So I realize now that I hadn't really done much between August and November when my laptop (and with it, all my 3D models with no backup) got stolen. And I felt really bad about it for quite a while. >_> I haven't completely abandoned hope, though, and thanks to Kozma's incredibly coincidental request for a Zafara (which was the first thing I'd made on my own the first time as well!), I've been inspired to re-model all the characters (over some time frame, don't get too confident) and continue Ventures where the series left off. Hopefully it should all look a bit better too, since I know substantially (slightly?) more than I did when I started. (I may have to redirect a story element in the next comic because of everything getting destroyed before I could work on it, but this strangely may work out fortuitously for reasons that I don't want to spoil and yet it's so ironic because it's true)

Cool, that's a great likeness of a Wobbuffet! I like your 3D interpretations of popular characters. I like the one on the left because it's easier to see the shadows and thus understand the structure of the character's body, but the one on the right has more interesting colors and is more pleasing to look at IMO although it's harder to tell what's going on with it. Is there any way you can change up the lighting to make the shadows a color instead of black/gray? In the real world, shadows are never black; they always have a color, and using different colors for shadows in art (not just a darker version of the base color but actually a slightly different hue) really livens up your work.

It's a generic countering move that probably looks more similar to the way Counter does in the anime. Mirror coat is below. >_> Cool, that's a great likeness of a Wobbuffet! The reason the shadows are so black is that I added a negative light to that side for a sharper contrast and to darken it a bit overall. I thought it looked a little washed-out without it, but I suppose it still doesn't need to be a black light. Unfortunately, I can't change the shadow colours directly (ambient color) without severely affecting the color of the bright parts, too, so adding more lights it is. Here's a version with a bit of reddish light instead of the negative (and without the filters). (and just for fun some really trippy pop-art Wobbuffet with the colorband all messed up. that last one has inpainting as well) Original for comparison: Playing with colors:

SO GUESS WHAT? SHE'S ALIIIIIIIVE and much better than the original, trust me. Her tail's posed at a weird angle, but that's a side point. ._., But yes. Awkward mix of catsuit spy next to stripy wings with Christmas lights all over them. So a Rainbow Gun pretty much naturally completes the outfit, right? xD Yep, that took a while. Good thing it's a long weekend. >_>

I did another thing! Pokémon time! And a dA link because I feel like that's useful too.

you should post your other renders on dA, too.

Sooo, I'm tottering between two characters for Medieval. Semi-large renders: Avatar-size: The one on the left (Kaldora Verdana) is a medieval LARPer cosplaying as a Night Elf Priestess (which isn't too far-fetched given the fact that there actually is magic 'round here), and probably has more sympathy towards Jade or Ascension because clothie caster LFG. She'd probably be a bit more difficult to make serious, though (and the gender ratio is skewed too far anyways), which is why I also came up with the one on the right (Ancel Gulbrand), a sort of Morty Gunderson meets Van Helsing meets Joker (slasher slayer bandit guy)... who'd be really easy to make dead serious (not to mention evil or morally ambiguous) while still keeping a touch of dark humour, and still possible to interact with depending how far down the Complete Monster end (and how quickly) he goes. He'd more likely sympathize with the Rebels or Stallion house.

No art this time (shucks), but...
I must convey my excitement over the fact that I just discovered that for some reason I had saved a Blender scene to Google Drive long ago (i.e. when I started my job, as it was a sort of portfolio-ish piece attempt) that contained two characters (Coaster and some other OC) and the terrain/ocean/etc. that I used for the home in the Ventures comics in the NT.
So, having one of the bigger-and-more-immediate things that I dreaded having to redo actually still in one piece is pretty nifty, disregarding the fact that by now I've already redone Coaster much better and the trees I made really suck come to think of it and so do the textures etc. etc.
Downside being that I didn't have the foresight to do the same with that whole schwack of characters that I lovingly rendered in sets (since they're the biggest task but I only put them up as images on that random portfolio website, not uploaded to google drive which I SERIOUSLY SHOULD HAVE DONE gah) so I still need to redo all of them, but hey, there's at least something, so I... aaaaalmost have enough to do a comic with, once I manage to get Hoshea and Izyl re-made. xD
So my minimum viable character list to get back in the biz (i.e. a couple comic parts) basically looks like: - Loange, Coaster, Kougo: done (still gotta re-render the latter two though) - Izyl: gotta do, similar difficulty to above - Hoshea: gotta do, ridiculously high difficulty compared to the above because why did I pick Fire and those straps on the clothing
and the rest can wait a while, I guess.

Well, at least Kougo has an up-to-date logo again! (note: looks better on black background)

And I have no idea how or why I am doing this when I have so many other things that are more pertinent for this week, but here's Izyl because randomly back into the swing for a bit. (Again, looks best on a dark background.)

Those renders are really lovely! Nicely done! Thanks a bunch! It's not exactly original (since they all follow a similar formula and whatnot), but it's some form of progress and a good motivation to spend a bit more time on 3D stuff again, so hopefully more interesting stuff (like... a comic) will come fairly soon. As in... maybe December? This month is just all over the place in terms of school and work. <_< Also, as always, critique is encouraged if anyone would care to offer it.
