Did a few art requests over this weekend, and got another one pending that I need to work on this week.
If I'm right in believing that next week is the Christmas issue of the NT, I would like to warn you all ahead of time that the next comic is not supposed to make much sense or be immediately pertinent to the plot, although it does reference some earlier events to maintain continuity (i.e. why they're walking instead of boating) and may or may not have some impact later on in the story.
Additionally, I'm wondering if anyone would like their pets to cameo for a punch-drinking contest in Altador (not a drinking contest, just a bunch of pets around a table having copious amounts of punch). Ideally, there would be some visual distinction that readers would recognize, but it's not necessary. If it becomes more important than it currently seems by the time crunch time rolls around, I'll probably just make a separate thread anyways.

I'm sorry to post twice in one day, but seeing as the last one was quite art-deprived, I figured I'd make a new avatar.

Aaand now I have four more songs as works in progress, so I may (EDIT: did) end up having to make a dedicated music thread after all if this continues. On the visual art front, I've been doing lots of art requests over the past few weeks. And that's all of them for now, except one for a pair of Draiks that the owner is considering asking for sometime in January.

I doubt you'd be able to render my pets, since they're all wobbly and such. XD

I doubt you'd be able to render my pets, since they're all wobbly and such. XD Well, the Jelly Chia on the Altador Cup Practice Team wasn't too bad. Just gotta tweak the transparency and stuff. Animating would be a bit more difficult, though. Also, on-and-off working on the winter summer vacation special issue comic. And Pokemon couldn't have picked a worse time to become interesting enough to distract me from comics I'm still debating on whether I'd like to outright ask for NTWF pet cameos to participate in the Punch Club contest for another comic or just make some fillers, but if you'd like one of your pets to join, let me know! Bruce Buzz Chia Eyrie Grarrl Hissi + Mutant Hissi Kacheek Kougra Kyrii Lenny Lupe Kougra Poogle Pteri Shoyru Usul Xweetok Yurble Zafara
And I'm in the process of working on Krawk (almost done), Peophin and Chomby (both barely started), and Draik (need to get started anyways).

*squees and lols at the comic spoiler* Thanks for joining in on the Summer Vacation NT, Coaster. ^-^
You can borrow Chloe if you like for your comic, and use any species you prefer for her since she has no set species, being an eternal labbie.

AHA, I have done it! Yes, I've been inspired to do some more 3D work! ...Wait? What's that? You mean it's just yet another costume ripped off another fandom that I'll never be able to use anywhere? ...Darn. You should all know who that is. I tried to make it so the streaks node would show up non-transparent on an otherwise transparent background, so I did some weird stuff with the compositing, and it didn't turn out exactly as planned (second picture), but it looks pretty cool, especially on a white background. And yes, I know his hair is lighter or greener in the official art, but this is still just Coaster in a costume, so...

That's an awesome-looking N. I love how you got all the details down.
Did I ever tell you how much I enjoy your 3D art? Because I really, really do. ^^

Hopefully, the more I do, the better I'll get (instead of just getting lazier and lazier). In other news, who else do you know that does his homework all over the floor in his secret lab*, scatters assorted cameo papers all over the desk, takes naps in a hammock held up by a disused, outdated hoverboard's antigravity generators, and yet keeps the sets of ten Achyfi flavours in the fridge so perfectly positioned in neat rows? Roller coaster and Kougo's section not pictured. I wouldn't want to totally spoil what's coming up. * Yes, that is my real-life first-year Physics and Calculus assignment scratch work scrawled all over the floor. I managed to scan the densest-looking portion, but you may be able to pick out some of the problems. (No, the math problems, not just the mental problems. )

Coaster wants YOU! to show up in a cameo so I don't have to fill it out with useless and irrelevant space-filling characters. Ahem. Aside from that... I am going to do the best I can to slow down on music composition and GW2 playing and Pokémon training and such to really maintain the paperweight on school and still have time for more 3D stuff, because it's probably the most productive thing I can do besides school and the job search while still having fun doing something. So I'm filling the NeoHome with furniture. Yeah, that could take a while. Most of that wasn't even there for the first couple comics, but I don't really think I've done anything since... the last time they were inside the house, so Comic 6. I might just keep updating the picture for a while as I do a bunch of stuff.

I heard you like Draiks. In fact, everyone likes Draiks. That's probably why I've had at least four suggestions (including one from myself) to make one in 3D that I've put off... until now. In all its scaly glory. Just need to tweak the bone weightings and add some shape keys, and it's ready to go.

We interrupt Animal Crossing obsession and procrastination on job and class work to bring you a Pokeymanz. bored electro sheep is bored It's good to see that I'm still fairly fast at making character meshes despite not doing it for a while, even if I did just copy over Izyl's skeleton for the rigging part... I didn't resort to ripping the mesh from Pokédex 3D or something like that, at least. Ampharos has been one of my favorite Pokémon since my second-and-a-halfth playthrough of Pokémon Silver, during which my best friend's little sister stole it while we weren't watching and gave it to said unsuspecting friend, who started a new playthrough and basically leveled up Mareep instead of Totodile. When it was resolved and I got the cartridge back, I just went with Ampharos for everything. However, I've gotten pretty tired of actually using Ampharos, because I've used it (along with Crobat where available) not only in that playthrough, but in Crystal, Colosseum, XD, SoulSilver, and much of White 2 as well. So I'm trying to develop other favorites. But, since I found a Mareep early on in my Black Dream World Nuzlocke, I decided to go with it, and that's the basis for this picture. This particular Ampharos is Farore, an all-around careless gamer sheep lady who happened to be the first victim of the iPoke, a mysterious modified Exp. Share that makes the holder dance uncontrollably to a catchy tune (victim in the sense of torture, not actual Nuzlocke death as yet). Why isn't she dancing right now? Well, because it's turned off, of course. Look at the screen. In fact, that's probably why she looks so bored. I'm thinking that, if it turns out that I have enough free time in second year, and especially if I end up taking some 2D visual art courses (which is actually a possibility even though science major I choose you), I may start drawing some of the Nuzlocke/Animal Crossing comics I keep threatening to do. So you may get to see some non-3D stuff that looks better than what I could scrounge out of my elementary school drawing books. (I definitely miss having that kind of free time and that kind of initiative to go with it.) Also, this is the wrong board, but apparently someone in Japan played one of the music tracks I uploaded. Like... 10 times. ._.,

Spent three hours late at night drawing eleven (well, somewhat. bahaha) Pokémon that I've never attempted to draw before? You betcha. (okay, except Koffing and Geodude, and this one isn't a serious attempt of Geodude... you'll see, trust me. But the others are first-time-ever-drawn-by-Coaster ones.) Wait, what, drawing? You mean with paper? Yes, and bad pencil and bad eraser. Eleven pokeymanz and some description based on some of the team members of my Dream World hope-it-counts-as-a-Nuzlocke in Black. To compare just how much better (or not) I've gotten, I also wanted to include equivalent attempts from my third grade doodle book, which I had previously considered to be about the peak of my drawing career. (Actually, I was probably better in grade 4, which was when I learned to draw Ash, or grade 6, where the teacher actually taught some animesque drawing principles, but I can't find those books.) Unfortunately, I could not find that, but only my second-grade journal, which for some reason was before the art leap--so you'll have to take my word for it. EDIT: I'll just post the link. neo-coaster.deviantart.com/art/Nuzlocke-Character-Sample-2D-390470541. (Third Grade unavailable, sorry.) (also this incidentally happens to be my first thing posted on DA. Feel free to stalk me there now.) If you can't read the descriptions, good, because it's full of spoilers if I actually end up jumping on the comic bandwagon.

So, when you're not using paper, what program(s) do you use to make your art?

So, when you're not using paper, what program(s) do you use to make your art? Blenderrr, same program that the Porygon is named after and that Goron also uses, as I saw the other day. Open source and well-documented and whatnot, which is a good set of reasons I prefer it over Maya and the like.
