure and have to pull off her head to apply lip balm. And then, every night, I'd afterwards have to make sure that her head was reattached properly. Now, I don't generally consider myself to be a very superstitious person, but, like, listen, man. If you were in my shoes--in the dark, late at night, holding a cheap imitation of an ancient mummy--would you honestly look at this saccharine, faintly creepy, far-too-knowing face staring back at you ...and be like, "Yeah, I don't need to screw her head back on properly, I can leave her beheaded"? Is a literal piece of mass-produced novelty plastic actually going to curse you if you don't put her back together correctly? ...Probably not, of course not. But it basically just feels easier not to take that chance. When it's late, and you're alone in the dark, it feels safer not to tempt fate when it's so simple to set it right. Because...just in case, you know? Okay but yeah, it's finished now! I'm free! And hopefully I didn't mess everything up by taking photos of it. xDDIn case you're wondering, I didn't get rid of them because the lip balm itself was very good and smelled nice, and it was a thoughtful gift. And also no, it didn't actually take me four years to use up the multi-pack; I interspersed them with regular lip balms with no pictures on the wrappers, because I wanted a break. XDD[/really weird post over, please don't judge me, I'm gonna go post over myself now >>]

I’m going home tomorrow~! It’s been a lovely trip, but I know all my team members and me have hit that point where we just want to go home now x3 A month is a long time to be away from your bed and on other people’s schedule.

Hey, it's my 2 year NTWF anniversary! (About time, it feels like it only comes once every 4 years or something.) But nah, you guys are great, and I'm glad for the roleplays, the DND, the STC thread and other Neo discussions, and the varying relationships I've made through here o'er the years.

Trying to offset recent negativity with some positives.
- Exhibition opens on Saturday!
- Friend has invited me to hang out on Saturday at a small comiccon.
- Going to not miss D&D on the 22nd.
- Getting full refunds for my cancelled flights and accomodation, so I'm going to take that and spend it on video games for my Switch. Plan to get Breath of the Wild, Witcher 3, Okami and Untitled Goose Game.
- Another friend might be coming up on the 23rd, and then if all goes well, I can go to York and see Thundy on the 27th.
- Have come across some bird remains which I suspect may have been prey to a peregrine falcon. I've never seen one before but I know they live around here. It would be awesome to confirm a sighting.
